"Canadian-born actor Jim Carrey says he's "shocked and deeply saddened by the passing" of his on-again, off-again girlfriend after Los Angeles authorities confirmed that Cathriona White was found dead in her Los Angeles area home Monday.

White, a 30-year-old makeup artist originally from Ireland, was discovered unresponsive by a friend and pronounced dead at the scene Monday evening.

Pills were found next to the body along with a note that references Carrey, Los Angeles County assistant chief coroner Ed Winter told the Hollywood Reporter.

The coroner's office is holding off revealing a cause of death pending toxicology and other tests."
 
It is very difficult when someone struggles with severe depression it is a daily battle to continue to survive. More needs to be done globally to help people suffering with this deblitating condition that destroys lives both the sufferers own and their family and friends when the person harms themselves. R.I.P Cathriona thoughts and prayers to your family and friends.

Jim Carrey also has struggled with depression.
 
Jim Carrey has discussed his treatment for depression, including Prosac and psychotherapy.

Unfortunately, this young woman was a Scientologist. Scientologists do not believe in psychiatry and think all psychiatrists and psychologists are "Doctors of Death". The also do not approve of their members taking any kind of psychiatric medications.

So I would guess there are a lot of people with untreated depression and a host of other mental illnesses within the Scientology organizations.

Jim Carrey joined the family and other loved ones of girlfriend Cathriona White as she was laid to rest at a funeral in her hometown in Ireland on Saturday.

The memorial service took place in the Irish village of Cappawhite in County Tipperary. Carrey, 53, and about five other men, dressed in black suits, were seen exiting the Our Lady of Fatima Church and carrying her light wooden coffin as scores of mourners followed them up a street during the procession. The actor was seen breaking down in tears, The Irish Mirror reported. He did not speak but did share a moving photo and message on Twitter after the service...

This leaves a bad taste in my mouth. There are many media stories about this young woman's suicide and her relationship with Carrey and her husband. I feel for her, for her family, for Mr Carrey, but not so much for her legal husband at the time of her suicide.

I may be naive but if her boyfriend had given/supplied her illegal drugs, LE would have been all over that?
 
I am NOT trying to be insensitive here, but she was an adult, and it was still her choice to take the pills, even if they were his.
 
It sounds like to me that the husband just wants to embarrass Carrey and possibly get some money out of it. I don't know the man but I feel like he's a good person. He has his demons (depression) but I don't think he could live with himself if he had actually supplied her with the pills she used to commit suicide.
