Australia Samantha Murphy, 51, last seen leaving her property to go for a run in the Canadian State Forest, Ballarat, 4 Feb 2024 *Arrest* #9

“The Murphy family has also been informed of this week’s search and police continue to liaise closely with them during the course of this investigation.”
Glad that’s been specified this time
Thinking of the family and those involved in the search

If 5 pm ping is correct,
it might mean the accused was allegedly transporting the victim late afternoon.
When the dusk was approaching.

JMO
Could the perp have made such a careless mistake? Transporting the victim and not turning off her phone or watch? I wonder, I know. I am going to say it again ..I still think Sam was hit accidentally and the accused did have to kill her as she was not deceased…I can see him “freaked out” riding around trying to figure out what to do and thought Sam’s cell phone was off. Dotta…I think you hit the nail on the head!

The new search area is about 8km from the Buninyong area, where police focused their search efforts in March, and almost 30km from where Ms Murphy is alleged to have been killed.

Police on Thursday said the new area was "highlighted by intelligence derived from a number of sources".

A range of specialist units will join Missing Persons Squad investigators for Thursday's effort, including the Search and Rescue Squad, Mounted Branch, Dog Squad, Public Order Response Team and motorcyclists from Road Policing Command as well as local police from Western Region.

Were the maps "borrowed" from DM? ;)

Praying this search is successful and she can be brought home to her family for burial. It seems they have a specific area so I hope that is a good sign that she's there based on a digital trail, cameras, etc.

If they do find her

This will make the case interesting for the accused If he's still remaining silent

And of course give some sort of peace to the family

If he did it, I'm sure he's hoping that there is not enough proof.

If he didn't do it and really doesn't know where the body is, well of course he wouldn't be able to tell them where she is.

The police do seem to be certain that they have the right person.

Interesting, they arrested the 21-year-old accused murder of Hannah McGuire

Last Sunday (7/4/24)

He looks to be involved in some type of trade work

Possible that the accused murderer of SM could have known him

They all live not far, close ages,
including where Hannah McGuire was killed (State Forest Road in Scarsdale, south of the town Ballarat)

The accused murderer on Hannah McGuire was on bail for serious unrelated offences at the time of her alleged murder, 9News can reveal.

Because of this latest arrest

I wonder If this new search for SM has come from this

It just seems interesting with this new intelligence that has come to light

Possibly with phone data, or something has been found in searches, maybe photos of each other on the night
or possible other information has come through
