Probation To Last Another 6 Months
A group of Hollywood producers has offered the Orlando woman $1 million for her first public interview since being acquitted of killing her daughter.
Spencer Kuvin, the attorney for those producers, said he's been told it will be at least six months until Anthony is available, adding that Anthony's attorney has advised her that doing any interview would violate her probation.

The co-sponsors of the bill are selling it by saying if Casey Anthony were to have been tried in Kentucky, this new piece of legislation would have made sure that she was in prison now.
Rep. Keith Hall (D), of Phelps, Ky. says, "We felt it would be best to call it that and it would make everybody aware that we've got to prevent these disappearances of our children."
It would be called "Caylee's Law," named after the little girl whose tragic story most of America knows too well. Caylee wasn't reported missing until about a month after she was last seen by her grandmother.
The Kentucky bill would make it a Class D felony for a parent or guardian to wait 12 hours or longer to report a child 12 or younger missing.
But critics argue the bill is too broad and doesn't account for real-life situations. Ernie Lewis, the Legislative Agent for the Kentucky Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, says, "For example, it covers a person whose child is missing but the mom is not even aware the child is missing. It would cover the situation of a runaway."

Mohammed Haroon Ali is either a coldblooded killer who strangled his girlfriend -- daughter of former Raiders star Fred Biletnikoff -- and dumped her body in a ravine or a mentally ill drug addict who lost control during a violent argument.
So now a new jury will decide if Ali is a heartless killer who strangled Biletnikoff for the keys to her car and send him to a lifetime behind bars or something less. Defense attorney Peter Goldscheider, who said Wednesday he's retained the same pathology expert that testified in the Casey Anthony case, says it was voluntary manslaughter. That crime carries a maximum of 11 years in prison.

House Criminal Justice Subcommittee Backs Caylee's Law

Jim Turner's blog | Posted: January 26, 2012 9:05 AM

"On Wednesday, the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee backed, without opposition and little comment backed, HB 37, which requires a caregiver to report within 48 hours if any child 12 or young is missing. Failure to do so would be a third degree felony, the penalty bumped up to a second degree felony if the child is harmed while missing."

Did you see my colleague Anthony Colarossi’s story explaining where things stand in the Casey Anthony case? The trial drew a lot of scrutiny, nationally and internationally, and many trial watchers are determined to see that Anthony collects no money for telling her story. In July, she was acquitted of murder in the 2008 death of her daughter, Caylee.
Attorney Cheney Mason told “In Session” that any negotiations for Anthony’s story would start after her appeal is over.

Both bills make it a misdemeanor to fail to report the disappearance of a child under 12 who has been missing for 24 hours. It also would be a misdemeanor to fail to report the death of a child under 12 within six hours.

North Mecklenburg High sophomore Bailey Brooks (holding sign) says she was troubled this summer as she watched coverage of the Casey Anthony and Zahra Baker cases. "Because someone didn't notice, these lives were gone," Bailey said. "I wanted people to notice child abuse - what abuse is and know what to do to prevent it."
.....She decided to make an informational video about child abuse and prevention, posting it online. She is also selling T-shirts and buttons that say "Notice," with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Teen Health Connection and the Council for Children's Rights.

Written By Dr. Keith Ablow - Published January 31, 2012 - FoxNews.com
Ketamine, or Special K as it is known on the streets, when used illicitly, can cause feelings of unreality and hallucinations. Its side effects—even when given in a medical environment (where it is given intravenously)—can include psychotic experiences, bladder problems and heart problems.
Potentially even more important than the discovery that ketamine seems to work as well as it does, researchers at Yale have already identified the chemical pathway and a key enzyme involved in the way that ketamine actually restores connections between brain cells. This enzyme, called mTOR, is critical in the synthesis of a protein nerve cells need to repair the fluid-filled “touch points,” called synapses, at which they exchange chemical messengers. Knowing this means that studies should be undertaken to see whether ketamine can also prevent relapses to depression in those who have recovered, or worsening of depression in those who have moderate symptoms.
I also believe that anyone with a loved one who is now suffering the ravages of a very serious major depression, in which suicidal thinking has occurred, and in which medication and other strategies haven’t worked, should be searching for a psychiatrist willing to procure and administer ketamine.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - In the wake of a child sex abuse scandal that rocked Penn State University, lawmakers in Oregon are considering a new requirement for coaches and other university employees to report child abuse to authorities.
The proposal also would apply to employees or volunteers of church groups, summer camps, scout troops and most other organizations that work with youth. They would be subject to the same abuse reporting requirements that apply to teachers, doctors and law enforcement officers.
House Bill 4048 would allow prosecutors to bring felony charges against parents and guardians who fail to promptly report the death or disappearance of a child if the parent could reasonably suspect criminal activity. The measure was introduced in response to the trial of Casey Anthony, a Florida mother acquitted of murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony, who was missing for a month before authorities were notified.
