A fourth person may be charged with tampering with Valerie Leblanc's body

1310News Staff Sep 21, 2011 09:54:59 AM

Gatineau police have submitted a file to the crown in the Valerie Leblanc body tampering case.

A fourth person alleged to have been involved with the tampering of her body after she had been killed.

Four? And none of them thought of running immediately to inform school authorities to call LE? What is going on with these teenagers? Were they "high" on something? :maddening:

I wonder just what was going on there,I can almost imagine them thinking that they were acting out some crazy scene from a teen t.v.horror show.....

"Gatineau police spokesman Pierre Lanthier said it took police three weeks to hand over the file because they received new information after making the announcement.

"It's not each day you see a file like that," he said. "They want to make sure they have all the details."

Lanthier would not disclose the nature of the new information."

I wonder what is going on, there has been no news and still no composite sketch after days of saying one was forthcoming.

:( Body of teen found near Hawkesbury identified
1310News staff Sep 26, 2011 09:55:27 AM
The family and friends of 18-year-old Jessica Godin remain shocked and in disbelief after her body was found in a ditch over the weekend.

Investigators said Godin's body was discovered in the tiny town of Fournier, which is just east of Ottawa.

Her body had apparent signs of trauma.

OPP have not yet called this this a murder.

An autopsy is slated for Monday here in Ottawa.

The Facebook page of Godin indicated her body was found wrapped in a garbage bag.

However, when asked by the Ottawa Citizen, police would neither confirm nor deny.

(Should we make another thread for Jessica? Why isn't LE calling this a murder from the get go?)

ETA: I just opened a thread for Jessica:

Still no news or composite? Let's hope that is because LE know who it is and are about to pounce.

Police target Gatineau Park nudists
Public nudity / 'People can go elsewhere or risk criminal charges' officer says
Neil McKinnon / Ottawa / Tuesday, September 27, 2011

MRC des Collines regional police have said they will no longer allow nudity in an area of Gatineau Park that has been frequented by naturists for decades.

Following the arrest of five men on Sept 21, police released a statement noting they had received several complaints about naturists near Trail 36 at Meech Lake.
.......
"In 2012, nudity in Gatineau Park will not be tolerated. Anyone caught in the nude in the park will be arrested and charged," Fournel says, adding that one of the men was arrested because he was hiking on a trail wearing only a backpack and running shoes.
.......
Fournel says that although the cases are unrelated, police became concerned following the murder of 18-year-old Valérie Leblanc, whose battered and burned body was found in the woods behind a Gatineau college on Aug 23.

"Gatineau Park is for everyone, including families, children. It's a problem when 90 percent of the nudity complaints we get are about men. We have people walking around and masturbating in front of people. We take this serious because some women were harassed, and we're not going to wait for something else to happen," he says.

According to this new article, LE is not sure if a composite sketch will be released. The "witness" they identified as a POI is not a "suspect."
He was seen at the scene, and Gatineau LE wants to talk to him. (could someone please confirm if I got it right? Thanks)

Toujours aucune arrestation

Thanks Hazel, I thought it was familiar,(it popped up as "new" on my search engine),just trying to find something new and yet it is sooo quiet- probably best for the students starting the new year at the school to not dwell on it, but the parents must be worried too..

The students should be reminded to keep their eyes (and ears) open, and be on the alert. If this was a random attack, who is to tell it wont happen again :(

Five weeks after their little ball of energy and joy for life parted without saying goodbye, the mother of Valerie Leblanc, Julie Charron, and his sister Naomi put aside their pain and present a generous gesture.

They spend the entire weekend at the Promenades de l'Outaouais, facing Christmas in boxes to sell lollipops and candy (no nuts or peanuts) for $ 1 each. Valerie worked in Cans Festival was an employee and adored by the owner Danielle Soucy, organizer of this project.

The sale will continue throughout the month of October to encourage people interested in Valerie's family to be able to order pourvalerieleblanc@gmail.com lollipops and sell them at their place of work or in their communities. The funds will be donated to the Association of Families of Murdered or Missing Persons and Crime Stoppers.

One month to the day after the horrific murder of Valerie Leblanc behind the Cégep de l'Outaouais, a hundred women in the region have come together on Thursday night, whistles and placards in hand, to expose an evil far from lost in our society: sexual violence against women.

This sad reality has no boundaries, the group left the Jacques-Cartier Park and then crossed the Alexandra Bridge to join dozens of other women on the Ottawa side in Day of Action against sexual violence against women. It was held this year under the theme "The street at night, women without fear."

A sketch!
http://ottawa.ctv.ca/servlet/an/loc...investigation_111013/20111013/?hub=OttawaHome
Gatineau Police released a sketch of an "important witness" in the investigation of Valerie Leblanc's murder Thursday morning.

Leblanc's body was found badly beaten and burned behind her school, the CEGEP de l'Outaouais, on Aug. 23.

Police say the witness likely has vital information about the case.

Valerie Leblanc's mother, Julie Charron, also made a plea to the public to help find her daughter's killer.

Police say the man has a strong build, big hands, a pointy nose and chin, and high cheekbones. He had no facial hair, a rounded black cap and was on a black mountain bike with straight handle bars. Those who saw him say he had an intimidating look. The sketch is a result of more than 500 tips.

A $10,000 reward, courtesy of anonymous donors, is also being offered for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for Leblanc's death

"I've decicded to speak today to ask foryour help," she said. "We want the police officers to find who is responsible for this horrible murder and make sure that person is arrested and convicted."

Leblanc's mother also asked for the public to examine the sketch and use social media to help track down either the witness or any possible suspects.

The key witness is described as a French-speaking male, aged between 20 and 35, believed to be about six feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

His appearance was described as ``intimidating.'' Witnesses told police the man was clean-shaven, had big hands, a protruding belly and was dark haired.

"Please take one minute to look carefully (at) the sketch of the important witness," said Leblanc's mother Julie Charron, speaking at the press conference Thursday.

"Think about it, look at your neighbours, family, friends of your children, employees, clients or anyone who might have (been) seen in Gatineau Park."
