It’s also completely out of character for Jacob to disappear in the find Jacob Fb Group, it is mentioned he had plans for the future and was happy with life.
There is also some CCTV and a vehicle of interest.
Can you help with our investigation?

Specialist teams are continuing to carry out extensive land and water searches as police continue their search for a missing teenager.

It’s now more than a week since 19-year-old Jacob was last seen in the Retford area - around midnight on Saturday 23 March into Sunday 24 March 2024.

Detectives continue to trawl through CCTV footage as well as investigating potential sightings and pursue other lines of inquiry as part of the ongoing search.

Jacob is around 5ft 10ins tall, of medium build, with short dark mousy hair. He was last seen wearing a North Face anorak, a hoody, jeans, and distinctive navy blue Nike Air Max trainers.

It is believed Jacob is now without his glasses.

Detective Sergeant Rachel Mayfield, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We are doing everything we possibly can to find Jacob and we’d urge anyone who has seen him to please get in touch.

“That one piece of information may help to find him.

“There is currently nothing to suggest that Jacob’s disappearance is suspicious, and we will continue to act on information received.

“This is clearly a distressing time for Jacob’s family who have asked for their privacy to be respected. We have specialist officers supporting them and continue to keep them updated of our ongoing work.

“As part of our ongoing inquiries, specialist teams have been conducting land and water searches, including in the Retford area, as our efforts to find Jacob continue.

"Resources used during searches include a helicopter, underwater search team, and a drone team.

“We are obviously growing increasingly concerned for his safety and wellbeing and we urgently want to hear from anyone who has seen him.

“I’d like to thank partner agencies who have assisted us with our extensive searches, including the volunteer Nottinghamshire Search and Rescue Team (NSART) and Watersafe UK Search and Rescue Team (WUKSART)."

If you have seen Jacob or have any information on where he is, please call us on 101, quoting incident number 299 of Sunday 24 March 2024.

Just been having a look at this case.

My thoughts go out to the family

Had Jacob been out anywhere on this night? Or had he just left his house at like midnight?

This stood out to me and I've seen differing reports on whether Jacob left wearing them and they were later found in the area he was last seen, or whether he left without them. IMO.. he was wearing them when he left and they have been found in the area he was last seen. That is worrying to me. If he met up and left with someone willingly, why would he need to leave his glasses behind? He wouldn't

MOO

Snipped by me for focus.

That is what I think has happened, too, but I haven't seen official confirmation. A number of social media posters are saying that Jacob "was not wearing his glasses at the time of his disappearance", which I don't think is a particularly clear way of describing things.

Got in a fight and they came off?

Yes we are only given the detail he was returning home. He cud of returning from a night out, visit to friends house. I think there’s a possibility Jacob was returning home from work (KFC)
Thank you @StillDiggin

Those glasses to me don’t just look like ‘normal’ glasses to me (maybe I’m getting old and not down with the kids anymore though!) they look quite unique and possibly prescribed glasses for a possible medical condition.

I really hope his poor family have answers soon

Rooting for this young man to be located ASAP.
Maybe I missed it, but is there a timeline, and is it known why was he walking that route? Or is it still unclear why he was there?
Did he have a phone with him?

It's a big park (10 hectares) with a lot of entrances and exits, so it's not easy to guess where Jacob might have gone or the direction he was heading. Inside the park there's a playground, skatepark, tennis courts, etc. There's an Asda petrol station at one end but unless he walked through there it's unlikely he's been caught on CCTV. Many of the other ways out of the park are just general roads and streets. There's a river that runs directly through the park, that could be another way to exit the park. There's also a lot of trees.

On the screenshots, I've circled the Sports Direct and car park in red.

A volunteer underwater search team were in Retford at the weekend, I'm assuming they were in the river in the park. No mention of anything found though and I'm not sure if there are further searches planned. I know it's horrible but I hope Police etc are looking up when they're searching as well

Or perhaps he fell or dropped them and couldn't find them again in the dark especially if they'd gone in to undergrowth. Why publicly suggest any other involvement when there is no evidence of it?

That's a good point, I hadn't thought of him dropping them. I'm looking for explanations of why his glasses would be left behind, and that was one of the possibilities

where was he returning home from? was he under the influence of anything? I see that they have been searching waterways ...

There was significant flooding in Retford earlier this year, and the bank of the River Idle that runs through Kings Park is pretty low. When the river gets swollen it floods the park and it can take weeks for it to drain, leaving the ground thick with mud. It’s very easy to slip and really hard to get back up, and if this happens at the place where the river flows fastest- around the bridge- it’s very likely you’ll end up in the water. Retford is a small town, the area round the park isn’t a residential area and it’s not in the centre- there would be no-one around to see or hear someone in the water.
