Did you try the wayback machine?

https://web.archive.org

I don't have access to Facebook here at work.

I still can't believe that CN (through JR) is requesting more money. They spent what, $8,000 on a few weekend trips to Mexico and paid for a PI? And the PI is no closer to finding information than they were a month ago!

Anyway, someone earlier asked why she is listed here as *endangered American* - that's because initially JR said she was an American citizen, which we later found out was not true.

Thanks! I just tried wayback using your link. I've never used it before so I could be wrong, but it says the page has only been saved once, on June 14, today. Maybe someone else could try.

I just looked again at that picture of him having lunch with his "team" in Meixco and noticed how much JR looks like Josh Duggar. ugh.

Anyway, I just saw another picture of him EATING at a table with Corona people.

Why are these people smiling in the photos for? (Nice Louis Vuitton knockoff, lady). What does he say to them, let me take a group picture of you all sitting around the table for Jenny's Find Me Facebook page?!?!? The two ladies taking home "doggie bags" and it's such a big table, did some people not show up?

Good find but strange because the jenny Chen one accessed 3 years ago says Seattle, Washington.

Sorry! (apologizing for my oops in advance)
Old Lurker, New Poster

I cant can't take credit for finding the couchsurfing page. I think it was posted way back on the thread and I had it stashed somewhere. :) I wonder if she had two accounts and chose to use her Chinese account for some reason. She may have thought she'd be more interesting to potential hosts if she was from China.

This person would be a good spokesperson for JR. I wish they would have included the info of her parents going over.

Sorry! (apologizing for my oops in advance)
Old Lurker, New Poster

She would be a good spokesperson. Since she's on JR's page, including Jenny's parents probably would have been vetoed. She does ask for people to send her corrections, so I hope some brave soul does that! Any takers? :D

She may have made 3 couchsurfing accounts: https://www.google.com/search?q="jenny+chen"+seattle+site:couchsurfing.com&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
Only the one stating she is from China, rather than Seattle is the most complete in profile and has the most recent login of 2 mos. ago. The one LisaWL7TR found has the last login of 3 years ago, and the third one says a login of 3 mos. ago.

I wonder if it is possible she could be traveling around and using couchsurfing as her means of stay using alternate or false names for accounts? Is that doable?

I wonder if these are all Jenny's accounts. The age says 28 on both of the mystery accounts. Jenny is 26. One account opened in 2012 and the other in 2016. There are other Jenny Chens in Seattle including one who is 28.

BBM. I thought the SAME thing! How awkward. I guess maybe he did it to prove to the people donating that he is in fact in Mexico? I don't know why I even try to figure out his actions because I truly do not understand his whole approach to finding Jenny.

BTW I laughed out loud at the Louie Vuitton comment. Spoken like a true Jersey girl (I am one myself)

It sounds to me like JR is out of the loop. This matter is being handled between her Chinese family, the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, and the Mexican police, and none of them are talking to JR. JR is running his own little separate private investigation using donated funds, which is not making much progress. Honestly I hope that people stop donating to that fund. I think it’s a wast of money. I think JR is less then mentally competent to be running any investigation IMHO.

I know I am replying to this quote very late and I hope this doesn't throw a monkey wrench into conversation flow, but I found this comment so interesting. There's been something very strange about this "JR" driven case from day one. I realized from this comment that it does seem strange -JR seems like he's sort of "piggy-backing" onto a genuine investigation involving the parents and law enforcement. Also, if Jenny really is married to JR, why would LE be dealing with her parents. If I turned up missing one day, I can't imagine LE working with my parents -they'd be working with my husband. The only reason I can come up with is that she's a Chinese national, her parents are Chinese and he, apparently, doesn't speak Chinese. However, it still seems like he is "left out" of the actual investigation in a way he shouldn't be if they are, indeed, married. Any thoughts?

This case is complicated by Jenny being a Chinese citizen who lived in the States and disappeared from Mexico, her marriage being a bit unusual, and by her hubby's behavior reading to many of us as extremely off and abrasive. I keep trying to remind myself that there are a lot of socially awkward weirdos out there, and being a weirdo doesn't make someone a murderer. Sometimes people close to those who are missing have personalities that rub me the wrong way, which rings as "hinky" to me but turns out to be a coincidence.QUOTE)

MCSTAY CASE, anyone?

Agree. She may have recapped things a day later during her trip.

Plus in all honesty. Jenny may have just ran away. Maybe she hitchhiked back to the United States border via Texas or California and decided against the Cancun hubby meet up.

Also maybe she decided not to use her passport for Cuba and decided to go to New York. Idk.

But maybe hubby should spend money to have a specialist analyze her communications on her computers and phones that she had before the trip.

Maybe Jenny was communicatingwith others with a plan prior to her trip. Jmo.

Now as of now. I can't say that Jonathan is guilty of anything.

But if he was truly on a honest note. You think he would also post here and not just on a Facebook page where only the same 5 people say good luck or whatever.

He specifically said that he wanted the word out. Plus specifically gives updates on what he knows.

But still no update of how Jennys family had a productive talk with the Chinese Embassy.

Now they may think she is still hiking. And he may disagree and feel Corona driver is the best lead. Which could be understandable.

But he tells his 5 followers that its just him and his team that are the only ones looking and can use more money.

But his flock still may not know that Jennys family has boots on the ground as well.

Which is very odd even if he doesn't like the path they are taking. Jmo

Dexter, you have some of the most insightful comments here. I guess one question I have is this: I just happen to know about Websleuths, but no one I know, at least not my family does. They just aren't "connected" people in a social media way, or even as related to contemporary culture. I can't imagine that they would have any idea that such a site exists. Is it possible that he doesn't know about Websleuths? Should someone let him know? TIA for any help here.

