17th April, 2014,
Police are re-appealing for information into the disappearance of a man in Sydneys east over 13 years ago.
Gary Moana Payne was last seen by his aunt at her home in Matraville in January 2001. He left the home in the company of an unidentified man.
Gary, then aged 37, has not been seen or heard from since.
Mr Paynes disappearance was reported to police and a number of inquiries have been made by investigators attached to Eastern Beaches Local Area Command.
Police are now re-appealing for information from the public about Mr Paynes disappearance.
Mr Paynes family in his native New Zealand are at a loss to explain his disappearance, said Detective Inspector Stacey Maloney, Eastern Beaches Crime Manager.
It has been over 13 years and that is a long time to worry about a loved one they just want to know where he is.
Inquiries with other agencies have yielded no information as to Mr Paynes whereabouts or his activities.
Police also investigated a Crime Stoppers report which said Mr Payne was living in Perth, Western Australia unfortunately, this line of inquiry was also exhausted.
We are hoping someone can shed light on his disappearance, Detective Inspector Maloney said.
Mr Payne is described as being of Pacific Islander/Maori appearance, about 181cm tall, and with a large build. He is further described as having short dark brown hair and brown eyes.
Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
