It’s true that neither nose, lips, or breasts are directly visible. The left arm, however, has the shadows of these features. There is enough breast shadow that I’m confident we’re looking at a female. That’s all I was trying to point out in three mumbling posts. Sorry.

Giving this point more attention than it deserves, but the lines I edited in above obscure the boundaries between the sharp shadows cast from inches away by the head and the light, fuzzy foliage shadows diffused by distance. A relatively unedited version, then.

OK, those are not “slightly parted lips.” That’s a sharp leaf tip intruding on the outline.

It takes a massive, hot fire to destroy a body to an extent that prevents the most useful forensic tests. Even then it would take a long time and a lot of wood to build the pyre and for the fire to do its job. But he may not have had a realistic appreciation of the strategy.

IIRC some of his victims were choked several times before he finally killed them. This would produce plural ligature marks, which is what my fervid, fetid imagination sees here. But I can’t really tell.
