I would like to know if there was any contact with Garry after his 1990 visit to Skokie.
Between the AIDS epidemic and Garry's father dying in 2000, why did his family wait until 2009 to start looking for him? I'm trying really hard to remember that this is a victim friendly forum, but the more I think about the amount of time and the events of the times with Garry's DLC, the angrier I get.
It makes me wonder if the main reason for reporting Garry missing was to exclude him from any potential inheritance when both of his parents pass away.

What was the reason for waiting 19 years? And after 19 years, would anyone really blame Garry for not wishing to be reunited with his family?
I couldn't imagine now knowing how my son, or my brother was doing at the a peak of the aids epidemic. The thought of it brings tears to my eyes and makes my heart heavy.

I found some possible information on Garry's friend Gene.
A Gene Thomas Rupprecht is listed as deceased in a 2021 Obituary for what may be that of his step mother. The locations match, step mother passed in Urbana Illinois, which is considered part of the Champain IL. area.
Numerous siblings are listed, which may be an avenue for LE to contact to inquire about Garry. Gene doesn't appear to have been estranged from his family, perhaps someone from Gene's family knew of Garry. If not, perhaps Gene's family may be able to offer insight to possible areas to search.

An answer would be great, but not necessary. I'm happy knowing you sent it and they have the information.
Its also here and available if Garry's family wants to do anything with it. (Assuming they are aware of this thread.)

I find myself wondering if Garry left the country. I can't think of any other options. I found nothing to indicate he's unclaimed or a John doe somewhere. Nothing to indicate a name change.
I wonder if his brother hired a PI. I wonder if Deerfield police did anything more than take a MP report. Has his SS# been used since he went missing?
Garry has been 'missing' long enough to be declared deceased, but I find nothing to indicate that avenue being pursued.
