This week started with recordings of L.L.'s interview with police being played. She told police she wanted to tell them everything - there was a reasonable explanation for what she thought was going on - but she was told by her lawyer and her mother to not say anything. She claims from what she knew of the two victims, she did not want O.K. to associate with them. She had little interaction with them herself and says she was not present for any business meetings. When police told her that O.K. had made arrangements to sell the victims' vehicle days before the shooting she said "
oh my god” and “
this is news to me.”
This really made me roll my eyes. When an officer asked about her flight (in custody) back from Hungary:
Li says the food wasn’t bad, but it was not the best flight experience. She’s “not used to sitting in tight spaces.” They flew economy and she’s used to flying first class. Li felt bad for the officer, she says, adding that her mom was really concerned so she offered to fly all of them back privately. But that wasn’t allowed.

On Tuesday, a forensic pathologist testified and said T.P. wouldn't have died right away - it would have taken "many minutes". There were six bullet wounds on his body (three through his arm, one through the back of his neck/out near his ear, a graze on his chin and the fatal shot to chest which struck his left lung and lodged in his back).
The Crown wrapped up their evidence on Tuesday. Defence started on Thursday.

O.K.'s lawyers elected to not present any evidence. L.L. took the stand in her own defence. She said she only drove O.K. that night because he wasn't allowed to drive after an "accident" so she was "practically his chauffeur" and he couldn't find anyone else to drive him to Stoney Creek. She said she had found the property for O.K. to expand his marijuana grow op and she had been there twice before with him.
She first saw/met the victims when driving O.K. to business meetings. She understood they initially wanted to start an escort or prostitution business which led to an argument between her and O.K. as she was against it. O.K. then proposed the PPE venture in Europe. She said because he knew her feelings about the victims, he wouldn't tell her much and downplayed their communications.
At some point she noticed O.K. was stressed and when pressed, he told her the PPE wasn't selling as quickly as he expected and the money wasn't rolling in and he wouldn't be able to meet T.P.'s demands. Later, O.K. told her he had pitched selling a 20-year insurance policy to T.P.; L.L. agreed to help but subsequently, after meeting with the victims, she realized they wouldn't qualify (they didn't hold assets in their names). She told O.K. he'd have to tell them himself but he asked L.L. to keep up the charade to buy him time to figure out the finances. She only agreed after he asked her to be a "good wife" (they got married online in an airport because it was the only way she'd be able to fly to Europe with him during the pandemic lockdowns).
The trial continues Monday.

I wonder what her explanation for the blonde wig will be. He was into that and she was trying to be a "good wife"?
