Because gangs do travel, and committing a crime like that in their own community would be dumb. Do you really think they are going to kidnap and hold a woman for three weeks, and worry about a two hour drive and $10 of gas?

Sincewhen
do gangs worry about committing crimes in their own neighborhood? That's exactly what they do. And that's also why there are neighborhoods with gang problems that people know to stay out of.

That map is centered on LA, not Redding. Even if I scroll the map up, none of those gangs appear to be anywhere near Redding. Am I missing something?

.
It's for the entire state of California. There's 1,212 listed on there. Also, OP mentioned that gangs shouldn't mind traveling for initiations. So, I was looking at spots around the state. Sacramento is not that far from Yolo.

This!!!! Makes alot of sense in regards to her phone and earbuds being placed neatly on the ground. It makes sense too that she may have got up and approached a car that stopped to see if they could assist her. I think KP said, "It made sense SP approached a car when it stopped with two hispanic women asking for directions".. Is that what SP told KP (?) That she had approached a car? I'm sure I read it in one of the many articles. MOO

Or, maybe someone else put her phone there. I'd like to see the forensic data on the found phone. Just to make sure it's the one she used daily. Ya know?

:fence:

Dear Websleuths Members,

There comes a time when a case slows down to pretty much a complete stop as far as discussing the case information.

Sherri Papini's thread will be closed until something newsworthy happens.

In the meantime, we have so many cases that desperately need your help.

Our COLD CASE forums could really use more members posting.

You don't need to be a sleuth to help out in the cold cases. Pick a cold case and write a message of support to the loved ones. You will truly help give a boost to the loved ones who think everyone has forgotten their cold case. You can show them Websleuths hasn't forgotten.

The exact same thing can be said for our Missing but not Forgotten forums.

If these forums don't interest you then just look around my friend and I know something will catch your eye.

With over 263 THOUSAND thread topics I know you can find somewhere to spend your time.

Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,
Tricia

Officials did find DNA from two people on Papini, Jackson said — a man and a woman. Jackson said the woman's DNA came from Papini's body, while the man's came from her clothes.

She was branded on her right shoulder and "appeared battered and bruised," but Jackson said there is no evidence to indicate Papini was sexually assaulted, and she said she was not. He she her bruises indicated Papini "had been physically assaulted multiple times over a period of time."
As for the brand, Jackson said the message is still unclear because of "obscure letters."

"The quality of the brand is poor," Jackson said.

Jackson also said Papini's hair was cut to shoulder-length. Officials initially said her hair was cut, but did not reveal to what length.

Papini said that right before she was released, the two captors were arguing and then she heard a gunshot, Jackson said. The younger of the women then escorted Papini out of a room and dumped her on the side of the road, Jackson said Papini told investigators.

So the sketches are two women, and the DNA is from a man and woman, right? Any chance there is another phone that hasn't been located? LE says she was communicating with a man from Michigan, but, they went to his home, and he is not involved. Could she have communicated with another man?

Something is still "off". For me. IMO.

Holyschmoly...you read my mind. I just read that article.
Only inconsistency is that the brand was the initials of the group leader. Bosenko said thst Sherri’s was meant to send a message. Initials wouldn’t send much of a message.

Also, that group doesn't put its brand on the shoulder.
