Officials still don't know the gender or identity of the deceased. Long said it was likely the body had been decomposing for at least a year, but possibly fewer than five years.

There aren't a lot of missing person's cases in Missouri that fit this description - missing less than 5 years and still a pre-teen. Of course, it could also be that they didn't die immediately after they went missing, too. They could also be from just about anywhere.

The red marker is what is called Dogpatch Corner. The body was found a little south of there. This shows the relation to I-44 which is the main artery through this part of Missouri - connecting St. Louis with Tulsa/OKC.

Not many possiblities if correct about the age and timeframe. Here is one maybe :

Only one I found this morning too when I first saw the story. Hopefully we can get some more information.

I found a few, just going by "pre-teen". Not sure how "pre" that is indicating. Going with the possibility that he/she could have been missing well before they died:

That's everybody listed as Missouri on NCEC that would currently be less than 13.

Just wanted to point out that the only two on this list that are "endangered missing" are Lisa Irwin and Allyson Corrales. The rest are listed as "family abduction". Allyson is possibly in the custody of her father, Luis Corrales. Her mother was found dead in their apartment in Kansas City when Allyson went missing. Here is her Charley Project page:

I wish they would give us a little more info on what age child.

I really wish they'd give us more info on the age. Pre-teen and adolescent are quite vague. They also say the remains could be 1-5 years decomped. My first thought was Lisa Irwin. Yes, I know she was a baby and there is a difference between baby bones and older child bones, but the description of the remains is vague. ALL JMO!!!

I was thinking the same thing. Not sure they would even say "child" or "baby" for that very reason. Pre-teen adolescent to me is a blanket age to keep people from speculating.

DIXON, Mo. (AP) -- A sheriff says the cause of death of a child whose remains were found in south-central Missouri might never be known, but investigators hope to learn the identity.

A photographer taking pictures of trees discovered the skeletal remains on Saturday on private, rural property near Dixon, about 30 feet from a road.

The Lake Sun Leader reports Pulaski County Sheriff Ron Long said Monday the remains appear to have been at the site at least a year. A forensic pathologist concluded they were those of a preteen adolescent, but the gender is unknown.
