Latest efforts in search for missing girl prove fruitless

Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Johnny Greenwood said questioning Croslin-Cummings' brother and participating in the search were efforts by the law enforcement agency to make sure they cover all bases. And Greenwood repeated that investigators feel there are problems with Croslin-Cummings' reports of what happened that night.

"She's failed to account for her actions that evening," Greenwood said. "There's lots of holes in her statements. The things she said she was doing we verified she wasn't doing."

An attorney for Croslin-Cummings could not be reached Monday afternoon about the results of the search or comments from the Sheriff's Office.

In an unrecorded comment, Croslin-Cummings allegedly told the founder of the search firm there was an area that may not have been adequately searched for the girl. She said searchers should look for a red rose and provided a location.

The flower had previously been located and the area was shown to investigators before the weekend search.

The rose was located on some of the property behind the family's previous residence, he said.

Searchers looked for anything out of the ordinary, Giles said, such as signs of a struggle or disturbed ground.

Although nothing was located, Giles said it was a good search because at least it helps eliminate one area and may put investigators closer to concentrating on other locations.

Haleigh Cummings: Misty, Ron disagree sharply with Tim Miller
posted by halboedeker on Sep 1, 2009 4:32:51 PM
<snipped>
The saga of Haleigh Cummings is getting curiouser and curiouser.

Ron and Misty Cummings are claiming that Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch took them out of town and tricked them. The couple hoped that Miller would help them find the missing child.

The Cummings talked to the NBC affiliate in Jacksonville, and WESH-Channel 2 aired the segment this afternoon. Misty put Miller's offer this way: "take you to Orlando to get you away because your days are numbered." Misty added, "I didn't know what to say to him."

Miller countered that he offered to take the couple away from the stresses in Putnam County associated with Haleigh's disappearance. Ron is the child's father. Misty was caring for the child when she disappeared; Misty later married Ron.

The latest development in the story reads as a they say/he says saga.

Ron Cummings said he doesn't believe Misty knows anything that will help find Haleigh. Yet the latest news doesn't offer a lot of hope in the search for the child.

Although investigators said these latest private tests indicated Misty Cummings is withholding vital information, Ronald Cummings said he stands by his wife.

"My feelings are we need to find my daughter," Ronald Cummings said. "I don't think she has any information that will help find Haleigh."

Misty and Ronald Cummings say they hoped Tim Miller of Texas EquuSearch was going to help them find their missing daughter, Haleigh.

But, instead, they claim he took them out of town and tricked them the week of Aug. 20.

But Miller said she begged him to take those tests and the hypnosis was her idea.

Miller Says Haleigh's Father Doubts Wife's Story
Created: 9/1/2009 7:07:41 PM

He told First Coast News Monday "I don't think [Misty] has any information that will help find Haleigh."

Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch told First Coast News this week, "Ron may be saying that now."

Miller said Ronald Cummings told him, as well as Orlando-based attorney Mark NeJame, about two weeks ago that he doubted Misty's story about the night Haleigh disappeared.

Miller told First Coast News, "Ronald's statement right then was, 'The b**** has something to do with Haleigh's disappearance.'"

Misty Cummings has said she put Haleigh to bed that February night at 8:00 and then around 10:00 Misty herself went to sleep.

Miller said Ronald Cummings does not buy that story.

Miller told First Coast News, "He said, 'She had never been to sleep that night.' He said, 'The bed was still made.' He said, 'Nobody had been in the bed.'"

Misty, in an exclusive interview with First Coast News' Jessica Clark, said the bed was not made. "I was sleeping in that bed. How would it be made if someone was sleeping in the bed? I wasn't the only one sleeping in it. Me and his son. How would the bed be made if we were in the bed sleeping in it?"

Miller said Ronald Cummings also told him, "She's lying."

Miller said, NeJame asked Ronald Cummings, "Why did you marry her? [Ronald] said, his exact words were, 'You keep your friends close and your enemies closer.'"