I found the original post with the photo of the notebook. It was either temporarily taken down when I looked earlier or I'm blind! It no longer has the comment JR made the other day about it being the storekeeper's record and that Jenny just wrote her Chinese name according to witnesses. I looked through comments on many other posts to see if his comment was somewhere else, but I don't see it anywhere. I'm pretty sure it was a recent comment on the original post linked below because the post had jumped near the top of the page when I saw it, but now it's much further down. I think he deleted his comment. CN is a co-admin. I wonder if she deleted it. But why?

https://www.facebook.com/groups/helpfindjenny/permalink/614695842038797/

Maybe because originally, if I recall correctly, they said the note was found in the last place Jenny stayed. If it is a shop keeper's notes, and Jenny just wrote her name for him to see what it looked like, why would SHE have that paper? Wouldn't it have stayed with the shop keeper? Doesn't he need the rest of the note?

The note has caused a lot of questions to be asked, and a lot of questions to be deleted or glossed over, imho.

I agree, but food is a big part of Mexican culture. It’s probably necessary for him to have lunch with somebody, if he wants to get anything accomplished.

That said, I agree that the five grand sounds like a waste of money. He has said that the Mexican police are working on the case. Even if it is not as fast as he would like, the police are apparently making more progress then his PI is.

I agree with this to an extent. However, there is something odd about it, the "food" aspect of Mexican culture notwithstanding. I had the same reaction to the lunch photo (s)? I can't say I've ever read about of heard of a missing persons case, whatever the country/culture, where the searching/bereaved family/friends post photos of them having lunch with the "investigative team". It's just one more -BIG- oddity, in my book.

This is a piece of news posted by many Chinese websites.
Briefly translated:
Jenny Chan is still alive, according to Chinese embassy in Mexico.
In the end of May, Chan's parents arrived in Mexico and were assisted by Chinese officials in searching their daughter.
According to Mexican police, Jenny is still alive and hitch hiking in the southern area of Mexico.

(IMO, I could not find the source of the information, and highly doubt it. For those interested in Jenny's parents, it might serve as an answer)

Thank you, Lilibet. You are so observant. I didn't even notice they had the wrong ages.

In looking at the couchsurfing site, I guess it is possible to make fake accounts. On their faq page it said: (bolded by me) "What happens when I use the Report Abuse button?
Report Abuse should only be used to report abuse of the website or content-related abuse issues (such as profiles you believe to be fake, profiles sending dating spam, etc.)."
http://www.couchsurfing.com/about/faq/

If she is close to her family in China (didn't we hear she kept in touch with them daily), it is probably doubtful she would be putting them through something like this, cutting off all ties.

Welcome, Harry_B!

I posted the link earlier. It originated from the Chinese Embassy of Mexico site. http://mx.china-embassy.org/chn/lsfw1/t1371117.htm
However, JR has said: "The Oaxaca police put on quite a show for Jenny's parents." He called the information wild and silly rumors (see his comment under the news report). http://nwasianweekly.com/2016/06/hu...-of-seattle-was-last-seen-in-april-in-oaxaca/

This is what Jonathan just posted about the family trip on the help find jenny page in the comment section of the buzzfeed post.

Thank you (poster). Jenny's family traveled to Mexico 2 weeks ago and met with the Oaxaca police. Oaxaca police basically told them a bunch of Lies and wasted their time. It was good media propaganda for the police. The worst thing about it the Chinese media also used it as propaganda since they are government audited. Jenny's family believe that Jenny is traveling on no money and has not contacted anyone for the last two months, and is wondering the high deserts of Mexico. This story has more to do with praise of the government and the police then the true facts. The worst thing about it most of the Chinese overseas believe it. Let's talk about how you can help me with PR because I truly need it. thank you!

Well, this, his own comment has been deleted from the HFJ site. I saw an additional comment he had made but I did not save it, so I am paraphrasing here: He said that this has caused a "disconnect" between him and Jenny's parents.

Deleting these comments gives me the feeling that he must not be keeping her family in China apprised of his progress in the investigation. Since they believe the "bunch of lies" (JR's words) the police have told them, I guess he feels what's the point in involving them. JMO

I'm sure her family feels helpless and simply hope she shows back up someday soon. How heartbroken they must feel.

He may definitely be truly searching for his wife. But I honestly think that if his mother or sister or daughter just went missing in Mexico; He would probably be more proactive in the actual search. Jmo.

But I do hope Jenny is safe. And I'm sorry that Jonathan and her family has to go through this.

Jmo. But I think he should still try to look inside that last resident to see if any of her personal belongings may have been left behind. Jmo.

BBM

I believe the notebook was found where Jenny had stayed and I'm assuming the notebook belonged to the host (who may have been a shopkeeper??) and did not go with Jenny when she left. There are dates in May that couldn't have been written by Jenny. That being said, the unanswered questions, lack of precise information and deletions make it impossible to know anything for sure, so your guess is as good as mine. :) Honestly, that FB page is a perfect illustration of obfuscation IMO.

What JR keeps failing to mention is that Jenny's family also met with LE in the states of Chiapas and Tabasco, not just Oaxaca. We don't know what they learned from the other state police. It would be nice if JR could be sensitive to the fact that Jenny's parents are desperate to believe their daughter is alive somewhere, even if their theory isn't logical. A little respect for their feelings would go a long way. But instead he slams the police, the Chinese government, the Chinese people overseas and her parents in one short paragraph (since deleted AFAIK), while making sure to end with an unsubtle request for money. He really pushes my negative buttons. And I really want Jenny found. Sigh.
