I thought there might have been, but I didn't see it. Thanks, I guess because the conversation about Phillip's past seemed to be in other threads I didn't think that thread existed!

Maybe, but he was charged with possession, so he had to have been holding.

I believe you are correct with that, I'm continuing this conversation over under the past offenses thread.

We need to keep the timeline just for additons to the timeline, I'm thinkin. :)

This appears to be an early article is about Valerie Dawn Shultz because of the date, but it matches the info better for Rachel Cruise???

Valerie Dawn "China" Schultz, 27, Pittsburg, January 08, 1999 (multiple stab wounds, strangulation, found dead in an industrial area in Pittsburg, possibly on Willow Pass Road. It is unconfirmed if Valerie might be the victim Jim Molino said was impaled on a fence at his business, J&M Auto Wreckers.)

Rachel Cruise, 32, Pittsburg, December 15, 1998 (asphyxia and strangulation, found in a ditch on California Avenue which is near where Lisa’s body was found on Old Highway 4. Another source said she was found near an auto wrecking yard. The coroner's report on her death suggested that her body had been dragged along the road for a short period of time.)

The body of a prostitute was found yesterday in a ditch outside Pittsburg's city limits, bringing to four the number of young women slain in the area over the past two months.

The grisly discovery was made one day after Contra Costa County prosecutors refused to charge two Antioch men arrested on suspicion of killing 15-year-old Lisa Norrell, the first in the spate of slayings that has shaken the community.

All four victims were found in industrial areas, and news of the latest slaying again sparked fears of a serial killer. Police have urged the public to remain calm, saying they have not linked any of the cases.

Shortly after noon yesterday, a passer-by discovered the body of a Bay Point woman in her 30s in a ditch, just outside Pittsburg city limits. Pittsburg police and sheriff's deputies, who are investigating the latest case, said they had identified the victim but would not release her name.

Grim-faced detectives answered few questions after spending two hours in conference with the police chief and Pittsburg mayor. Information was so restricted that when Contra Costa sheriff's Sergeant Mark Hale was asked if the case was being treated as a homicide, he answered simply, ``Well, she's dead.''

Investigators refused to say if there were obvious signs of trauma to the victim or how she was killed. They would also not discuss the significance of a red pickup found at the scene that was examined by officers.

Pittsburg police Lieutenant William Zbacnik said the victim had been arrested several times for prostitution. He then abruptly ended a press conference.

Last month another prostitute was found badly beaten in a Bay Point rest stop. Police have been urging prostitutes in the area to stay off the streets.

Yesterday's victim was Pittsburg's fourth homicide in just over two months. The city had six homicides in the first 10 months of 1998 before Lisa's slaying in November began a string of killings of young women.

The latest victim was found by a passer-by Friday, in a ditch along West 10th Street and Builders Circle near the PG&E power plant, just outside the city limits.

Victim was called "China'<

The victim was identified Saturday as Valerie Dawn Schultz, who would have celebrated her 28th birthday next week. She was most likely killed in the early hours of Friday morning, said Lawrence.

Schultz, who also went by the name "China," had lived in Bay Point from 1991 to 1994, and had been arrested once for prostitution, according to the sheriff's office.

In 1994, she moved back to Wabun, Minn., where she had family. She had been back only about a week and was believed to have been staying at a local motel.

Schultz's murder comes on the heels of two other murders last month. On Dec. 15, Rachel Cruise, 32, was found asphyxiated near Highway 4 and Loveridge Road. Ten days earlier, Jessica Frederick, 27, was found stabbed to death about 4 miles away, at Industrial Road and Third Street.

And there was yet another attack on a prostitute, 38, whose name is being withheld by police. She was discovered severely beaten inside a portable toilet at a Bay Point rest stop the morning that Cruise's body was found. She remains hospitalized, but unable to speak.

Saturday, April 3, 1999

The Contra Costa Sheriff's Department released yesterday a description of a man wanted in the slaying of a prostitute in January.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned white, Hispanic or Samoan male, 30 to 40 years old, weighing 250 pounds or more, with a full head of dark wavy hair, police said.

