Man considered key in Lonzie Barton case prohibited from contacting others involved

The man authorities have identified as the key to finding missing toddler Lonzie Barton was told Tuesday afternoon to have no contact with any witnesses in the case.
Circuit Judge Marianne Aho told William Ruben Ebron Jr., 32, that he could not speak to anyone in the case directly or indirectly. Aho did make an exception for Ebron’s parents, whom he could still speak with if his lawyers are present.
It was a second-straight bad day for Ebron, who had his bail revoked Monday after evidence surfaced that he was plotting an escape from jail.
Prosecutors originally sought to ban Ebron from making all phone calls, sending or receiving mail and receiving visitors in jail. But Aho indicated discomfort with that and instead focused on specific people.

The prime suspect in the disappearance of 21-month-old Lonzie Barton can have no contact with most of the witnesses in the case, a judge ordered Tuesday.
Outside of law enforcement personnel, there are seven witnesses so far in the toddler's disappearance. The only ones Ruben Ebron can speak to are his parents, and only with a lawyer present, Judge Marianne Aho decided Tuesday.
Police have said that they believe Ebron, who was the last person to see the toddler, murdered Lonzie, who was reported missing July 24. So far, Ebron has been charged only with two counts of child neglect, one count of lying to police and four charges related to an escape police say he planned.
All but one of Ebron's bonds were revoked.
