Ohio Governor DeWine has done a great job with COVID 19 and has an 85% approval rating

Ohio’s G.O.P. Governor Splits From Trump, and Rises in Popularity

Mr. DeWine’s decisiveness — closing schools before any governor in the country, postponing the state’s March 17 primary election to protect voters — sent his popularity soaring. The folksy governor, previously best known for an annual ice cream social at his rural home, became something of a cult figure on social media. Ohioans tuned into his five-day-a-week briefings to celebrate “Wine With DeWine,” a ritual whose motto is “It’s 2 o’clock somewhere.”

Ohio hopes to begin coronavirus antibody testing next week

Ohio may soon have a better understanding of exactly how widespread the coronavirus is, as the state hopes to begin testing for antibodies next week.

The state will pick 1,200 households randomly from across the state. These Ohioans will receive a postcard, followed by a letter notifying them of their selection, and when to expect a team of ODH workers to visit their home. During the visit, one adult will be randomly picked for testing.

Participation is voluntary. Anyone who is picked can opt out of testing by phone or email beforehand, or turn away ODH workers in person.

Cedar Point plans to open for the season in phases next month

Cedar Point officials said Tuesday the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park will open its 150th season next month.

Every year, the park typically opens the first Saturday of May, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced its owner to delay.

Next month, the park will open in phases beginning with season passholders followed by Cedar Point Resorts guests and guests who have pre-purchased tickets, officials said...

Governor DeWine’s conference yesterday included strict guidelines for businesses, including the responsibility to ensure employees and customers wear masks. First violation is a written warning, second violation will be business closure for up to 24 hours.

Revised Mask Order

  • Each business will be required to post a Face Covering Requirement sign at all public entrances to the store.
  • Each store will be responsible for ensuring that customers and employees are wearing masks.
  • Our new Retail Compliance Unit, comprised of agents led by the Bureau of Workers' Compensation, will inspect to ensure compliance.

US coronavirus: As vaccinations keep rising, so do Covid-19 hospitalizations among those who aren't vaccinated - CNN
April 12, 2021

“Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine said the number of Covid-19 cases, hospitalizations and ICU admissions in his state are all rising.

"We're moving now in the wrong direction," DeWine said Thursday. "More than half of our counties, 53, have seen increases."

"We can still turn this around if more people continue to get vaccinated," he said. "This is a race. We are in a race. And it's a life-and-death race."”

Disappointed that DeWine hasn't done more to require masks in schools. It resulted in a large outbreak of cases around the state and in our area that still hasn't subsided.

Our suburb had zero new cases for the full month before school started. Now we're averaging 20 to 40 new cases a week. That's a higher rate than before the vaccine was introduced.

My elderly neighbor and his wife recently contracted COVID 19. Both were in very poor health to begin with. He just passed away at home yesterday and the authorities removed her from the home. I'm not sure where she is now, but at least she's getting better care.
