That is the type of lid I was picturing. I would not be surprised if NOAH opened it. I say that because as a kid I always tried to open them. I didn't know it was sewage. I was a curious kid. I am curious and nosy. I'd be inclined to open one now if I saw one.

Sources say the septic tank is considered a "high rise" even though it's ground level. There is a plastic lid over the stop of the tank. Sources say the tank is 4 by 8 feet and 5 and a half feet deep. The septic tank holds about 1,000 gallons

If anyone knows any additional information that may help this case, you're asked to call the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office at 540-980-7800.

What information are they seeking?

It looks like a plastic manhole cover. When I was younger, my sis and I and all the neighborhood kids used to go wander around the storm sewer system in our neighborhood. We could go in the manhole in our backyard and then come out out of the manhole in the middle of the pond behind our house -- great fun for us! :) We always put the manhole back on, so no adults would know what we were doing. Just saying.

Okay so I can see how Noah might have fallen in (if plastic broke or lid wasn't secured), and I can see how he might have removed it himself and gotten in or fallen in, but I still CANNOT see how he would go in and the lid would be back in place AND how no LE/searchers noticed that the lid was not secured, for like five days??

How in the world would Noah have gotten the lid back on or it accidentally shut itself if in fact the above picture is the correct type of septic lid?? Doesn't it look like there are screws that would have to be screwed back from the top side???

I just found out that my first cousin and her fiancée rented the white House in front of Noah's mobile home and lived there until just a few months ago. I am going to send a message with the photos of the property she sent me to a moderator so I can get the ok to post them. She also had some interesting encounters with the family that gave me some insight into Noah's too short life. Her 2 girls played with Noah frequently in their shared yard and they are all devastated.

If they did 3 searches over the initial days of his disappearance and didn't see a manhole cover that was broken or completely off given that it is a "high rise" that is clearly visible then someone needs to be held accountable regardless of how Noah ended up there. IMO.

I'm in PA, our ground at that time was starting to thaw, snow melting and our yard is a muddy mess...........

would that make a plastic lid harder or easier to move?

years ago we had a septic and there was earth over the lid with grass..........
my husband mowed over it and it looked like our yard. We knew I was exactly 30 feet from the center of our front porch.
Once we had to have it cleaned out, a crew of men came and it seemed to be a real chore to get to it.
Shame on people who just leave some hazard in their yards.
Please let this be a lesson, if you see some potential hazard in someone's yard call I in. Put something very heavy over the lid.

I can easily see how a curious 5 yr old could open this up and fall in ,(possibly passed out from fumes and then fell in.)I can't see how the lid could easily fall back in place though.I wonder why they won't tell us if they found it covered or uncovered? Could it be that the reason they are not saying it was found uncovered because it will make the police look bad?I wonder where this septic tank was?Under the house or porch where no one noticed it?

If there was a latch I wonder if it was the sort that would automatically latch when the lid dropped down.

I can't find our sewage access but I can see the neighbors, I'm so tempted to go see how it's secured and take a peek inside.

maybe had screws? Since a 'clean out was scheduled'............family having sewer problems?
Did someone remove he screws to look in and then cover it, but not screwing it back up?
Did little Noah think he could help?
curious? fell in? put no one noticed a septic uncovered in the search?
I find that odd that no one would notice an open hole in the yard while looking for a child.
I am anxious to know if Noah had a coat and boots on.

I didn't know a clean scheduled? So yes, maybe the cover had been removed to check and see if work was needed?
Are these things screwed down tight normally? You would think if someone needed to remove the lid, they would remember to fasten it back up safely, especially with little ones about!
Obviously we don't know yet weather the lid was on, off or on but not secured, either way, it should have been checked ASAP.

Why wouldn't the tank be searched anyway, on the first day?? Or at least examined for signs of recent use/opening?

From that article:

Am I reading that right? Mom was asleep for TWO HOURS?!? I havent folllwed to closely because of the type of case this is, I can't handle hoping for a little one to come home and then it ending badly. Easier for me to come in after its all said and done and then look at what's happening. But I'm sorry, and I hope I don't get a time out for this, but taking a two hour nap while your five year old is awake is NEGLIGENT. :maddening::maddening::maddening:

It is negligent, I have fought with someone for years on this subject I absolutely agree!!!!

Hopefully it still contains the fingerprints of all those who have opened/closed it recently.
