To those who know her:

thank you so much for joining and enlightening us!

MMQC: When BF/F showed up at your house, did he say anything about an argument that led her to get out of the car abruptly?

Did he seem worried or angry when he showed up, or did he just seem to think she needed time to cool off (if he even mentioned an argument) ?

Ok, any idea where she was going? I guess not. What time did she get on the bus, at 10pm? Or earlier? So, BF/F came to your house. And, Sylvia's house?

Did buses circulate on SI at that hour? Maybe they did until 11pm? I am guessing you could take a bus to Brooklyn, to NYC, back then until midnight or thereabouts.

MMQC - I know this is a barrage of questions... We were under the impression that BF/F went to Sylvia's house. And the time window was always speculative. imo.

I wonder if anyone obtained the original LE file. Not sure how that works, but I would guess the family might have access, or maybe a lawyer is required to access it. It's interesting that you were contacted by the cold case det. which means your name is in that file....

I cannot say for sure about the BF/F going to her home. Very foggy about that. To my recollection no. Don't know for sure if BF/F ever went back. Or what contact BF/F ever had after that night in Sept 1975.
What I do know for sure is the contact that BF/F and I had.

He did say they had a fight and she stormed out of the car by the mall. He seemed angry.

I penned a really long history LN and through some computer issues mine went off before I could post.

Having company for the holiday this weekend so I'll not be able to spend the time I would like. I'll be checking in on and off.

SL; a very tallented young woman. Pets, music and art come to mind. The love of nature and the outdoors. A girly girl and a tomboy all in one package. Beautiful smile. Shy and reserved. Well thought out replies before speaking. She would have proven to be a real proverbs 31 woman. Talents beyond expectations. Not boastful or prideful.

This happens to me all the time b/c I'm so wordy :)
I have recovered a post before -- if you are using explorer, after you sign on again, you can use the option called "restore last browsing session." You might also have to use back arrows until you reach the post.

Sometimes, if I know I have something long to get out of my head, I write my thoughts in a word document and then move them to the post.

Sorry you had to go through that. It's no fun to lose a post.

Back then local busses ran 24/7 with a big gap after 8 PM or so. To manhattan? I guess but not on that route. I remember Xpress busses to Manhattan but only during Rush hour. To brooklyn yes but totally on the other side of SI. Would not even venture a gusss how to get there by bus.

As far as being contacted by the cold case Det. It was because JL got involved. I was supposed to give a deposition but cold case detective did not follow up. I gave info over the phone but not in person.

Long bike rides from home to GK park, now called Gateway Park I think. Spending time at the beach. Using a saneing net(not sure of the spelling) to gather specimens for salt water tank. I remember collecting these tiny sea horses in the net. Next I knew they were her new pets in the tank. Walking on the beach at low tide getting squirted by the piss clams in the sand. If not the actual name, it was a well suited name by far.

As a young girl in Jr. HS a pension for badmitton. We used to play the teachers back then in doubles. We won several matches. LOL Then we'd switch and she would be with one of the teachers. I remember how embarrased she was when the teacher said you get it and she instead of hitting the birdie hit the teacher in the behind with a thwat! I rolled on the floor laughing and you could have cooked an egg on her face it turned so red.

Seahorses -- amazing! Not the shore it is today. I remember lots of starfish too -- even sand dollars -- at the Jersey shore in those days. BTW, I have even seen p__s clams on menus -- spelled that way too -- they're steamers. We used to dig for them when the waves receded, then cook them up. How nice for you both to grow up around that.

There were several bus stops she could have waited at for a bus to come. One side of the street the bus would have gone North, away from home toward Wagner, The other side would have gone south toward home. Only about 6-7 miles to home.

Just not sure of the time line from the BF/F. My home
10-ish. Movie time? Picked up from home 6-7-ish? Long time in between. Even movie would not have been long either? Most busses just made giant circles around SI.
When I search my memory my mind travels to Farrels? Ice Cream Parlor/restaurant. It was a favorite after a movie.

Was Farrell's inside the mall? I am confusing Farrell's and Friendly's.. I know at least one of them was inside the mall.

A bit of history with this answer. Father met mother in Germany where he was stationed. She had a tatoo'd number on her arm.

LE was not her friend back in GE. Trust issues in my mind. Her mother said she did not want to label SL as unstable or attract undue attention to a possible return. Might hinder her higher education or job prospects if a full blown media attack was forthcoming. At the time I probably agreed. Now, as the saying goes hind sight is 20-20.

My turn to ask you about an abbreviation: GE?

Who had a tattoo on their arm? Eva Lwowski had no tattoo at all on her!

I'll give it another try. Each time I try to reply to this thread I get kicked off the site.

I would swear on my life EL had tat. You are verified insider though and you should know.

He did say they had a fight and she stormed out of the car by the mall. He seemed angry.

Am I correct to assume that there was no known history of violence on the part of BF/F?

It sounds as if SL's mother considered the possibility that SL may have left on her own. Is that a fair statement? And if so, were there any prior events that would have led her to consider that possibility?

Mother hung on the belief that I knew where SL was all through the years.

Where are you getting this information? You need to link up if you are not a verified insider. :tyou:

Farrels was accessable to the mall. They had a direct entrance to the parking lot and one through the mall. It was located on the lower level on the Richmond Ave side toward Sears.

Ok, so it was not a zippy thing getting off the island at 10pm on a Saturday night, by bus.

I guess I speculate (perhaps wildly), taking everything at face value, could she have called another friend? You mentioned an ice cream place, were there any other late night establishments around? Could she have called someone to pick her up? A male friend? I remember the nights in shining armor of my youth who would try and facilitate a trip to the moon and back for a damsel in distress? She may not have told anyone of this night in shining armor if she were unhappy in her relationship???

MMQC - IMO It is clear to me you are Sylvia's long standing best girl friend - are you becoming verified? Or, in the process? --Just curious.

ASW -- are you having technical difficulties with the site? You are a VI and we are all interested in what you have to say, but take your time -- we don't want to lose you over frustration. You can post without relating it to any particular comments. Maybe it would be easier for you to just start talking about your own experiences with SL?

Charles came over to the residents around 5pm to see a movie Sylvia at a cinema about 20 min away. The theater was were Crazy Eddies was off Richmond Ave just south off the Staten Island Mall. Charles returned to the house approx. 10:30 stating that during an argument Sylvia had thrown her glasses against the dash board of the car and ran off. Eva Lwowski called the 122pct and tried to report a missing person but could not because see wasn't missing for 24 hrs. yet. Eva then got in the car and drove around the Staten Island Mall, but didn’t see her. A close family friend had also taken a ride around the Mall to look, but saw nothing. The following day, Eva went to 122 pct to make a formal missing persons report and the police basically said she was over 21 and didn’t really spend to much time or resources in locating her. A week or two later the family hired a privet investigator and am not sure of the outcome of that investigation except a different version of her running off came out. Charles first said that at a stop sign, in the heat of an argument, she fled the car. The P I's version was that during a traffic jam, she then fled the car. The days and weeks following her disappearance, Charles wouldn't answer and more questions concerning Sylvia.

Do you have any idea why Eva would have described SL to police as "depressed"? Did she have any kind of medical history that would support that? Or did LE perhaps bait her with that question?
