"Papa Joe may be the last person to see her, early in the morning on Sunday, Nov. 19th. He says he saw Kim get into a car. "I literally threw her out of here after I fed her and opened the car door. And she said hi to the guy, whatever. And he said hello. And then, they left," he recalls.

Sources tell 48 Hours that Raffo went with a john to the Taj Mahal, but then left him around 5:00 a.m. to score drugs."

Sounds like Papa Joe actually heard the guy's voice. I'm sure all this info was reported to investigators.

I had to go back to page 5 and read about Denise Hill and this client Eldridge of hers, and the PA license plate. The links don't work but luckily some of the article is posted in the body of the post.

Things I found interesting after some of our recent lines of thinking:
Eldridge is a unique first name, most likely a surname, of course the hotel could find no record of him registered, so he used a fake name to register?
He just wanted company in a room off of the BHP and told her he did terrible things in the past, wow, sounds like he's fighting demons in his head. What happens when the demons win some of the battles!

I hope LE followed that lead as far as they could! A partial plate number is simple enough for them to find a list of owners that match.

"Pamela Covelli, 33, said she was with Kim Raffo, one of the murdered women, when they met a "strange" client the night of Nov. 17. That was three days before the bodies of the four women were discovered.

Covelli said she has since identified the man from photos shown to her by Atlantic County investigators. She described him as white, about 6 feet tall, with greasy dark hair and a beard.

Covelli said the man told her his name was "Bill." Investigators have since told her that the man's name is "John" and that he once lived in Egg Harbor City. She said she was not told his last name.

Covelli said authorities told her they have been unable to locate the man."

....
""He was mean," Covelli said during a phone interview from the Atlantic County Jail, where she is awaiting a hearing on a probation violation charge. "He said he hated women. He said he had done 15 years for murder."

Covelli said she and Raffo met the man in a room at the Flamingo Motel on Pacific Avenue. She said the man had cocaine, money and an attitude. He belittled the women, Covelli said, calling them "*advertiser censored*."

Covelli said she went to the motel room assuming it was for a "date" - a street term that describes sex-for-money.

"It was crazy," she said. "He was giving girls drugs. He said he wanted us to take our clothes off, but he said he wouldn't have sex."

Covelli said the situation "didn't seem right" and she left.

Raffo stayed.

"That was the last night I saw Kim," she said.

Covelli said she has met four times with investigators from the county Prosecutor's Office. One interview occurred in the county jail. On three other occasions, she said, investigators took her from the jail and drove her around Atlantic City while she pointed out the motel room where she met the man and other locations where, she said, other women had encountered him."

"Attorney James Leonard Jr. said he had taped a man confessing to the killings of four prostitutes whose bodies were found dumped in an Egg Harbor Township drainage ditch.

"I'm not saying he's the killer," Leonard said. "But it casts doubt that (Leonard's client) Terry Oleson is."

In a jailhouse interview last month, Schlue said he never confessed.

"I'm denying I ever said anything about killing them," he said. "I don't even know how those girls died."

Schlue first gained attention after jailed prostitute Pam Covelli said she partied with him and three of the slain women shortly before they disappeared. When the party turned violent, Covelli left, she said"

"Last month, Bill Schlue was looking to start over.

He had just gotten out of jail, was getting off drugs and planned to marry his girlfriend after a move to Florida.

Then, four prostitutes were found dead in Egg Harbor Township, and, Schlue says, his life was thrown into disarray.

His girlfriend broke their engagement. His son stopped talking to him. His brother hangs up when he calls.

Schlue, 44, says it's because his friends and family are being harassed by investigators. They also believe he is the auburn-haired man prostitute Pam Covelli described as the possible killer during a jailhouse interview with The Press of Atlantic City.

"I know I didn't kill nobody and didn't hurt nobody," Schlue said Friday. "

Dow: Pursuing the theory that the killer knew the streets, police took an interest in an ex-con named bill schlue.
00:30:08Tell me what kind of parties schlue would have.
00:30:11Wild parties, man. wild parties, man.
00:30:13Dante, the street hustler, and his buddy smiley say they hooked schlue up with drugs and hookers -- among others, kim raffo and tracy roberts.
00:30:24So, he would have these binges with these women for days?
00:30:28Days, man.
00:30:28He spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, guy.
00:30:30Dante: You're sayin.parties.
00:30:32It was one party that never stopped.

Bill Schlue:
I believe investigators questioned him early on, had him submit DNA and then checked him into a psychiatric facility. Never arrested for the crimes. Turns out investigators may have been trying to do the right thing by him as I believe he committed suicide.

Pam Covelli:
I think she's the one who said she saw Kim Raffo and Barbara Breidor dead together in a bed. Trouble with that story is they were killed about a month apart from each other. I think her story is what the end of that Dark Minds episode was all about. Anyone is free to go down the Covelli route but I'd recommend you bring a bottle of Excedrin Extra-Strength cause you're gonna need it.

