The Maryland State Police at the request of Baltimore County Police Department have issued a Maryland Child AMBER Alert for Caitlyn Marie Virts.

LOCATION: The child was last observed at approximately 7 am in the area of Dundalk, MD. The child is believed to have been abducted by the suspect.

VEHICLE: A possible suspect vehicle is a black 1999 Dodge Durango bearing MD registration: 5AJ4458.

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call 911 or Baltimore County Police Department at 410-887-7320. Do not take action which could endanger your safety or further endanger the abducted child.

Amber Alert expands to nationwide search for Md. girl

Law enforcement officials continue to look for an 11-year-old girl who was reported missing after her mother was found dead at a Baltimore County home.

Police say emergency workers called to a Dundalk home Thursday found 36-year-old Bobbie Cortez dead at her home in the 3100 block of Ardee Way in Dundalk, Md. Homicide detectives then learned that Caitlyn Virts was missing from the home.

An Amber Alert was issued for Caitlyn on Thursday. She is believed to be with her father, 38-year-old Timothy Virts.

A search has spread nationwide after an Amber Alert was issued across Maryland Thursday morning for an 11-year-old girl after police said she disappeared from her Dundalk home where her mother was found dead.

An arrest warrant has since been issued for the girl's father in connection with that death, as well as the girl's disappearance. And, an AMBER Alert has been issued in North Carolina.

Maryland State Police issued the alert at 10:46 a.m. Thursday for Caitlyn Marie Virts. Baltimore County police said Caitlyn was last seen around 7 a.m. at her Dundalk home in the 3100 block of Ardee Way.

Baltimore County Police confirm that the Amber Alert is in reference to a homicide. They have identified the victim as the mother of the missing girl, Caitlyn Marie Virts. At 9:13 a.m. this morning, Baltimore County Police and Fire personnel responded to a home in the 3100 block of Ardee Way in Dundalk for a cardiac arrest. Bobby Jo Cortez was found dead in her bedroom and the Homicide Unit is currently conducting a death investigation.

The FBI has issued a warrant for Timothy Virts' arrest for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

This warrant is in addition to the warrant for Virts' arrest on first-degree murder charges, issued this morning by Baltimore County Police.

The FBI's warrant gives federal authorities the ability to arrest Virts anywhere in the United States.

A copy of the FBI's "wanted" poster for Virts is available on the FBI Baltimore Division web site.

National Search For MD Girl And Her Father Who Is A Murder Suspect

Police continue to search for an 11-year-old girl who was reported missing after her mother was found murdered in their home in Dundalk Thursday morning. And now authorities have issued an arrest warrant for the girl's father.

"This afternoon, this will become a national search," Baltimore County police spokeswoman Elisa Armacost said during a press conference on Friday.

Baltimore County Police believe the girl, Caitlyn Virts, is with her father, 38-year-old Timothy Virts, and they are concerned for her safety, department spokeswoman Elise Armacost said. On Friday police issued an arrest warrant for Timothy Virts for the first degree murder of Bobbie Jo Cortez.

Search expands nationwide for missing Maryland girl, 11, one day after 'father killed her mother and kidnapped daughter'

A Maryland man who is believed to have abducted his 11-year-old daughter after killing her mother, is facing a murder charge.

The search for Timothy Virts and his daughter, Caitlyn, has become a nationwide operation, with police believing his daughter could be in danger.

Virts is wanted in connection with the death of his wife, Bobbie Jo Cortez, who was found with multiple cuts to her upper body on Thursday morning.

And this assumes these people are willing to take them in and not notify anyone - which I doubt. Even if he were on good terms with family - it would be askif. a lot. they are probably better off traveling by night and using motels (if cash is accessible).

Timothy Howard Virts and Caitlyn Marie Virts have been located in a Motel in Florence, South Carolina. Mr Virts is in police custody and Caitlyn appears to be unharmed.

On Friday, authorities expanded the Amber Alert on a suspicion that Timothy Virts and his daughter might have been in Garysburg, N.C. By 10:15 p.m., both had been found and Caitlyn was safe.
