June 17, 2014

4:43pm Wrap: This afternoon ...

* Gerard Baden-Clay's triple-0 call to police was heard for the first time. His called police about 7.15am on April 20, 2012, to report his wife missing, saying she had gone for a morning walk but not returned.

"My wife isn't home. I don't know where she is," he told the emergency operator. "I'm now driving the streets. My father has come over to look after the children."

* The court also heard from some of the first police officers to arrive at the Baden-Clay house that morning. IT is day six of the trial of former Brookfield real estate agent Gerard Baden-Clay, 43, who stands accused of murdering his wife Allison Baden-Clay, 43, on April 19, 2012.

Baden-Clay has pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court in Brisbane.

The jury heard a recording of police with Gerard Baden-Clay in which he explained how he received scratches on his face from shaving.

The recording was interrupted by a police officer to say Allison Baden-Clay’s phone had been triangulated and was somewhere at the back of the property.

A specialist in forensic medicine Dr Margaret Stark testified the cuts on Gerard’s face were “not typical” of a razor but could have been made by fingernails.

Dr Candice Beaven told the court the accused murderer saw her at her Kenmore GP clinic about the cuts on his face - and gave her a business card after asking her if she lived locally.

THEY gathered on the bridge by the railing, where two years earlier police had leaned over to see the body of Allison Baden-Clay lying in the mud.

They stayed for nearly an hour, walking from one railing to the other, walking from one railing to the other, before peering down the bank where police allege the mother-of-three was dumped by her husband after he killed her.

Here Dr Hoskins says he can rule out a razor as causing the scratches. Before this he says he can't rule out all causes besides fingernails. He then says he can rule out some causes. The defence then suggests he can't rule out a razor, to which he replies that he can.
