No, you park within a few feet of the campsite. You would notice if anyone drove in or out any time, day or night.

And surely you would hear a truck unless you were under the influence of something.
 
I think it was Savmom that mentioned the additional parking in an earlier post but I think it's worth repeating... There is a fairly decent sized 'day-use' parking lot across the street from the campground.

There is also a few scattered spots where you can pull off along the road. Remember, the main attraction here is a large swimming hole adjacent to the campground.

If we are to go with adopto-mom's feelings/story that he was 'taken', then it could be possible that many more people were around that day to observe and covet this child.... that is to say, more people than just those staying in the campground.

An interesting thing to me is it says the camp host is in site #12. That means Sylar's group were right next to it, in site #13. If these are anything like the campground hosts I've encountered, they should be able to paint a pretty good 'character' picture to the authorities. *** Campground only has 13 sites.

Considering that Christina's criminal history shows a woman with a penchant for illegal prescription meds; a woman with a flared temper to the point of physically fighting; a woman who has made a false report to police in the past; a woman who's irresponsible with children, to the point of not even putting them in restraints while in a vehicle; a woman who's irresponsible toward her family and other drivers by not maintaining insurance and registration on her vehicle; and a woman whose camping partner (her mom) has previously been convicted of endangering the life and health of a minor and of multiple drug and marijuana charges.... Well... here are my three possible scenarios:

1) Christina and mother take pills or smoke some bowls, get messed up, pass out in the tent, leaving the kids to fend for themselves. Something happens to Sylar, and when they wake and find the injured/deceased child, they either dispose of his body or have someone else do the dirty work, and then cover it up by feigning an abduction / disappearance.

2) Christina and mom, zonked on pills or weed, accidentally harm the child, and cover it up. They have someone come to the camp, take the child and dispose of him, and then they go through the motions of raising the alarm for a missing child.

The above two make sense because, with both women having previous drug arrests, Christina would be looked at closely by CPS (I have little doubt that she's already had a case or two with CPS) and might lose her two natural children. She didn't want to take that chance by reporting an accident or neglect, so, instead, they came up with the story that casts them as completely responsible parents with a wily child who was able to escape the tent and wander away--or possibly be kidnapped by the "Mexican."

3) Christina and mother were totally sober for the weekend. They planned to get rid of Sylar. Why? Who knows? Maybe he said that he loves his bio mom more. Maybe something happened between Sylar and one of Christina's children. Who knows. People who harm children don't need a logical excuse. Whatever they convince themselves of is all that matters to them. So, knowing that rain was expected, what better time to get rid of Sylar than on a day when rain would be very likely to wash away any evidence, scents, and so forth. What better place than in a public campground with loads of strangers, including one of those "Mexicans" that they've heard so much about in the Arizona news--cast as the villain a stereotype who's being scapegoated by everyone from the Arizona governor to Joe Arpaio for the problems facing the Southwest. Sylar was killed by the women, and disposed of by someone who had been prearranged to come retrieve the body to take it away from the camp.

Those are the only three possibilities I see as logical right now. I don't believe that Sylar was abducted by a stranger. I don't believe that a wild animal toted him off. I don't believe that he wandered away from the campsite (even though it's possible).

Either an accident happened, the women were negligent, or they carried out a planned murder. I don't think that Sylar is alive. Sad to say.

I'm sorry, taken from a tent? This is still just not doing it for me...in fact the more I think about it, the more impossible it sounds.

I still am giving TP the side eye. She has said some "off" things for sure in my book. Taken alone they could possibly be explained away, but taken into context they are not in her favor. JMHO. I want to know more about how TP came to have Sylar, what date she took "custody" of him. I don't think she had him as long as she stated she did at first (media reports, which I think was info that LE was given by her and then passed on).

LE has come right out and said they can find no signs of a predatory attack. They've searched all the areas of water, stuck a camera down a well...etc. They are well past the timeframe that even if Sylar did manage the impossible and travel alone far away from the camp area that he could survive without water.

Then she tells the media that a "mexican male" was watching her and her family all day the day before. She thinks he was abducted because they "haven't found his body" (that still gives me a WTH eyebrow raise).

Is it possible that a predator was at that campsite and decided he/she was going to take Sylar? Anything is possible, I'm not sure how probable that scenario is right now.

I'm glad they are going to exhaust every effort to locate him. I'm just not sure they are going to find him where they are looking and given the terrain and geography of that area, I'm not sure they will find him at all. Makes me very very sad. JMHO.

I am wondering about her other children, and whether the LE has clued CPS into his suspicions. IF there is some way to implicate the ''custodial mom'' and her mom then wouldn't her other kids be ''at risk'' -- there's a lot riding on this one IMO

Agreed.... it sounds absurd. But at the same time, it's so ridiculously unreasonable, that I can't imagine someone making it up and expecting people to believe it.

I am also way too young...born in the 80's... but I do remember it because it is one of many cases I looked into for a connection to my cousin's May 1977 murder.

"Around 6pm a thunderstorm hit, and the girls huddled in their tents. Among them were Tulsan's Lori Lee Farmer, 8, and Doris Denise Milner, 10, along with Michele Guse, 9, of Broken Arrow, a suburb of Tulsa. The trio were sharing tent #8 in the camp's "Kiowa" unit, named for a Native American tribe."

This was three little girls in one tent alone. There was not 2 adults in the tent with them. That is where the issue is with Sylar. If he had been in a tent with two other children, we would be much less skeptical. But he was in a tent with his "Mother" and "Grandmother". As well as another child. That is totally different...to remove a 2 year old from right next to those two adults, in a tent which makes noise when you move in it.... is far different than taking him from a separate tent with only other children in it.

That is why we are skeptical. :waitasec:

As I read the list, ticking off each one by one by one.

The vast majority of missing children that we see on these boards are harmed by their parent or custodial parent or stepparent...etc.

It just breaks my heart for those kids. So sad.

UPDATE, Thursday, 4: 05 PM

Picture of what the ground looks like there. It is exactly how I had envisioned it having lived in a desert.

1. The searchers ruled out a predatory attack, no evidence of blood anywhere, a diaper found wasn't his but taken in for examination anyway.

2. The RSO's in the area have been accounted for by LE.

3. The 25 other campers at that campsite have had their belongings looked at by LE, as well as their cars (and even though it hasn't been stated by LE or the media I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't run down their info).

4. Blood hounds were brought in and could not find a good track. The trails just died.

5. Sonar equipment was brought in and used. No sign of Sylar, the LE has done a grid search for the past five days no sign of Sylar.

If anyone needs links I'll go back and dig them out where LE said the above, but it's rehashed in the article I linked in this post.

Actually I was in high school in 1977 and do remember hearing about the Girl Scouts as my little sister was a girl scout at the time. But I still am not buying this, unless it turns out to be someone the baby knows, so that he would not have fussed.

I know there is a wild scenario for every crime that comes along and there is also a past one to match it, but this place just sounds too small for me to believe no one heard anything.

Of course I am not shock-proof.

No wonder there are no official adoption papers. I'm thinking no way in *&*( would this lady be approved for adoption.:waitasec:
