Someone suggested this as a match on the Jane Does/Missing Facebook page but I can't understand how they wouldn't have ruled her out?? I know it happens often but this is the same county and the bones had obviously been there a long time. Not to mention it's only 6 miles from where she lived.

The pig pendant could symbolize the year she was born in according to the Chinese zodiac. Does anyone know Audrey's birthday?

She was 20 in 1981, Pig was for 1959. But it also represents wealth, good fortune, etc.
Audrey was born on 1 June 1961. This rules out the Year of the Pig theory, as 1961 was the Year of the Ox. I know Audrey was born that day as Ancestry shows a record of an Audrey Chin living on 33 Ross Lane, where the missing Audrey lived.
Now, what's confusing here is that this record is dated 1991, ten years after Audrey was last seen. My theory here is simple: Ancestry accidentally typed 1991 instead of 1981.

Unfortunately, I don’t think Suffolk or Nassau County are very dedicated to their cold cases. It’s also possible the remains found have no teeth or viable means of identification. I would submit though

Her NamUs page was updated today, and I believe vehicle info was what was added.

1976 Chevrolet Nova (Chevy II and Concours)

Style: Sedan
Color: Blue
State: New York
License Plate: 258fcl
Expiration Year: --
Comments: Vehicle was found in a parking lot at a diner located at old country road and south oyster bay road in Plainview w three flat tires

The fact that Audrey's car was found with three flat tires seems suspicious.

Audrey was added to The Charley Project

Chin was last seen in East Norwich, New York on July 8, 1981. She left her her home in the 30 block of Ross Lane at 10:00 a.m. to go to the supermarket, and never returned. She has never been heard from again.
After her disappearance, her tan 1976 Chevrolet Nova with a vinyl top the New York license plate number 258FCL was found abandoned in the parking lot of a finer at Old Country Road and South Oyster Bay Road in Plainview, New York. Three of its tires were flat.
Chin's family never believed she left of her own accord, as she wasn't having any problems in her life. On the morning of her disappearance she called a veterinarian and made an appointment for her kitten to be seen that afternoon. She left several hundred dollars behind in her room.
The night before her disappearance, Chin fainted in the bathroom and struck the back of her head. She went to the hospital for an X-ray and medical check, and they couldn't find anything seriously wrong with her. Her mother theorized that her disappearance was a delayed reaction to the fall and head injury.
Chin was a night student at State Agricultural and Techincal College at Farmingdale at the time of her disappearance, and planned to transfer to the the State University of New York's Stony Brook campus for the autumn term of 1981. She had an American boyfriend, worked as a typist for a local firm, and dreamed of becoming a nurse. Her case remains unsolved.

Looking at the map, i think it's here. I don't know if Hicksville diner is the diner. Bethpage park is on the east and has a large wooded area, but there are other parks around.