' After the hearing, a prostitute from Atlantic City said she recognized Mr. Oleson from a tryst in November in which he confessed to being a murderer.

The woman, Denise Hill, 44, said that she met Mr. Oleson around the time the victim’s bodies were discovered and that he told her he had “killed some people.”

But Mr. Leonard said that Mr. Oleson had never kept company with prostitutes and called Ms. Hill, who has admitted to smoking crack and appeared in a 2004 HBO documentary about Atlantic City prostitutes, “the definition of reasonable doubt.” '

So who is it Ms. Hill? Oleson or the River Man that you were with who said they had killed some people. Maybe it was a manang a trios that caused the confusion.

Yeah, her hearts probably in the right place but it might be that her recollection of events might be a bit fuzzy.

Don't know if he's still around but I'm sure his place was the first investigators looked at after the Golden Key. Can't imagine they'd let that tidbit about the Maxima slip past them.

Cynical, I keep thinking about your comment about Kim not having her jacket on when she was found. Temp seems to be 59 degrees at that time and day before 64-74 degrees. So maybe leaving jacket is an important point...as reassurance that she would be right back and also that buying drugs was very close indeed (just running real quick)

So, what would have gone wrong on her mission (that was probably a familiar run)? Not sure where she would have gone (would she have stayed inside building...did she already have someone she met in casino or restaurants? Was 5am an important time that someone arrived there?) or did she leave by an exit and which one would that have been? Would someone have been readily available right outside doors?

So, if it was a familiar run....what distracted her? What would make her go with someone? She was looking for drugs...not money so how did someone encourage her to go with them when she was on a quick mission?

Any ideas?

If she needed a ride why would that be? Looked cold and in hurry, someone she knew took her? No luck buying close to casino? Offer of better, cheaper down the road? Or "come on,get in ,get high while I drive you where you need to go"....loses focus because she has what she has been seeking.

All good questions. She had money from the doctor so I see her making a beeline to the first place she knew she could find crack. Earlier a few of us speculated about the surveillance cameras installed at the Taj Mahal and how they were used to clear the doctor. The same cameras should have picked up a car if one was waiting for her outside the entrance.

Another possibility is she cut through the Taj casino floor to an overpass that led to Resorts casino. From there she could exit Resorts and be a short distance from Ocean Ave. which might the quickest and most familiar place for her to get drugs.

I've focused primarily on the second option and speculated that if she made it back to her place on Ocean or Tennessee then someone HAD to have seen her. She was living with Charles Coles at the time but he's never stated that he saw her on the last night. I'm not pointing a finger at him because he genuinely might not have seen her.

Which brings up the possibility that she was intercepted along the way. That someone would have had to have known her for her to get in a car with I would think.

One last possibility is that she coped a ride with someone that she knew at the Taj. Before she fell off the deep end she worked at the Taj. “Kim and Kenny (Bilecki), a trained chef, both held steady jobs at a restaurant in the Taj Mahal casino."
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/beyond-the-boardwalk/2/

That last scenario hasn't been discussed yet.

Yes, I saw she had worked at the Taj in earlier years...also how she met Jon Pesce (I may not recall his name correctly...her bartender friend).

But if she scored in the Taj then she would have been back up to the room. Then again if she was given a sizeable amount of money, she may have stayed somewhere for a bit (spending it) before she returned....like you had said, a crackhouse.

So she would have had to venture outside to disappear. Her boyfriend was in jail (maybe he was around her more when he was out) and someone may have known she was more alone?

I earlier posted an article where Popa Joe evicted Charles Coles about 2 weeks after the bodies were discovered. The reasons he gave for the eviction were lack of payments but also that crowds frequently gathered at his room. I'm thinking that's were she was headed. If she'd made it someone had to have seen her. She needed a dealer to sell it to her and a place to smoke it.

Having her last john in the Taj waiting on her return Kim is probably carrying not only the money for the last several hours but likely extra for some drugs. She potentially has several hours of payed time lined up with the doc that day and I think that is what she would have done if not for what happened. That is an odd time of day to go missing. I can see where that strip could be ruled by fear and cant shake the thought that some might not be coming forward or even covering for someone who they know did it out of fear for their very life. Kim could have known about the previous victim. Tracy could have had dirt on someone for Barbara's murder and so on.

True enough. Although I can't help escape the ritualistic manner in which these killings were conducted. The earlier killings where three women had their throats slashed appeared to be more street related. These appear to be almost surgical. - Just my opinion.

Because she had money...is there any chance she may have taken a cab instead of walking?

Just something curious...there is a shoe store (Shoe Stop) on the Boardwalk between S Ocean and S Carolina. Wonder if girls were ever seen and stalked from there?

Molly Dilts witnessed an attempted murder in North Philly in mid-summer 2006. I've often thought about the possibility of her being silenced because of that. But that doesn't explain the other three. Nor the serial killer 101 method employed here. - Just my opinion.
