TEMECULA (NEWS 8) - The National City Police Department is investigating the discovery of a body Thursday in a remote wooded area off Pala Road in Temecula.
Investigators are following leads related to a missing person investigation, according to NCPD. The identity of the body is being withheld pending an autopsy by the County Medical Examiner's Office.

“We had leads that she frequented casinos,” National City police Lt. Graham Young said Friday.
He said detectives visited every casino in San Diego County, looking at security video for her or her car. “We’re tracking down every lead possible,” he said.
A driver on a dirt road in a wooded area near Pala and Pala Temecula roads saw a body under a blanket and notified authorities, Young said.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the woman's body and the cause of death. Young said the body was clothed and partly decomposed.

The body of Alexandria Nicole Smith was found in a remote wooden area about noon on Thursday. National City police detectives got leads in the missing person case that led them to the location just off Pala Road in Temecula, police Lt. Graham Young said.
Graham said the cause of death remains under investigation, and homicide is suspected.
He added that there are several people of interest in the case, but no arrests have been made.

A detective who was searching for Alexandria Nicole Smith found her corpse partly covered by a blanket off a dirt road near the Pala Casino Resort and Spa on Oct 12. The Medical Examiners Office determined the 30-year-old died of asphyxiation, a National City investigator said at the time.
On Wednesday, two men and three women were arrested in the killing. All five were booked into jail on suspicion of first degree murder, among other charges.
The suspects were identified as: Pablo Valadez, 35, Crystal Melendez, 33; Amber Suarez, 37; Jonnie Isaguirre, 22; and Maria Pereira, 26.
Melendez, Suarez and Pereira were arrested in San Diego. Valadez was in Chula Vista and Isaguirre was in Vista when they were taken into custody.