NeJame told First Coast News he would not comment on private conversations, but he added, "Whatever Miller says, you can take it to the bank."

The Hunt for Haleigh Cummings Could Bring Down a Bada** Bounty Hunter
Published on September 01, 2009 at 1:08pm

Bail bondsman William Staubs, AKA "Cobra," pushed open the window to a condo. Inside, Cobra, a large man with stringy blond hair, a meaty face, and an unmistakable hillbilly twang, discovered a kitchen filled with pieces of PVC pipe, a handsaw, and grenades. A shooting target was set up in the living room: a drawing of a soldier with the head as bull's-eye.

Thanks to reality TV, a few people in Cobra's line of work have become celebrities. Duane "Dog" Chapman, a bail bondsman and convicted felon from Hawaii, is now a household name thanks to his A&E show, Dog the Bounty Hunter. Leonard Padilla of California has appeared on the National Geographic Channel's Bounty Hunters and made headlines as a character in the national soap opera surrounding missing toddler 2-year-old Caylee Anthony.

Cobra could be next. He's been in talks with the Discovery Channel for months. But one problem stands in his way: His work on the case of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings has landed Cobra in a world of trouble. He found himself on the wrong side of a pair of handcuffs and is now facing a felony charge himself.

$35K put up for girl's return
Thursday, September 3, 2009 3:27 AM EDT
<snipped>
A Texas businessman has offered $35,000 in response to a claim that Haleigh Cummings could be found for that price.

The money, in the form of a check to Haleigh's father, Ronald, was offered Wednesday by Cypress, Texas, businessman Roy Moffitt, according to Tim Miller, director of the Texas-based search organization EquuSearch.

Miller said the figure was cited in a voice mail he received Tuesday from Cummings' father-in-law Hank Croslin.

In the voice mail, Croslin says Cummings had said he could get Haleigh "back" if he had $35,000, Miller said.

Miller described Moffitt as "a very, very kind person" who backs the search organization. Miller said Moffitt wrote on the check that it was payable only upon Haleigh's return.

"He told me, 'I pray to God that Ronald Cummings has the opportunity to cash this check,'" Miller said.

Moffitt also offered to bring cash to Florida if it would mean the 6-year-old girl could be found, Miller said.

"How do you put a dollar amount on it," Miller said, "if there's a chance that little girl is alive out there?"

"Our goal is just to have Haleigh's picture on TV every day," Terry Shoemaker said. "Even if it involves negative publicity about Misty, it puts Haleigh's face on TV."

Shoemaker began representing Cummings about a week ago when Cummings approached the St. Augustine attorney to defend him from pending charges involving a reported fight with his in-laws.

"Charges have not been filed yet, but obviously our role there is to get the charges dropped before they make a filing decision," Shoemaker said.

Croslin-Cummings has proclaimed that Equusearch founder Tim Miller tricked her into taking a polygraph, a voice analysis and undergoing hypnosis, but Miller said it was her decision to take the tests in effort to clear her name.

"He (Cummings) doesn't have much faith in the way that the polygraph was done or the results of the polygraph," Shoemaker said. "He believes what Misty has told him regarding anything that she might know, and until he gets valid proof or some facts that lead him to believe differently, he's going to stand by her - she's his wife."

Shoemaker said Cummings will do anything is takes to find his daughter, even if it means undergoing another polygraph.

"I know the investigation is continuing. We've met with law enforcement in the past couple of days and we hope to meet with law enforcement again soon to help shed any light on Haleigh's disappearance," Shoemaker said. "We will do anything we can to help resolve this.

Haleigh Cummings: Nancy Grace takes up saga on Monday

Want to know more about the story of missing Haleigh Cummings?

HLN's Nancy Grace will explore the case at 8 and 10 p.m. Monday. The program is a combination of new and old material, an HLN spokeswoman said.

Grace's Web page offers this preview: "What happened to the missing 5-year-old tot, abducted from her own bed, with her teen babysitter & brother in the same room! Cops now call the babysitter's story 'sketchy' & announce they believe Haleigh was not taken by a stranger. What does the babysitter know? Exclusive interviews with key players, including Haleigh's dad and his new wife, the babysitter!"

