Heard a news update in the car a little while ago.

The 10 year old just has a broken arm. Doing well.

The 16 year old was in critical condition, but downgraded to stable.

The 6 year old has a very serious head injury. Still very critical.

My prayers go out to all three victims. My youngest fell from a high bar two years ago and broke her arm, and suffered a traumatic brain injury that she still has residual effects from. She did not fall nearly as far as these girls did.

The thought of what they went through, and the long road of recovery they face (physically and psychologically) just breaks my heart.

As it should be. After the horrific death of Caleb on the world's tallest water slide, I truly believe there should be proper oversight and criminal negligence in cases like these. Sadly, it shouldn't take such tragedies involving injuries and death :moo:

Two of Three Girls Injured in Tenn. Ferris Wheel Accident Released From Hospital

Two of the three girls who were seriously injured when they fell three stories from a Ferris wheel at a Tennessee county fair were released from the hospital Thursday, the hospital and the fair said.

The girls — ages 6, 10 and 16 — tumbled from the ride's basket as it overturned at the Greene County Fair in Greeneville on Monday night.

The two older girls have been sent home, Niswonger Children's Hospital said, but the 6-year-old remained in critical condition.

"We continue to pray for the complete recovery of the youngest child, who still remains hospitalized," the Greene County Fair board said in a statement Thursday.

Report: Ferris wheel that dropped girls had worn out rivets

Inspectors hired by the company and the Greene County Fair found that rivets on the gondola carrying the girls had come loose.

That caused the bottom plate to drop down and catch on the frame of the Ferris wheel and tip the girls out.

The Ferris wheel, which inspectors say was correctly assembled at the site, is being sent back to the manufacturer.

Kayla suffered a broken arm and other minor injuries

Her little sister remains hospitalized for a traumatic brain injury

The name of the other girl, 16, who was in the basket with them has not been released

The third injured girl was admitted to hospital in critical condition but has improved to a stable condition

In their first interview following the incident, the Reynolds parents said they wanted someone held accountable for the incident

Safety inspectors have blamed a mechanical failure for the accident, which led one of the baskets to tip sideways

'We watched them tumble out, just one by one': Parents of girls who fell from Ferris wheel react

The parents of two girls who fell more than 30 feet from a Ferris wheel at an eastern Tennessee county fair say they tried to alert the operator that something was wrong, but the ride was moved ahead despite their shouts.

During a hospital news conference in Johnson City on Tuesday, parents Jason and Kimmee Reynolds described their anguish at seeing their daughters and a third girl topple out of their carriage and fall to the ground.

"When he was pushing go, we took off running and were yelling `Stop, stop, stop!"' Kimmee Reynolds said. "And he just looked at us and he pushed the button anyway, and so we watched them tumble out, just one by one."

Inspectors have blamed the overturned carriage on worn-out rivet fasteners that allowed the facing to become loose and get lodged in the frame of the wheel.

Ten-year-old Kayla broke her arm in the fall at the Greene County Fair. Her 6-year-old sister Briley was knocked unconscious, and her parents feared she had died. Briley was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but was upgraded to stable condition on Tuesday.

An unidentified 16-year-old girl was also injured in the fall.

Jason Reynolds said he could tell before the fall that his daughters knew something was amiss.

"We could see their faces from the ground, and you could tell they were terrified, they knew something bad was going to happen," he said. "You could just see (Kayla) trying to grab for something to hold on to. It was horrible."

Maybe it seemed to some onlookers they were rocking it because they were scared and freaking out. Maybe it was because it was starting to fall apart. Maybe people just say things that aren't true.
But once again it seems like innocent people are let down by people that are interested only in taking money and not having any kind of duty of care to their customers and fellow humans.
