I don't think that "Michael" is claiming to be THE Michael. He just happens to be named Michael and lost his parents in the '90s. Just a misunderstanding.

Looking at the yearbook, I think it's a girl with the initials "JSS" that looks like the one from the group photo. It appears that she is still alive though with a married last name starting with "C."
