BSL - More Victims????

I don't think I'm convinced that BSL is responsible for every( or any other) unsolved missing or homicide case in La & Tx since his release from prison in 2008. It seems like a stretch and like too much credit is being given to him. He botched the cover up of Mickey's murder big time. He left a paper trail a mile long- I think police would have already found evidence to link him up any other crimes by now.
He was released in 2007

How did he end up with other missing women's ID's then? We don't know how many, but what I read said 'several'.

There has been one mention of the other ID's- by The Independent. One time. I am not convinced they actually exist.

I am so impatient between wanting LE to make sure they have all they need to convict him and also wanting to know every detail that they know... I'm sure most of you know what I mean. I want justice for Mickey and for Lisa more than I want to satisfy my own curiosity, though, so I'm struggling to learn patience.

Hi all. I keep coming back to this thread. It keeps peaking my interest. I live on the Gulf Coast and remembered hearing about a possible Louisiana serial killer and then nada. I found this. I'm sure you all have covered it upthread. I am in the process of reading/catching up. This blogspot is dedicated to the JDP8 - Jefferson Davis Parish 8 victims.

(Update 3/4/12: Episode can be viewed here)

The JDP 8 unsolved female murders will be featured on Investigation Discovery’s new series, Dark Minds on Wednesday, February 29th, 10pm (check local listing for correct time zone). The episode is titled BRUTAL BAYOU and below is the synopsis of the upcoming program:

Jennings, Louisiana is the largest city in Jefferson Davis Parish, about halfway between Houston and New Orleans. Around 11,000 people call this quiet rural town home, and nearly a third of the population lives below the poverty line.

Now, they’ve got more to worry about than just keeping food on the table… Locals think a serial killer is on the loose, and it’s got everyone on edge.

Between 2006 and 2009, 8 girls were killed and dumped on the lonely backroads of the Parish. Girls from the wrong side of the tracks… the badlands of drugs and poverty.

Whoever killed them is still out there, meaning that any day, another innocent girl could join the ranks of The Brutal Bayou murders.

The victims share two things — they were all high when they died, and many of them hung out at a party house on the seamy south side of town. But they’re different races, and they were killed in different sadistic ways. Are police sure it’s a serial killer?

There is a thread here on WS dedicated to the Jennings Victims. These definitely cannot be tied to BSL because he was in prison when they began and was only free during the last murder- of Necole Guillory.

I live in Opelousas, Louisiana and there is a casino here called Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino. I frequent a bar there to listen to band s play and hear the local DJ. When I saw his mugshot on tv I was chilled to the bone, because I would see him there quite often. As more details come out I become more creeped out, it's just scary, especially with my younger sister being Mickey's age. Rest in peace angel.

I thought he was released from prison 08/09/2008?

You are correct. But there has been some speculation due to his probation beginning 11/15/2007. I don't have the link handy to his RSO record, but a copy of it is posted in post #45 of this thread. I don't think he could have been "out" before his release date, but I also don't know in what circumstance probation can start before parole.

I wanted to answer this a couple of pages back, but thought I would read all of the posts first incase it was answered. He earned good time off the backend of his sentence.
Even though he is listed as being in prison in 2008 he was released (could of been 1/2 way house then to parole)
http://www.kplctv.com/story/19232785...-schunick-case Lavergne would end up spending nearly three more years at Avoyelles Correctional Center before being released on parole two years early. At this point he's only a known suspect in two murders.

and someone asked why he was moved around so much when he was in prison.
stayed in jail til sentences, then he most likely went to an evaluation center (to see how messed up he really was-to decide where to place him) he was then sent to wherever it was that was available or recommend by the evaluation people. Then if he was a good boy he would have the opportunity to be moved to a place with less rules. (max, to med? to min) then to 1/2 way house and then paroled. All while being listed as incarcerated.

I'm searching for the document and I'll post when I find it but I am 99% sure I read he was at in prison until 8/08 then went to a halfway house for a couple of months.

The cellmate's report is interesting, certainly, and I know that different folks are going to be reading a lot of different things into it -- and I agree with those who think that, actually, it's no hard evidence of much of anything, alone.

One thing I'm wondering, for those who are speculating:

http://www.kplctv.com/story/19232785/former-fellow-inmate-speaks-out-about-suspect-in-schunick-case

Is there some possible significance to be "read into" BSL's transfer happening just after he reportedly was questioned about the other cases?
I'm sort of figuring there must be, or the information wouldn't be presented in the way it is -- but I'm missing what it could possibly be.

I have to agree especially with the "moved within 24 hours".

I think that is too coincidental to be ignored.

My understanding that he was a good guy while in the pokey and after 85% of his time is completed he is awarded early parole-I think his RSO shows he was paroled while he was still considered incarserated by the state.

this is MOO I could be totally wrong

I hope they check into the case of the young 16 year old last name Lowitzer. She has been missing for two years.

Just wanted to clarify, this is Brandon Scott Lavergne you are referencing. Not the Brandon Paul Lavergne who was arrested today for arson and had his mug on tv tonite.

so BSL is 33 and murdered Lisa in 1999 at age 20 and Mickey in 2012.
What years was he in jail for RSO?
Is there a pattern to this?
I'm sorry I haven't followed him, just Mickey.

So if BSL was questioned in 2005 regarding 3 unsolved murders, and if Lisa Pate is one of those, this must mean that there are 2 more that they suspect him of according to this.

"The former inmate says he wasn't necessarily friends with Lavergne, but the two did talk to one another. While Lavergne was serving time, investigators questioned him on 3 unsolved murders."

Texas missing and murdered from KateB's list. Link to google map and photo.

Samantha Schauer and Ali Lowitzer went missing within four months of each other. There's a lot of information out there about Ali, but almost nothing about Samantha. That's so sad. She's still listed in NamUs, so I'm assuming that she is still missing.

This is the article I used to base the timeline for his incarceration. No mention of a halfway house here, though I don't doubt you read it elsewhere.

He pleaded guilty and was convicted on Feb. 25, 2000, to the aggravated oral sexual battery charge in exchange for prosecutors dropping the aggravated burglary charge. Brandon Lavergne was imprisoned at Pine Prairie Detention Center from Feb. 25, 2000, through July 5, 2000, according to Pam Laborde, communications director with the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
After passing through the Reception and Diagnostic Center at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center for assessment and assignment, he served from July 31, 2000, through Jan. 14, 2002, at the Winn Correctional Center. He was transferred to C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center in DeQuincy in Calcasieu Parish, where he remained through Sept. 22, 2005, and was transferred to Avoyelles Correctional Center where he served through Aug. 9, 2008, Laborde said.
"He was released on Good Time Parole Supervision after serving the required 85 percent of his sentence," she said.
Lavergne registered as a Tier III sex offender, which requires registration and notification of neighbors for life. He was released from supervision on Feb. 10, 2010.

This is where it says his probation period was from 11/2007 to 11/2010.

Oh, and about the prison/correctional/detention systems around La......I know somewhat about them also. My brother spent many years back and forth.

It is very easy to get a work program at these jails or centers if you have a skill. My brother actually use to get put in jail, then a few weeks later he would be working for the highway dept. My brother is a certified welder, so it helped that he had a skill. The detention center would put him to work, take some of the money, then they would give him some, the rest they put into an account for him for when he was released. So my brother would work 8-5 at a normal job and then go back to the center. He even got to wear regular clothes.

(thankful he grew up and got his life together)
