canvas, focus on leads coming in and doing interviews

(wish they would ask about search around the apartments, etc...! I mean if NH is telling the truth that is where she last was!)

(further comment: I think they are keeping an eye on NH)

this police chief ISN'T from the area...sounds like he's from the North. He has an accent kinda like mine. I'm from Philly, but have been living in the south for over 23 years now.

he just said that he CAN say that the husband was in FL Friday night and in to Saturday morning......

wishy washy much?

I think he said that LE has been told he was out of town friday into saturday but they are still checking into that.

Hes retiring soon! :seeya:

Oh good lawd i now want to know what abc11 is gonna tell us at 5.00. It better be good! :waitasec:

Whether on not he did something to Kelli, why don't they arrest him for not following terms of a RSO.
And, where is he living now that they have taken his tent?

Press conference 4:30 4/19/12

Hi folks, thank you, good afternoon. Today we concluded our search of the pond area. Unfortunately at this time we have developed no new leads as a result of the search. Once again we're fielding calls from the hotline. We're at a point that anyone that was at that club, Froggy Bottoms, that particular night should report anything out of the ordinary. The tips we've received are being forwarded to the active investigators.

We're starting at Froggy Bottoms doing canvasses. Working with area law enforcement, sherrifs offices.

Any person of interest? Not at this time.
Nicholas Hobert? Doesn't answer directly, but implies no.
Q: Have you searched this wooded area right near the housing complex?
A: We've searched that area and we're going back out. We're looking at the entire Froggy Bottoms 295 area.

Q: How she got wherever it was she ended up, have you been able to get a timeline?
A: Yes we've been able to find some information pertaining to that but I'm not going to comment on that at this time
Q: Sounds like you're back to square one.
A: That's just about the gist of it. We had some leads develop yesterday. Those leads didn't develop to the point...so we have to start again.

At this time he doesn't believe they will call Hobert back in. We've talked to him twice. We don't expect to call him in again at this time.

Q: How many tips are you getting?
A: Numerous, don't have the exact number
Q: Can you verify that the husband was out of state?
A: That's part of the investigation that we're working on.
Q: Are you aware of Mr. Holbert's criminal history
A: We're aware of that and once again we're following up on any and all leads.
Q: How frustrating is it that you're starting over.
A: It's very frustrating, especially for the family members.

We've been in constant contact with the family.
At this point in time it's still a missing persons investigation. But very out of character for Kelli.

Q: Do you know all the people who were at the bar? Were there 10, 20, 50.

A:Specifically all individuals by name, no. I believe there were more than 20 that night.
Q: Do you know who was there with Kelli that night?
A: We know some people that were at the bar
Q: Do you know who Kelli was with?
A: I have no comment on that, I have no comment on that. Thanks for trying.
Q: Can you say definitively that her husband was in FL Friday night and Saturday
A: I can say definitively that's what we've been informed.
We'll continue to stay at the pace we've been at it and follow up new leads.
Kelli's family is under a lot of stress.

Thank you.

I am not convinced the husband was in Florida.
IMO

I just watched the presser. Where do I begin? I still think Nick is the key. His tent is gone. The Police Chief wouldn't comment on it. Will be canvassing out away from Froggy Bottoms. IMO that means they don't believe he dropped her off where he indicated he did. They are also asking for people who were there that night to contact them.

Could someone else be involved along with Nick? IMO as always.

Hi Everyone! I haven't posted on Kelli's thread yet because I have been on the fence about NH from the beginning. I just don't think he did it or I think they would have him by now. I also don't see the same things that some of you are seeing in his interviews. To me, he seems genuine. I suppose I might be eating crow later, but I hope not. I just don't know what to think.

Stories like these make me amazed I lived thru my 20s. I've done such stupid things with stupid people and am still here... I guess its just luck of the draw...

I feel so bad for Kelli's family and friends. :(

This is exactly why I sometimes point out that the victim has made a poor choice - not to be judgmental - but to bring awareness to the fact that the choices we make can be dangerous ones. The world is not a safe place and we're naive if we think it is. As an older woman now, I'd be neglectful not to speak out. Kelli's only fault was to trust the members of her community because she had no idea if they deserved her trust or not.

1. Don't go out at night alone or with virtual strangers.
2. When you go to the Mall, be aware of your surroundings. Don't hesitate to ask someone to escort you to your car if you feel someone has been following you. Check around your car before getting in.
3. If your car is being followed, drive toward a well lit place. Don't drive to your home. Call 911.
4. Go out with at least one trustworthy friend and don't leave a bar alone. Don't stay until closing. Don't ever go out to breakfast with that cute guy you just met.

I'm lucky to be alive too.

Yea, how come they arent searching woods behind her apt? or subdivision or apt is in? moo

If the husband becomes more of a suspect, then they will have a lot of area to search from Fayetteville to Orlando. Something tells me he can't be ruled out. However a lot of that is based on a RSO's account of what happened. I believe it is pretty well known that they had marital problems, yet he is quick to say it was a "happy marriage". She was completely removed from his FB page then added after people began to question that. If it were a happy marriage, most any husband wouldn't be happy with their wife getting rides to and from bars with some man they met. I think more likely they were separated, but that didn't keep him from being extremely upset about it.

I wonder, has anyone looked at the entrance to the apartment complex to see if a vehicle could be seen parked there. Kelli may have seen her husbands car and that's what spooked her. I'm going to attempt to see what can actually be seen from the entrance.

Reading between the lines, IMO, they have not been able to verify that Mike was in Florida. If he did have something to do with this, I wonder if he was smart enough to leave his phone in FL so it would ping there.

Just FYI on the police chief not being from around here comment.

A lot of cops from the north are told by their psychologist that they've seen too much and need to go to smaller more rural towns. (I live in a small southern town, a lot of our police are like this). It slows the pace for them a bit.

I do not consider Fayetteville a small town by any stretch. He may have been previous Army (he has that look, I don't know), and wanted to stay there.

It's still a strong possibility that after she got out of NH's car that someone else could have abducted her. If he's not involved in the recent rapes, there is still a rapist out there and rapes have often gone wrong...

I dont think she could see his car because where nick dropped her off was at the entrance a quarter of a mile from apt! moo unless maybe he texted her.

Seems while there are a few thing that need confirmation - things are somewhat back to square one. LE needing a additional piece of information or evidence to connect dots.

I'm going to inch out on a limb and restate.... could KB's disappearance be connected to the recent attacks? What could have happened between the drop-off and time she was "determined" as missing. By "determined" I am including that someone tried to reach her and did not get a call back/reply. Just thinking out loud.
