I said that I suspect that she thought she was being followed. And she may well have been, by the police car that pulled her over. It appears she turned left onto W 26 and pulled a u-turn. That would be what one might do if they thought they were being followed.
A few minutes later she pulled her tracking device...
I agree. It's off. Most people would say I have to get gas. I think the exact gas station mention was deliberately stated. A red herring. JMOI just deleted my comment a few posts back, as Pete did say Toni was adamant about going to a gas station. I didn't realize there was a video in the report. It just looks like a picture in my browser...
Anyway, Pete can be seen saying, "She had left work at 4:11 and she was adamant about going to a gas station."
According to the reporter, Pete cited Toni's boss as the source of this information. The reporter says, "Pete says that Toni's boss told him that after she left work, Toni was driving to this gas station at 31st and Southwest Boulevard."
So, okay, that sounds credible. You have to wonder, though, how and why she told her boss she was going to a particular QuikTrip, one that wasn't the closest QuikTrip. I mean, how did that conversation go?
"See ya Toni. Heading home?"
"Nah, I'm headed to the QuikTrip at 31st and Boulevard."
Something doesn't seem quite right here.

You can't do a U-turn at that intersection. Its illegal... You would have to take a left on 26, then pull a u-turn, then turn right back onto Burlington. I did this all the time when I wanted to access the Commerce Bank ATM on Burlington. You can't access it by the other side of Burlington so you have to do a 'modified' U-turn by taking a left, turning around, and taking a right. It was so annoying, but that ATM was very convenient and was available 24/7.
Who did Toni bank with again?
I'll have to look into this ATM thing later. No time at the moment. But that's what I was saying... she turned left from Burlington onto W 26, drove a little ways, and then pulled a u-turn. The narrator for the surveillance video says the cop pulled a u-turn to get in behind her. How could he have seen her unless he followed her that way?
But she clearly tried to use her atm card at the QuikTrip, not wherever you're saying...
O but she wanted to. The QuikTrip ATM is a private ATM that charges a surcharge on top of whatever the bank pays. If you were a commerce bank customer, you would want to use the commerce bank ATM, which does not charge anything if you are a commerce bank customer. She was probably scared of the cop and just wanted to get out of there. She went ahead and tried that ATM, but it failed for whatever reason, possibly for too large of withdrawal. I've used that ATM there before and I don't recall an option to look at your bank balance for free like a commerce ATM would provide. At that point, her options are to go to the ATM across the street or to the next closest one (Parkville). Since the one across the street is visible from QT and given that she just wanted to get away from the cop, she headed to Parkville.
Well that's just what I was alluding to. It seems highly unlikely that she told her boss "I'm headed to the QuikTrip at 31st and Southwest Boulevard." It is more likely he (the boss or P) is distorting the truth in some way. It's close to the truth, but it's not what she said.
But isn't it just a small fee? Who's going to drive miles to avoid a small fee?
Is it true the Police Officer that pulled her over did escort her into the QT and that he stayed and watched her pump gas and leave? That sounds very unusual, why would he do that? Did she tell him she thought someone was following her? Did he suspect her of something other than a wrong lane change? Did he relay a message to her?
Why would a traffic stop last "literally a minute"?? (according to Snapp)
It takes a while to run plates, talk to the driver, issue a warning, etc...
So he talks to her for a millisecond, allows her to go get gas and then what? nothing?
Never finished the original traffic stop?
all weird
Its the ATM surcharge + what the bank charges you. It can add up to 5-6 bucks. She is a 20 year old girl. She isn't rich. I have done the same thing several times myself.
I'm trying to think of some famous no body guilty verdicts. Charli Scott in Hawaii comes to mind. They only found her jaw bone but that's still some part of the body.
