Now the wording on that poster is confusing to me...maybe it's semantics but the way it's worded it makes me think that the 12:30 time almost sounds like the last time Wylma saw them.:banghead:

If you run the first two sentences in the same thought versus separating the two it sounds to me like that is just a little less descriptive on the exact time Grandma saw them last.

What is the date on that report/poster created? Possibly before the last confirmed sighting changed to 12:15 for Grandma and 12:19 on CCTV? If not...we now have to add 12:30 confirmed sighting to the mix too? :banghead:

Its probably gma's original time and later was changed

Could the jogger pinpointing a time, and they were also seen at 2pm be two different things. And the jogger being mistaken as a cyclist that rides around the lake regularly. Thats how i took it cause i havent heard of a jogger finding the bikes, you can correct me if I am wrong

That's what I always thought too, Skylar. And I agree with Marilyn. You are my new favorite poster! :rocker:

I thought the same thing as you did and always figured that the jogger was the cyclist and just misquoted by FBI. I did think there was a jogger that Tammy spoke to, but that existence of that person was never validated by LE. It was my thought that Breault was jumbling them together.

And I'm going to confuse things further by saying gramma originally said 11.30, and Tammy repeated it.

It only changed once the cctv became public.

When my mother and I, the grandmother who was babysitting, when my mother and I went on our search for them, and this was at about a quarter to 3 -- and keep in mind the last they were seen was at 11:30 a.m., when they told mom they were going on the bike ride. So that is the last time they were for sure seen. And now, it`s going on to -- it`s getting close to being a quarter to 3.

The girls went for a bike ride at about 11:30. They were riding where they were allowed to be until about 12:30, when Wylma became concerned because she could no longer see the children. That doesn't allow for the possibility that the children were anywhere except where they were allowed to be (not a couple of blocks away at a grocery store). At 12:15 they were where they were supposed to be, and there is information that at 12:23 they were where they were supposed to be. This doesn't leave any room for the girls to be where they were not supposed to be at any time prior to 12:23 ... and at that time they were going East.

It seems to me that what is important is the last known sighting of the girls. Wylma last saw the girls riding their bikes towards the parking lot at the old post office. After that time, the girls were seen riding East on Brovan Blvd. That is the last known confirmed sighting of the girls. They were not heading towards Meyers Lake, and they were not heading towards the Evansdale Nature Trail that connects with Lafayette. They were heading East towards River Forest Road. Hypothetically, if someone behind a store told the children to ride on the Evansdale Nature Trail, clearly the children ignored that information because they were last seen a few blocks away going in the opposite direction.

Really? All this time I thought they were traveling west on Brovan.

I thought they had said it was dug for 380. I can't be sure then, it was before I can remember or before I was born but I know it wasn't altered this past summer at all.

I have relatives who live on Elmer, and they built their house in the early 80s. The lake was there then. Also, 380 opened about the time I graduated from hs in '83. So if it was manmade, then it would be about 1979/80 or so.

Someone posted historical aerial views from decades ago and I thought there was a lake there early and the lake area had changed.....but now I'm not sure.:waitasec: Ollipop or Otto posted them. Otto would know either way and could prolly post the photos again.l

We were sleuthing Maiden Lane...which was a road at one time.

The lake was there ...

Here's the 1930s

The email from Kent Smock

At this time I cannot give specifics on the investigatios timeline other then what is already public. Releasing information that would be known only to the person who has the girls could jeopardize our investigation.

There is a video from Corn Belt Auctions that shows two girls on bicycles riding on Brovan at 12:11 pm. The girls were reported missing by Elizabeth's mother shortly before 3 and the bicycles were found near Meyers Lake shortly before 4pm.

This was sent to my on 9/25/12 after I had asked about what is actually confirmed sitings and what is not. I specifically asked about the Brovan siting.

If u look at the info that was already released by then, he left some things out . I guess that makes me feel like they put it out there to see if anyone could verify or confirm it. JMO

Authorities will keep secret for an undetermined amount of time the cause of death of two northeast Iowa cousins whose bodies were found in a park in December, officials said Wednesday.

In addition, authorities do not have immediate plans to release other information related to the cousins’ deaths.

Details of when and how the cousins were killed will remain confidential as the investigation into their deaths continues, Evansdale Police Chief Kent Smock said Wednesday.

“Part of that is, the only people that are going to know this information are the people who are responsible,” Smock said. “At least until somebody is arrested and we’re comfortable with that, that’s information we’ll keep confidential.”

Family members have said they were told by law enforcement officials that the girls most likely were killed within a few days of their disappearance, but authorities have declined to say whether that is the case.

The girls’ bodies have not yet been released to their families, officials said.

Collins’ parents have said they do not want to know how their daughter died. Other family members said they do want that information.

The cause and manner of death are considered public information under Iowa’s open-records law, “unless disclosure would jeopardize an investigation or pose a clear and present danger to the public safety or the safety of an individual.”

No mention of the bikes being found at 2:00 either. He only confirmed the corn belt auction video. Very interesting. I think the girls were seen after that video, but LE isn't putting it out there. Just my opinion, though.

We have information that the girls were seen approximately 12:23 p.m. on Brovan Blvd. and between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m. on Gilbert DR. in the area of Meyers Lake in Evansdale.”

I'm not ready to discard the other times provided by investigators.

PEOPLE responsible? Or was that just weird wording? Very interesting article. Thank you for posting!

I've tried to tell you all that LE will withhold info and even twist info but nobody wanted to listen to what I had to say. I was LE, now retired, and my son is a Deputy Sheriff but everybody thought I didn't know what I was talking about. Its just like my son making the statement that LE could have been behind this so called rift in the family to where there was two separate celebrations of life so it gave them a chance for a second look at who showed up. Sorry for the rant, but it just proved my point.

But her email was dated 9/25/12. He wouldn't confirm very much in that email.
