I wouldn't be surpised if they did write a book. A lot of Joe's articles read like a novel instead of a news story, with the way he describes the scenes and draws everything out.
You may be right. He was charged with felony murder but maybe there is something in his plea bargain that reduces it to voluntary manslaughter. I haven't seen that anywhere.
I did see on one of the articles that it was likely he would have gotten life without possibility of parole if he went...
Is anyone else having a hard time believing this was the straw that broke the camel's back? I mean, there was a lot of other circumstantial evidence like the underwear and the hacksaw packaging found in his apartment. Not to mention other evidence we don't have the full details on, like the...
What do you think the stick was for? From what I'm reading, he was spotted with the stick the evening of 6/25. He murdered Lauren in the early morning on 6/26, but didn't dispose of her torso until 6/28, and it wasn't found until 6/30.
It looks like the article AgentFrankLundy posted was just updated with more details on the murder. SMD was wearing a mask and gloves when he attacke her. Lauren pulled his mask off before he killed her.
I just watched the live feed with a statement from DA David Cooke:
- detailed allocation filed by SMD, outlining crime - will be available to media today
- process was started weeks ago. Defense became more interested as prosecutions case became stronger
- allocation said where murder happened...
According to WMAZ, he has to write out a statement detailing the crime as part of his agreement. I hope Lauren's family will get her remains finally and have some closure.
Also as part of the agreement, the charges for burglary and child *advertiser censored* will be dismissed...

Here's another article about the gag order. I guess the judge is referring to the article about the websites SMD visited.
"He also viewed Lauren Giddings’ Facebook page and appeared to research a device similar to the burglar bar that Giddings used to secure her apartment door, the source said."
"Giddings was last seen alive, at least by anyone close to her, on June 25, 2011. In court Friday, Cooke mentioned...
McDaniel visited website about sexual arousal from seeing someone eaten:

Why would the GBI think this is irrelevant to the case when they first searched his hard drive?
If the earring belonged to Lauren, wouldn't her DNA be on it? I'm not that familiar with how DNA works but a quick google search shows several cases of where DNA found on earrings has been able to connect them to their owners.
