A 57-year-old Vancouver woman was stabbed to death amid a botched home invasion of her apartment in a Belize retirement community, according to police from the Central American country.
Patricia Lynn Nichiporowich, a snowbird who had operated an environmental services company in Vancouver, was stabbed to death inside her second-storey unit Tuesday night in the wealthy Consejo Shores area of the Corozal District, according to Corozal police's Assistant Supt. Daniel Arzu.
"Upon the police entering the building, they saw this Caucasian lady lying face down on the floor in the living room in what appeared to be a pool of blood, with several multiple stab wounds to her neck and body," Arzu said in a telephone interview Thursday.
Arzu said investigators believe the motive was robbery, but nothing appeared to have been taken from the home.
"There certainly was a home invasion."
He said the home hadn't been ransacked.
