Yes they certinaly shot themselves in the foot so to speak, and squandered all the good wishes of a large part of the nation, if not the world with their actions before and to some extent, during the trial.

Take heart, the system worked, ICA got a fair trial, and the evidence was found lacking. I completely disagree with the verdict, but can't find fault with the system... The jurors on the other hand, I have little respect for because I don't believe they took their job seriously, but now wish...

Oh yes they got it wrong. IMO they might have leaned too heavily on scientific evidence. In stead IMO they could have explained how simple it is to make Chloroform, and why none was found. I think the jury did not listen to the complicated evidence, and gave as much credence to the half-baked...

I don't see the police turning into a FCA body guards. She is going to have threats everywhere she goes, and IMO, they won't keep following her around to protect her. They don't follow anyone else around. Think of all the people who have protection orders against an x-spouse or x-boyfriend...

Not surprised if they couldn't structure the $$ is such a way that it is not in her possession for quite some time, and she can live off of loans or something so she can maintain her indigent status.