All those exclamations! I can hear Grace's voice.

Two weeks ago, Misty Cummings tried to clear her name by undergoing hypnosis and a voice analysis test. But the men who gave those tests say she failed.

Misty maintains that she is telling the truth about what happened to little Haleigh when she disappeared from her home in Satsuma.

Authorities say the side door to the trailer that Ronald Cummings lived in with his children and then-girlfriend Misty was propped open with a cinderblock.

Haleigh Update: VIDEO: Dad's Timeline Solidifies
Posted: Saturday, 05 September 2009 7:50AM
<snipped>
More information on the timeline of the father of missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma the night she disappeared has been made public.

During the taping of Friday night's Nancy Grace Show on HLN, I was guest along with Ronald Cummings' mother Teresa Neves and Ronald's attorney Terry Shoemaker among others. Nancy asked me about the reported argument between Ronald and his then-babysitter--now wife Misty over the telephone the evening Haleigh vanished. I told her it took place at about 8:30pm while Ronald was at work.

Earlier I had reported that my sources close to the investigation told me Ronald goes to work at about 4pm and returns home after 3am.

Nancy Grace asked Ronald's attorney Friday night some questions about his timeline on February 9, 2009. Terry Shoemaker said on national television that Ronald picked up Haleigh at the bus stop at 3:30 and Iitt takes him 19 minutes to go from home to work at PDM. Shoemaker then cleared up a significant grey area stating that Ronald usually gets to work about 45 minutes or so early for his 5pm shift at PDM, putting him at work around 4pm but not actually working until 5pm.

Both investigators and PDM officials say Ron was at work the whole shift.

Tim Miller, Director of Texas Equusearch--who arranged for Misty's recent polygraph that she failed, also asked Ronald about his timeline a couple of weeks ago in the law office of Orlando attorney Mark Nejame. Miller account concurs with that of law enforcement officials. Miller also states that Ronald was seen on tape at a convenience store buying beer, cigarettes and peanuts just after 3am February 10, 2009.

Report: Haleigh Tip Leads To New England
Newspaper Says Deputies Talked With Missing Girl's Stepmom's Brother

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Cape Cod Times is reporting that PC investigators traveled to South Yarmouth, Mass., as part of the investigation into Haleigh Cummings' disappearance.

VIDEO REPORT: http://www.clickorlando.com/video/20775867/index.html

The newspaper said Timothy Croslin and his wife were questioned about Haleigh Cummings after a possible sighting of the girl at an area Wal-Mart. Timothy Croslin lives in the area. The report said the couple was interviewed. The police chief said the couple was cooperating with Florida investigators but did not comment on why the couple was questioned.

On Monday, a reporter for the Cape Cod Times said her newspaper received a tip to ask state police about the questioning of Croslin and his wife.

"The sergeant there said, 'Yes, in fact, the Florida county sheriff's department is here interviewing a local family, and that's really all I can say,'" reporter K.C. Myers said. "And he referred all other questions to the district attorney's office."

The DA refused to elaborate, saying his office was assisting the Florida detectives.

Annette Sykes, spoke to WJXT-TV in Jacksonville on Monday after hearing about the report. "There's always hope." They have enough cameras in them Wal-Mart stores and maybe they got one that got a picture of her. And if they did, if they actually have a picture of her, then we can get happy. We may all have to go up there and tear that town apart."

"After this length of time, you tend not to get your hopes up real high because it hurts too much if it's not true, which so often, you know, they've had sightings before, but there's never anything come of it," Sykes said.

The PCSO said it believes Haleigh was taken. Investigators have followed thousands of leads in the case -- several from out of state -- but have not identified anyone who may have taken Haleigh. http://www.clickorlando.com/news/20...orlpn_8pm&tmi=orlpn_8pm_1_07000209072009&ts=H
