I would like to know was with him at the bar prior to his disappearance.

Not to be disturbing, but would the grain truck be large enough or have access large enough to hide a person?

I asked upthread, as grain entrapment is a very real risk for farmers! Assured by reliable posters that the grain truck was searched, a link was provided.

By link, the dirt pile & the grain truck were searched.

So hypothetically, if he was in Montello earlier that day, would his phone ping a different tower?

Hypothetically, probably. Let me see if I can map the towers between Lucin property and Montello.

ETA: I think it's safe to assume the Verizon tower located near Tacoma, Rd in Lucin could be differentiated from any service by Att or Verizon in Montello.

SBM, BBM. If he left his property on Saturday, perhaps his phone would have pinged elsewhere? Are there other farms/dwellings within the same ping range?
IMO, the last phone ping around 3:41 pm on Saturday was in the same range as earlier pings since morning. What we've not heard is whether or not authorities believe the phone was turned off, or if the battery was expended.

In addition to my post upthread about was this a crime of passion, opportunity or premeditation, I wonder about Dylan's personality, temperament and demeanor. We know, by all accounts, both from the family and his own accomplishments with the farm; he's dedicated, hard-working, good-natured.
I only ask to get a better perspective on how he would respond to someone or something threatening him or his farm and everything he's worked so hard for. Would he stand-up and "fight" for himself and what he thought was right? Would he be more passive and try and minimize or negate what was happening? I by no means am implying Dylan is or would be an aggressor, but how he would respond being a victim.

Actually, I was surprised by a comment by the PI yesterday that he attributed to others in the family where he was allegedly told that DR could come off as somewhat entitled where he believed his farm experience and farming ability were superior.

But I'm not understanding of his choice of word "entitled." I'd think maybe overconfident?

Maybe this was part of the stepdad"s earlier account when explaining the fallout between DR and Don and how it's hardly preferable to take direction from a 19-year-old. MOO

Good Point. The disagreement with Don, and thus mutual parting of the ways, per the official timeline, maybe is indictive that Dylan "sticks to his guns" in standing up for what he thinks is the right decision and priority. Wondering out loud, if this self-confidence could have been perceived by some in the community and/or those who helped Dylan as being "cocky," "arrogant," and rubbed them the wrong way enough to trigger whatever happened.

This doesn’t strike me as a suicide (no indication of depression/mental illness), voluntary walk-about or accident/sudden illness (it’s flat and treeless as all heck and they’ve searched by ground and air—if he suddenly dropped he would have been found by now). Someone did something to him.

(snipped by carbuff)
MOO

While I don't think it's likely in this case, I did want to point out that not all suicidal people are depressed or mentally ill, at least not in ways that are visible to people on the outside. Many suicides happen quite impulsively (for instance, after a humiliating experience that a person feels has ruined their whole life, or a bad breakup, etc.) and others involve things like "happy face" where the person puts on a cheerful persona when around people they love.

I've been in that latter condition, many years ago. The cheerful persona wasn't even a front. I did feel better around my family. It was just when I was alone that things got so very dark and hopeless.

As I said, I don't think it's very likely in this particular case, but I'm not sure it can ever be ruled out.

I think you nailed it @GMS.

And I also think your choice of adjectives paints a better or truer picture than "entitled."

I perceive DR to be very task-oriented, whereby abandoning his mission to hook up the washing machine prior to completing the task would have caused him distress. I think he believed he could do both (washer and water pump) in his own order, which was inconvenient to Don-- probably waiting on the pump. MOO

Wait, LE reactivated his phone? Or the family?

Given his phone was lost, and the carrier account owner was DR's dad, they acted to take advantage of the opportunity to replace the lost device to have an immediate mirror of DR's previous activity in their hands. I understood DR's cousin was the right man for this job (whether by personal or professional experience). MOO

If Dad had access to his ICloud, they could have restored a new phone to the last backup of Dylan's phone. This is only as up to date as the last time his phone was backed up in iCloud, though (assuming they used this method).

Who acted?

DR cousin right man for which job?

Was this posted on the official Find… FB page? Or stated in an interview with CC?

IMO I don’t know how I feel about the family restoring & combing through DR’s phone before LE (if that’s indeed what happened).

If the family has access, they can get to the information far more quickly than LE can. LE has to wait on a subpoena or warrant, and might not be able to get either if there's no sign of a crime.

Sorry, my post was unclear. The parents made the decision to replace the phone and activate a new phone using DR's phone number/credentials. CC provided his cousin did the analysis and searches, and there were no surprises or leads located in his phone.

Mom has repeated the same in her YT videos since this seems her method of choice vs MSM. The same may be on the Official FB but I don't use FB and can't confirm.

Take note the family mirrored DR's phone prior to LE upgrading the case from a missing person to a criminal investigation. Also, LE will use 3rd party data directly from the carrier to protect the integrity of the investigation. MOO

As to the question above, about how DR might react if he was being threatened?

I think if he was being threatened by business associates or ex workers or local militia, concerning his farm or his assets---

I believe he would have told his grandparents or parents about it and sought support and back up, etc. He seemed to be very communicative about his daily farm life and I think he would have said something if he had received threats about his farm or his business activities.

However, what if he was receiving threats about something more personal? What if he had some kind of romantic entanglements he had not told his family about? Or maybe got in over his head in some other way, like gambling or pills or debts of some kind? I don't think he would have shared that with his family immediately. JMO

I don’t think it was random sketchy people that wanted to steal from him (didn’t CC say there were transients with a large number of stolen vehicles kept out in the desert) or goons that wanted to vandalize his property as a warning or for fun. Unless he attracted the attention of a creepy stalker that he had no idea about, I think he knew the person who last interacted with him.

If there were a threat he might have told his family, but he lied about whether he gave CV a ride, so he is capable of hiding things. Gambling, the nearest casino is 80+ miles away; bookies want their debtors alive so they can pay them back. Other debts, don’t his grandparents have a partial stake in his farm so he doesn’t shoulder all of the bills? Pills, maybe. Meth is pervasive and fentanyl is in fashion right now, but he looks healthy and alert in his photos.

Whatever happened I think it came down to a personal conflict with this individual/group.

The family has stated they believe foul play is involved. His mother, Candice Cooley, has told reporters that her son was devoted to his farm and would not have voluntarily left it during a crucial time for his first crop. She says he rarely ventured farther than Montello, Nevada, a small community 25 miles away.

On a tip reportedly passed along by the family, sheriff’s deputies searched a home in Montello on May 31, but found no evidence of anyone being held captive.

Rounds’ family is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to his return and is posting frequent updates on a Facebook page. The Box Elder County sheriff’s office can be reached at 435-734-3800.
