''In 2022, there were around 65,000 missing persons cases; 52 per cent involved an adult, according to the RCMP’s National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains. Of the 33,690 adults who went missing in 2022, nearly 22,000 of them had no known reason for disappearing. About 5,000 were classified as runaways, and a further 3,000 were classified as having “wandered off.”
“We’re looking for clues. Obviously, the person is the ultimate clue, but chewing gum wrappers, cigarette butts, anything that we can find that might link us to that person,” Ritchie said.''
''Much of the searching, at least initially, for missing persons, is done by patrol officers who keep their eyes peeled and chase down potential sightings reported by the public. But it’s not just police searching: civilians concerned about Vagnini have also been driving around, looking for him.
Police have asked people to keep an eye out for his black RAM 1500 truck. There is a dedicated tip line in Sudbury for people to report information or sightings, as police have combed through parking lots, city streets and various establishments, looking for the local councillor. Police have also used a drone to get aerial views.''