The suspect is being sought for the January 7 killing of Valerie Schultz. Schultz was seen getting into a brown four-door compact car with faded paint, no hubcaps and a noisy muffler.

Rachel Cruise Article

The body of Rachel Cruise, 32, was discovered Tuesday by a passing motorist in an industrial area just a mile from where a Pittsburg teenager was found asphyxiated on Nov. 14, and about four miles from where another woman was found stabbed to death on Dec. 5.

Cruise, the mother of two young children, was apparently killed somewhere else and dumped Monday in the 1300 block of California Avenue near Loveridge Road, Zbacnik said. It was not yet known how she died.

"There is no evidence that she was killed there, no bushes bent or crumpled - nothing to indicate that there was a struggle," he said....

Police suspect that Cruise may have been a prostitute, citing interviews with local street walkers, who said they had recently seen her "working the streets," and Cruise's mother, who told investigators that she suspected her daughter of drug use and prostitution, Zbacnik said....

Zbacnik said Pittsburg police arrested Cruise in August for allegedly being under the influence of narcotics, but there were no records to show she had ever been arrested for prostitution.

Cruise's mother, he said, told investigators that her daughter's behavior had become extremely erratic since 1994, when she stopped working and drifted around the country.

"Her mother had not seen her since last Friday, and her estranged boyfriend had not seen her in several days," Zbacnik said.

Cruise's mother told police that Cruise's frequent wanderings had alienated her boyfriend and that she rarely saw her 6-year-old son or 7-year-old daughter, Zbacnik said. The children live with the boyfriend, who is their father. Investigators said he is not a suspect at this time.

Rachael Cruise was the second young woman to die of asphyxiation since November 14, when police discovered the body of 15-year-old Lisa Norrell.

... After an autopsy conducted by the Contra Costa County coroner's office, investigators concluded that Cruise, 32, died from ``manual strangulation and smothering.'' But there were no signs of injury, such as bruises, on her body, Zbacnik said.

... Cruise was last seen in Antioch Sunday evening. Police found a purse that may have belonged to her and were continuing to pursue tips yesterday. Zbacnik declined to comment when asked whether any item used to smother her had been recovered.

Pittsburg -- Police are searching for whoever killed a 29-year-old Concord man whose battered body was found face-down in a drainage ditch that was filling with rainwater....Investigators have no leads in the case but believe that Tan was dumped in the ditch along North Parkside Road near Andrews Avenue. Tan had received several injuries apparently caused by a blunt instrument, but the official cause of death was drowning, said Pittsburg police Lieutenant William Zbacnik.

Just noting because of the date, location, and method of killing. I can't find where the killer was ever found.

Maybe SunnieRN or My2Sisters knows where this location is - on the map it looks like there is a N. Parkside Dr between 10th and Hwy 4 that crosses Railrod St. I can't seem to find an Andrews Ave.

are we now making the jump that garrido went from women victims to male?

I don't know where Andrews is exactly, but that area is close to the Concord PD.

Please add these possible victims to the timeline:

Lynn Ruth Connes, age 21, missing from Berkeley, CA 5/20/1976. (not found) http://www.theyaremissed.org/ncma/gallery/ncmaprofile_all.php?A200300245S

Geri Ann Ralston, age 15, body found sexually assaulted and strangled May 22, 1975 in Las Vegas, NV. http://www.lvmpd.com/bureaus/homicide_coldcases70.html

Here is a google map of Parkside Drive in Concord, but Andrews Ave. may not exist as it did then as Concord has gone from a sleeping bedroom community to a city. The streets are quite different now. There used to be some areas that were undeveloped or underdeveloped. Now it is pretty built up.

Did find an Andrews Drive, but not Avenue:

I think the man was found on N. Parkside Dr in Pittsburg, but he was from Concord. The article shows the Pittsburg police involved.

They evidently made a mistake... it's Andrew Ave not Andrews

It's about 1.3 miles from 1215 Willow Pass Rd, Pittsburg, CA

can i ask, again, are we just throwing random cases in the area out there now?
why is there reason to believe garrido would have killed this guy.

I already gave my reasoning
