Ramada Inn on Fulton Avenue was under surveillance (re stolen vehicles). 2 people got in a car, chase ensued, two women taken into custodyn Elk Grove.
Then LE was going to do a search of the room these people had left "suspect from inside the room opened fire through the door — wounding two CHP investigators."

At back of hotel they encountered gunman with (allegedly) a high-powered rifle. Gunfire,
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy was hurt.

Gunman was chased down Fulton and El Camino Avenues before crashing near Watt

More gunfire, suspect shot, and taken into custody.' All injured are at hospital; conditions unknown

Evacuations are not in place in the Arden Arcade area, authorities say. People are being told to shelter in place for now.
Authorities are now saying that a total of three law enforcement officers were shot near Fulton Avenue and Auburn Boulevard.
One sheriff’s deputy and two CHP officers were shot, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department confirms.
All have been transported to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at the moment.
 
One officer died, the other two are expected to recover. Live video say the link still.

3:55 p.m.
Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones has said a deputy has died as a result of the shooting.

Robert “Bob” French, a 21-year veteran, died on his way to the hospital after being shot in the chest. French was a training officer.
He is survived by his live-in girlfriend, adult children and his grandchildren.


3:05 p.m.
Authorities are saying there could be two other suspects still inside the Ramada Inn where officers were shot at.

California deputy killed at hotel, guests urged to shelter in place amid search for suspects

Deputy Robert French, 52, was killed in the shooting at a Ramada Inn at around noon local time, Sacramento County Sheriff Scott Jones said. He added that the two CHP officers were expected to survive.

Jones described French as a "well-respected" 21-year veteran of the department. The sheriff added that French is survived by his children, grandchildren and girlfriend.
