I brought up on Google maps the route between Salem and Portland and it crosses right over the Willamette River south of Wilsonville and passes beside it in Salem. Since his car is missing as well as him, I think it's very possible he went in the river.

Unfortunately, AWP has hit a bad impediment, namely that the leader of the group is now accused of child rape. It seems only old cases and searches are being added to their Youtube channel.
