124lbs of marijuana and $56K in cash sound like enough to me...but I don't have a law degree. I find it interesting that they waived their right to a jury trial and went with a judge...may be legit...or may be I'm just too jaded as my hinky meter is going off.
 
Cheatham had three boating citations in 2011. Made me think of how easy it would be to dispose of a body in that manner. Does he still have that boat, or did he have it in 2013?

Neal my son, I Search For You

I searched for you in the unfamiliar tall pines and darkly forested mountainsides,
I searched for you by the cold, deep lakes and rocky streams,
I searched for you in the distant clouds and in the endless night sky,
I cried out to the Universe for you.
I searched for you in my photos.
I searched for you in the stories your friends sent me
I searched for you in the places your father and I took you when you were small,
I searched where you loved best, this island,
I searched for you at your favorite cove where we watched the dolphins play,

I apologize if this isn't relevant because I haven't kept up on this case as much as I usually do, but I wanted to bring this to the attention of those who follow any cases of people missing near this area. Skeletal remains were found in the Sacramento river in Glenn County. The river name might be misleading - this is quite a bit North of Sacramento (roughly 2 hours).

Thanks KateB, it was Neal's Grandpa that passed away yesterday. It is a little confusing, but here is another post from Neal's mom on the Missing NEAL KING FB Page:

My father in law, Neal P. King passed away today. Neal's uncle Neal passed away 3 years ago on his father Neals birthday, March 30th, Neal disappeared on March 26th and I felt him leave this earth on March 30th, it has been 2 long years. All three Neal Kings are together and are dearly missed. March is a hard month for us.

So Neal, his grandfather and Uncle (all named Neal) all passed in March of separate years. I don't think we have ever heard much about Neal's dad (?)

ETA: Neal's mom writes in comments that they never told Papaw Neal that young Neal was missing :tears: breaks my heart

just wanted to add that I think of Neal often. I believe he is somewhere up there in the hills of Oroville/Berry Creek...

I can't imagine Don Cheatham taking him elsewhere. I think he knew the area very very well.

Oh gosh, I haven't thought of Neal and his beautiful Mom in years. I wonder if Cheatham ever told anyone where Neal's body is?
