I have read posts stating that Casey dissociated after the events of June 16th and others labeling her a sociopath with no remorse. We have seen the partying photos and have heard about the avoidance behaviors. These are offerings into her private moments and perhaps glimpses into her state of mind during that time period. Of course, we don't know what she was thinking but they offer another side. I am sure there will be differeing and opposing interpretations of the actions delineated above. Does it show remorse or torment? Does it indicate consiousness of guilt? Does it show she was thinking of Caylee? What do you think?
 
I believe it shows Casey memorializing her daughters murder. Kinda like how some killers save articles from their victims..MOO
 
Wow, Harmony. Really good thread. The most telling thing for me is the drawing regarding the DP. That tells me there was a conciousness of guilt there. A lot of the rest of it was just immature girl junk (like the stuff in her photobucket) although I must admit, I got bored around image 20something and didn't look at all 96 yet.

TY for putting all this together. Any clues into the workings of Casey's mind are helpful to me.
 
I believe she felt all of those things - torment, remorse, guilt. She would have to be completely inhuman not to. I'd like to add fear to the list. Fear of getting caught. How deeply and how long she felt the the torment, remorse and guilt is another story. I'd wager it wasn't very long. Casey's main concern is Casey.
 
I remember being taken aback by the number of images of skulls and hearts that she was drawn to. There was a running theme/pattern in that she was drawn to these images over and over. A sort of death and love enmeshment that I found quite disturbing.

ITA Serial killers revisit the scene of the crime and keep trophies.
KC does not feel remorse for Caylee; she only feels sad for herself.

ITA Pensfan. It shows me that she had remorse and conscienceness of guilt and feared getting caught and facing the death penalty.

What I am not seeing is remorse as far as the act itself. I just don't see it. Only self preservation type thoughts.

KC sent Caylee into the "dark" (killed her) because of "love".
She had to protect Caylee from Cindy, so this gave her an excuse to killed her.

Something about the "LOVE" picture has always bothered me but I cannot put my finger on why. Maybe I am reading too much into it but I think it has a lot of meaning to this case and Casey's frame of mind but I can't figure out exactly what it means or why it bothers me so much.

Thanks for starting this thread, Harmony. Your 1st post on it is really interesting.

I do think that during the 1st week of July Casey was having some oopsy...maybe killing Caylee wasn't the best idea thoughts. Casey was having a rough time. Here's what was going on in Casey's life the 1st week of July:


  • On June 30 Tony left for NY. He DIDN'T reassure Casey that he was coming back and that he'd NEVER leave her because she was the love of his life. He did just the opposite. He teased and said maybe he wasn't EVER coming back. I think Tony wanted to get a rise out of Casey because her heartbreak over the thought of losing him was flattering. It validated his hotness. But, that kind of teasing is a needy girl's worst nightmare. It is rejection. It's being abandoned.
  • Cindy was on vacation that week. She was calling Casey A LOT. If Cindy cried and begged to see Caylee that couldn't have been pleasant. Stress, stress, more stress and drama. Casey had to work harder to keep Cindy soothed and placated. She had to tell bigger stories and promise to come home...rinse, lather, repeat...
  • Cindy was calling Casey's friends while on vacation. Cindy also sent Lee out to look for Casey. Yikes! Cindy wasn't being totally gullible and was actually checking up on Casey. If Cindy found out Casey didn't have Caylee what would she do????? Yikes! Yikes! Yikes!
  • According to Casey's phone pings she didn't have a bed on June 30/July 1. That would depress anyone.
  • Needy Casey was all alone. Really alone. And homeless. She couldn't sneak into her parent's house (her security blanket) during the day because Cindy was on vacation and in the house.
  • While Tony was out of town Casey wasn't able to stay at his apartment. She had to suck it up and stay with Ricardo because that is where Amy was reduced to staying (due to Casey's lies). Think about how it would feel to have staked everything on "Tony's love" and then to have Tony not let you stay in his apartment while he was gone? How would it feel to hear Tony say he wasn't coming back?

Despite Casey's optimistic "bella vita" tattoo, it seems like the first week of July was a pretty tough time for Casey. She may have been nostalgic for the good parts of being with Caylee. She might have missed Caylee. I don't think people, even evil killers, are 100% a certain way all of the time. I believe Casey deliberately killed Caylee. But, I also believe she could have moments where she wished/wishes she hadn't done it. I don't believe that means Casey empathizes/empathized with what Caylee went through. IIMO, Casey's main focus is always Casey. I think Casey might miss what she received from Caylee...the kudos for being a "good mom", the cuddles, snuggles, kisses and unconditional love.

A faceless child? Possibly how Caylee looked when she killed her?
 
A long time ago, I read "The Fifth Nail", Joseph Duncan's blog. Joseph Duncan was a serial killer, a molester of children and a total monster. Before committing his final murders, Duncan spent months recording his thoughts and insights on "The Fifth Nail".

I think Casey's "Diary of Days" and the pictures Casey uploaded are like Duncan's blog. They were Casey's artistic outlet to memorialize her deep thoughts and feelings. I see the same sense of grandeur in Casey's poem, "Diary of Days" that I saw in Duncan's blog.

If I am understanding the pdf correctly the "LOVE" picture was downloaded the same timeframe as the "La Vita Bella" icon.

Personally my take on that photo is the following:

* The girl looks like Casey to me and she is standing at the entrance to a wooded area that looks alot like the entrance into the remain's site. This is 10 days after Caylee has gone missing.

* The darkness to the face area represents the part of her persona she hides from others

* The 'LOVE' represents her love for herself

* The thickness of the word 'LOVE' resembles the width of duct tape

I have an overactive imagination so this is just my interpretation... May not be the case... :twocents:

Google Joseph Duncan or 'The Fifth Nail". Duncan seemed to put a lot of thought into his writing. What I remember most about it is how he managed to turn his words of remorse for past bad acts into 'poor me". Through his creation, his blog, Duncan made a statement.

I'm thinking that Casey's "Diary of Days" and the pictures Casey saved are Casey's artistic outpourings. Killers can't relieve anxieties or review their day-to-day lives through talk. But, through her poem and her 'art" (pasted pictures), Casey could make statements.

I always suspected that Casey was attracted to that pic for several reasons. I think most of us agree that it looks like the remains site. The word love is intriguing, because the dark background and the brightness of the word love stand in stark contrast.

At first I thought the word "love" was a sign of remorse. Sort of an "I miss you and I'm sorry" to Caylee.

However, the more I thought about it, I think it's meant to be ironic. The word "love" is plastered over this dark, almost evil haunting picture. I think she is telling us that love -- at least hers -- is dark, sick and twisted and she knows it. She doesn't understand what love really is. The child she is supposed to "love" she murders. The mother she is supposed to "love" she punishes.

I'm probably not explaining this well. Hopefully, someone can put together a coherent thought from my ramblings.
 
We have to remember from her jailhouse rambling, sneaky letters, Casey thought this was a favor to Caylee.
She wouldn't feel hurt or abuse (in her eyes, I don't know how being murdered doesn't hurt or count as the worst case of abuse) she lived fast and died pretty/innocent. The beautiful life. Sacrificed out of love.

She also did this for love. For the possibility of Tony and taking her away. The beautiful life.

She doesn't like the dark so the word love is very luminous. And like everyone else said, it's the foliage behind the love that is the most disturbing.
 
Casey's frame of mind...Funny, all I can picture is a vast empty space.
