Itsapuzzle the aunt came over from NZ to live in Australia years ago and lives in another State to Karen.

Yes Pepper she could still be alive as could Elvis and Tupac as some people today even think they could still be alive.

A little off topic - currently reading a book "The Anatomy Of Motive" The FBI's legendary mind hunter explores the key to understanding and catching murderers. Quite an interesting read regarding information that is disclosed to the general public/media in an attempt to tease/trap a perpetrator. The author is a profiler who can just about define the car a person was driving.

I thought the same but apparently if the float indicator in the fuel tank is stuck driving over bumps can unstick it. I read this on a few internet forums.
I still doubt the credibility of this faulty fuel gauge being the reason BR took the car out that day.... I am sure there are plenty of speed bumps close to home he could have used instead.

I referred this same scenario to a number of our Engineers at work and they also confirmed same....the problem could be rectified.

Maybe the gauge was faulty prior to when Karen went missing and it was
repaired when going over a bump then. Maybe it was never faulty, the person who owns the car cant confirm either senarios unfortunately.
A 2 hour trip to fix a gauge and the only place you went to fix it was a bump in the road seens rather bizarre.
Something may have got bumped but a fuel gauge???

Thanks Steve for that info. So, not being too far away maybe she"ll be making a few more trips down to Melbourne ........ she struck me as being someone who could get to the bottom of things and wouldn't take any nonsense - more power to her. On your message to Pepper, i had to look up who Tupac was, hee hee never heard of him before! 😊

I don't want to bang on about pumps too much , but I asked the mechanic my son uses for his 1978 benz.... 2004 series are entirely electric. No float . No way to jolt the thing . That was a good old trick when floats were used. This guy lives and breaths Mercedes... I'm only taking his word for it , but he's a Mercedes mechanic.
It's an on going saga with my sons car .... so I'm off to another today . I shall ask again . Second opinion etc
2004 models , kompressor E and S series were pretty much totally computer and electronic reliant .

He also said that the only way to fix was to rip it out and put a new one in ... part starts at $390 not including labour

No she has gone to the Dark Side she lost her kiwi accent for an aussie one. She has lived in aussie for maybe 30 plus years.

You are gold to us all Steve many thanks. We are here to help find Karen for you. Your strong aunt sounds like someone every family unit needs.

I didn't detect a kiwi accent.
I've been a court transcript typist for 30 years and the one thing I've heard ad nauseam is the judges directions to juries about making inferences ..... so what did I do, err, 😮 made an inference, wrongly, that aunt had flown from New Zealand because KR came from there. No real accent there too, that's right.

Really Steve? :notgood:

Ediethedog your son as he should be as a mechanic is correct in his thoughts re the fuel gauge been computer reliant.
The problem re faulty fuel gauge is a common problem with Karen's make and year of her car and there was a recall issued by Mercedes to fix the problem. The model needed a software calibration number to be recoded to reset the system.
The problem couldn't be resolved by going over a bump.
Maybe the car in the past had a faulty gauge and was repaired. If I suddenly had to come up with up a plausible excuse for
taking the wife's car out on the day she went missing I know it's a reason to say "trying to fix faulty gauge". Only trouble is that my basic mechanic and electrical knowledge
had me believe that a simple bump could correct the problem when in fact it couldn't.
Hopefully Karen's garage could confirm from car warrants if there was a problem with the gauge previously and if it was fixed.

Recall notice:
2004 MERCEDES CL CLASS
Manufactured between: 05/01/2004 and 05/31/2004
Defect: mercedes-benz is recalling my 2006-2008 m-class, r-class, my 2005-2009 slk-class, my 2005-2008 c-class, my 2003-2004 and 2006-2008 clk-class, my 2003-2008 e-class, my 2004 and 2008 cl-class, my 2008 cls-class, my 2004 and 2007-2008 s-class, my 2003 g-class, and my 2003-2004, 2006 and 2009 sl-class vehicles. a software calibration number (scn) coding received on the affected vehicles during a recent workshop visit was incorrect. depending on the model year and model affected, the results of an incorrect scn coding can affect a number of vehicle safety and emission functions including the following types of functions: (1) the fuel gauge readings may be incorrect; (2) a stuck fuel-level sensor may not be displayed in the instrument cluster; (3) the obd system may cause the check engine light to illuminate incorrectly; and, (4) the speedometer may be out of tolerance.
Consequence: in the event of a vehicle crash, the electrical fuel pump may not receive a crash signal that is required for the fuel pump to disconnect and prevent future fuel delivery as designed.
Action: dealers will recode the scn free of charge. the recall began on august 30, 2008. owners may contact mercedes-benz at 1-800-367-6372.
Recall Date: 07/07/2008

Thanks Steve Richardson and Edie for the faulty fuel gauge info.
I suppose BR might have been put on the spot when asked by police how he could explain his phone pings on the Calder and the fuel gauge story was the first thing that sprung to mind.
It seems that his belief that he fixed it by going over a bump is technically incorrect......it doesn't do much for the credibility of his story.

Just watched the Jon benet Ramsey episode tonight and had me thinking about how the parents IMO where covering up for their sons accident so they didn't loose him as well.
Those lines which stated " Courage to come forward" in Karen's case.
So possible scenario
BR and KR had a heated discussion about something, BR strikes KR and unintentionally kills her. Might have happened the night prior when all 3 family members were present . There's always more time and steam to let out at night after a long hard day, rather than early morning where youre rushing to get ready to go to work (minimal time to talk about stuff)
SR may have witnessed it and knows it was accidental and is scared to loose her father as well.
She covers up for her father and isn't assisting police.

