Additionally, husband stated that Jennifer had been shopping for a gift and was interested in purchasing a dress which I presume would be for her to wear.

If true, this occurred "earlier in the month" which would indicate this was as recent as sometime during the 10 days prior to her disappearance (Went missing on December 11.).

In other words, could Jennifer have so quickly become so despairingly depressed as to cause self-injury when just days prior to her disappearance she was shopping for a gift for another (thinking of others) and a dress for herself (thinking of her own desires and needs)?

BBM -- I have actually heard of people making plans and carrying on with life as usual right up until the moment of their suicide, and no one around them noticing that anything was different. It doesn't seem like this would be the case, does it!? And I don't have any statistics to add or anything, but I've definitely heard/read about this before.

ETA: When I read back what I wrote here, it sounds like an ignorant post, which it is! Take it with a grain of salt, for sure, as I know little to nothing about suicide. But I do remember reading or hearing about people who have committed suicide, and people close to them recalling that the person had recently discussed future plans. FWIW. I believe it was during some discussion on another case I was following.

We have learned that Jennifer's husband is into fitness and health (marathon runner, "well-equipped indoor gym," and fund-raising to raise awareness of medical issue/s he became passionate about).

Therefore, IMO only, I tend to believe that were Jennifer suffering from such a level of despondency that such an act would require, he would have noted it and taken steps to assist in treatment needed.

Lavanda,

Curious to know if you have spoken to just GR, or if you have spoken with JR's parents as well, especially the dad since he found her car. Are there any photos of the van with the unusual mud on it.

Thanks!

Also, on the JR.com site under Updates (Clarifications), we learn that Jennifer's weight loss appears to be due to her dieting prior to going missing, and not from any medical condition or an increasingly debilitating despondency. Jennifer even appeared proud to those around her of her recent success at losing weight.

Good point. From her fb pictures before they were privatized, she also appeared to be doing some running. That would surely make one lose weight.

O/T.... I just realized why the name Lavanda sounds so familiar (sometimes in my mind I say it rhyming with "panda" and sometimes rhyming with "Wanda") -- it sounds like LaFawnduh from Napoleon Dynamite!!

sorry, just had to share :blushing:

I'm assuming your talking about a theory of "what-if" self harm? What I know is the dress was to be a special one for her daughter for the Christmas program. (Not for herself. Jennifer has not worn dresses in years.) The gift was for Remy, her husband.

If this is in fact true, then stands to reason that Jennifer did not up and leave willingly.......

Possibly yes, possibly no. 3 years ago we had a father commit suicide and right before Christmas and he had gifts in his trunk:( Today his wife is still devastated and having a hard time accepting it:(
This is not to say that I believe Jennifer committed suicide. I was just giving an example.

I have not seen anything in MSM nor from LE that suggests that Jennifer was/is medically or psychologically at risk.

For the most part, LE only reports a clinical, psychological or cognitive disorder at the onset if and when it has been diagnosed by a physician prior to their missing status. Also in many cases our missing may have diagnosed bipolar and families do not want that information divulged. In Jennifers case I can tell you she has not been diagnosed as having any psychological disorders. As far as medical, that is something that we would say would be considered "undetermined" and the reason is many times those missing that are located safely, and did not leave for "selfish reasons" such as with another mate, upon return are almost always diagnosed with either a medical or emotional condition.

<Mod Snip>

We are still allowed to have opinions though right? we can still have the opinion that we believe some harm has come to her without saying who we think harmed her. That's not against the rules is it?:waitasec:

Yes, there was alot of snow then - like 2 feet. If you were the kids father - wouldn't you go back to where you split up and just follow his tracks? Also, if you were 13, wouldn't you just backtrack your tracks... the entire thing was wierd.. and LE and WSAR were involved. Wierd treatment (hadn't even been 12 hours) but not for Jennifer. Even more strange.

Children always receive immediate help. The weather that night was pretty bad too and they had professionals searching and the last they want is to end up searching for public help who invariably could get lost or hurt. Yes, I believe it was an actual search and not a search for Jennifer...they would not schedule a search in the dark. Here is the follow up: http://centralny.ynn.com/content/top_stories/624435/young-hunter-found-after-large-search-in-north-norwich/

Wait, I'm confused. The gift for GR was her wearing a dress?

I don't get it. Lavanda, I'm guessing that you have spoken in great length with her husband. You know quite a bit of personal things in such a short time.

Maybe with her recent weight loss, she felt good enough about her body to actually step out of her comfort zone.

I relate!

Yes, I've spoken with her father. I cannot say if either have photos of the van with mud on it nor would I be able to provide those photos as they would be part of the evidence, if they exist, and only PD can release them.

At this point- any effort and money spent should be on SAR imo

Yes. She was very excited that she hit a huge mark (goal) with her weight loss.

If her father took photos, since he found the van- unless asked not to by LE- he is free to distribute them however he chooses.

FYI, there was just a preview on TV for the upcomming evening news on WSTM out of Syracuse. They said that they would have an "update" on JR during thier 10:00PM report. Time Warner channel 3 for us locals. For those of you out of town, here is a link to WSTM's website. If you check it after 10:00PM eastern, you should be able to see the news story.

Thank you, thank you for the head's up!! I'm not local so I'll try to catch it on the link. Meanwhile, if anyone watches the local station on tv, could you tell us what they reported? Thanks!

I absolutely positively love that show and my husband always chuckles when he sees someone writing "Lavanda" as that is what he thinks of too! It is actually sweet lavender (lavanda dolce) in Italian. My grandmother used to love lavender and when I was young we had our "secret code" in which she would say "lavanda dolce" which meant it was bath time and I could use her special soaps that nobody else was allowed to ever use. (I was the only granddaughter at the time.)...so that nickname stuck. To this day I smell lavender bath soap and memories of her come flooding back.