  • 'moreinfo' after reading your post I am thinking you could be right on then mark.

July 3rd Sarah makes an emotional plea through media for public help to find her mother.
July 14th Sarah, age 21, broke down during a press conference right after Ms Ristevski’s disappearance.“I just want my mum to come home,”
Initial emotional pleas to find your mother & now not talking to police just doesn't add up.

Have a look at Sarah's photo when BR was asked "did you kill your wife". http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=14mfjs&s=9#.V-G5xD-SxkI
Boris looks like he is seething understandable if he didn't and also if he did so hard to read there but Sarah looks afraid like she knows BR could lose the plot and with her hand firmly in his stomach is trying to push him away.

Sarah said her mum went ballistic which I am guessing no family or friends have seen her like that as not her manner. Worst word I ever heard Karen's
mum use was bugger & guessing Karen the same. Sarah said Karen went ballistic in an argument the night before when the family were discussing how
to improve store figures. Sarah & BR wanted the store to have a sale which Karen didn't want to do, so even though Sarah and Karen were close she sided
with BR over the store figures which was obviously enough as Sarah describes to make Karen go ballistic.
Ballistic is defined as someone 'to become enraged or frenziedly violent', not exactly as how many or any would have seen Karen behave in the past.

Sarah said she first heard about Karen missing when she got home at about 7pm that day yet supposeably they spoke many times per day (Karen's cousin said
“Sarah and her mum are extremely close, they spoke many times per day. They are best friends.”).
Sarah knew her mother was in a bad mood the night before with both her and BR due to discussion over the store. She must have attempted to phone her mum the
next day either to apologise to get some peace back or just to talk (as she did always many times per day).
If something happened to Karen the night prior to her missing eg KR went ballistic and BR lost the plot she obviously knows something we don't.
The police will no doubt have tracked all phone records and an easy pattern to give some belief to the above is:
    1. Did Sarah phone her mother at any stage on June 29th which she always did many times per day. If she didn't she knew there was no point.
    2. How many times did she phone BR on the 29th and was the call or number of calls made consistent with previous times. If something happened the night prior
she would be ringing often checking up on the situation.
    3. Sarah said the first time she knew her mother was missing was 7:00pm when she arrived home so that says to me she he didn't speak to BR
at any time prior to getting home as if she did why would he not say prior to that time I haven't seen your mum since this morning. If Sarh
and BR communicated any time after noon she is lying saying 7:00pm was the first time she knew Karen was missing.
    4. One person phones their mother many times during the day and doesn't make contact as phone is off or they didn't indeed phone. One person doesn't
phone the daughter to say that their mother and wife is missing yet he can walk the neighbourhood asking for any CCTV coverage of her. No time
in the media was it mentioned they made contact with each other prior to 7:00pm.
    5. Did BR keep ringing the store to see if Karen had turned up or ask the store to phone him if she did. Why have your phone off in case she rings
when you are trolling the neighbourhood looking for CCTV or taking the car for a scenic drive (if that was the time phone off).
    6. If Sarah couldn't get hold of her mum on the phone why didn't she ring the store to see if she was there.
    7. The first thing Sarah should have said when she walked in the door "I haven't heard from mum all day".

100% the police know more than we do and they have access to phone records so if the above is close to the truth the mention by them hoping someone
can find the courage to come forward is only directed at one person for a reason eg phone records tell a different story.

I think sure Karen may have gone ballistic & BR has also done the same lost the plot and the rest is unfortunately what most suspect.

Day 5 immotional plea to police, media and friends to find my mother to complete not talking to police or media doesn't add up. You either want to find
her or you don't want someone found out.

It would be interesting to know the time frame as to when BR's mobile was turned off and when he was asking neighbours if that had CCTV recordings that morning. If your that concerned that your wife has gone missing you wouldn't have your phone turned off in case she called. If its the two hours that you were driving your car on the motorway that you forgot to mention in your first interview there is a big red light getting turned on and if that's the case which I am certain it is it's no wonder the police are not looking for any other suspects.

Thank you once again Steve for a thoughtful post. Do you mind if i ask how you know Sarah didn't know mum was missing until 7pm? You said she said that but what was said to whom? Just want to clarify as that's an important piece of information.

i sure i read it somewhere online but there is that much hard to go back and find it all.

BR went to neighbours asking if they had any CCTV coverage reason wife missing. You know your daughter speaks to your wife many times during the day so before you go out asking neighbours for CCTV
you obviously ring SR "have you heard from your mother?" before asking neighbours "has your CCTV seen my wife?". If you put the question to 100 people if your wife has gone missing what would
you do first:
1. Ring your daughter to see if she has heard from her as they speak many times during the day.
2 .Go to neighbours asking if any CCTV coverage.

I know what I would do as would most I am sure.

Your posts make logical sense (once again). I havent heard that Sarah didn't know till 7pm before so i too will try and confirm or refute that...bit tricky as not at my computer for a few days. Can anyone else confirm a source.

That comment is on SM and is unverifiable. And everyone there wants to know where it comes from, too.

Just sayin' ..... because I think we need to be careful what verifiable info we have and what unsubstantiated info (possibly rumour) that we have.
So they ask us to provide links.

I believe it was in a comment under a post somewhere on the Where Is Karen Ristevski page.
