Maybe Jodi has something on Matt, like knows some illegal activity he was involved in. In a situation like that, he'd easily do this, trying to stay on her good side. We all know what a tattle-tell she is once you get on her bad side.

Or maybe she just knows Matt as one of those types who hate the law and "the man," and don't care about bucking the system for a friend.

This reminds me of the case in Texas many years ago. A nurse struck a homeless man who was walking along the highway late one night. He went partially through her windshield and died.

Afraid she'd lose her nursing license, she drove home, garaged the car -- and called a few friends to come get the dead man and hide his body.

Point is: How come I don't have friends like this?! lol Obviously Jodi does, in Matt.

He would have to lie on the stand to protect himself. If he forged Travis' name on that letter for her to use and gave a false statement to the prosecutor no wonder he was willing to lie and state he would do so. He did not want to go to Arizona and face prison.

Question for one of our attorneys here: Since it has been entered into the court record would the State be able to go after MM now? jmo

Those were great!! :floorlaugh:

My favorite part of the day was:

JM "Your memory problems...are these a recent vintage?"

JA "Define recent."

JM "I don't know...since you started testifying?"

:rocker:

“And they {pop rocks} were part of fulfilling your imaginations, right?
’His imagination, yes’
“Oh so it wasn’t..so even though YOU wrote it, he didn’t write this, did he?
“I wrote it”
“THAT’S RIGHT! And those are YOUR words, right?”
“Yes”

They really can't since he has written that he would lie.

I am a bit confused. Why would anyone admit they would lie for the defendant. Do they do that in order to not be called to testify?

Just listened to the testimony about Matt and Darryl on the murder trip. Here's the sequence of events:

1. She spent the night with Matt on June 2

2. Went to Darryl's morning of June 3 for breakfast - Matt did not go with her

3. After Darryl's she went to Salinas (20-30 min away) to get her nails done, but she said it took a long time - she was in Salinas for "a few hours". She testified that she had to go to Salinas anyway to get on the highway. She says the place could have also done hair, but she doesn't remember. Doesn't remember the name. I'm pretty sure Juan knows exactly what place it is.

4. After a few hours in Salina, she went back to Darryl's house to return something - she says she does not remember this, but indicates that Darryl remembers it. Didn't say what she returned to Darryl.

Someone posted she brought back a remote after her visit to the salon. I think what JM was hinting to her was that Darryl knows she had her hair dyed and he can testify to the fact her hair was brown when she returned. My guess, too, is that it was possible his son was home at the time and he may have seen her, too. So when he introduces the proof she had her hair done there isn't much use in her denying it or they will call Darryl back to the stand, which I don't think she wants him back up there for a variety of reasons.

I don't think the rental guy is good witness because he had a copy of her license and she was blond there. I think she was blond but because he had her license it could be argued in closing he was mistaken. jmo

Good info. Thanks.

What are you missing?

I watched it over again and he got the Defense to check the magazines, then entered into evidence, each given a number, then he took us through the sentences, then the number sequence written, I thought very well done, very dramatic.

Then he lost me. Sorry I have to say it! I swear we skipped into something else and I did not feel we fully explained what the messages in the magazine meant?

Now I can't recall what they moved into talking about next. I clearly knew he was presenting the magazines to show she was angry, cursing and demanding someone retract a story or some concocted thing they said. But how would the Jury know what that was about? Is that going to tie in later?

did he know you were going to Monterray to see matt?
he knew I was going on the trip - don't know if I told him about the trip - he knew I was on my way to Utah . . .

fact going to Monterray want to keep a secret from him
uh no - he . . .. knew ...

did you meet matt?

yes and his friend
time of day arrived in Santa Cruz
evening it was dark - not too late - resteraunts and bars still open . . . bar and lounge resteraunt called the Red Room (Bread Room) . . . sat around and had appetizers and headed to a Karoke bar . . . no romantic interest in years and years . . . Ja broke up with Matt McCartney in 2001 . . . just friends with him . . . followed Matt's friends parents house that had a sectioned off part that Matt and friend rented .. . spent the night there

FROM LINK POSTED ABOVE This is when Nurmi has her on the stand 2-19

You can see the writing is her's because they have her journal. I would think that once it was discovered it was logged in for the time which would cover any tampering by the guards. As if they would do that and lose their jobs. Plus how would they know what to write to Matt??? Makes no sense for her to claim that she did not write it. And even though she tried to imply she didn't write it, JM did not give her the satisfaction of asking her. I love it. jmo

Did anyone see any screen shots of the messages written in the magazine?
I am a lefty and I'd like to take another look.
Anyone have a link to that part of cross ?

I have a "feeling" I could tell pretty quickly if a lefty wrote it based on where she placed her words .
As a lefty when jotting things down, I tend to start the first word more towards the right of the page...
Where a right handed person tends to start writing more towards the left.

Just for my own personal interest.
I AM SURE JUAN knows she will deny that the wrote it...
And IMO he has already had it proven that she did.

I thought the exact same thing.

But I think maybe Darryl gave her a credit/debit card to use to pay for the nails and hair and afterwards she had to return the card to him. IDK

Maybe there are records of Darryl's card being used for payment? I just don't understand why she would need to go back to Darryl's house to return something.

JMO

IIRC when JM asks her if she remembers going back to Brewers to return something, Jodi says she did once she saw him testify. Idk if it is something he already testified to or if just her seeing him reminded her somehow.

Thank you so much, I did not know that. I thought that he could ask. I did not know it had to wait for another go around. How complex!

Yep, the defense has at least one more witness to call - the DV expert, assuming she will testify.

She murdered him in two minutes time. We don't know how long it took her to drag him to the shower because there are no more pictures after she started to drag him. So it could have been a half hour or more after Travis was killed. jmo

i can't remember the exact time but if i remember right, there's more time between the FIRST dragging picture and the second one, where he's on the threshold than there is between the ceiling picture and the first dragging picture.

hope that makes sense! anyway, my point is it took her longer to drag him back into the bathroom than it did to kill him. and you're right, of course, we don't know if she took a break at some point and it took much longer. only have those 2 pictures to go by.

finally caught up!.. great posts, y'all! love the thinking and piecing of information going on here...

there were some post about the camera in the wash... i'm want to add my .02.. MOO.

i think she dumped the camera in the wash deliberately... she had to have handled it in order to delete the photos.. her hand was bleeding. it would be bleeding all over the camera. she wouldn't have had time to run it under a faucet, because i feel she would have wanted to get out of there as fast as possible.. so, she dumps it in the wash, assuring it would be saturated by water, soap/bleach, rinsed, and hopefully ruined. the water would get into the tight spots that a rinse under the faucet wouldn't necessarily..

she couldn't take it with her, because it would have been obvious she took something of his. his friends knew he had just bought one, so it would have been in the police report as the only known thing stolen from the home. she had a personal claim, so to speak, to photography - everyone knows how into it she was. it would have been just too coincidental by association, if ya follow me..

also, she's a spiteful batch so, why not toss it in the wash...

Hey I gotta split and I hope this doesn't break the rules here but I've been clearing out my pm box and noticed I had quite a few I'd never read.

As you can imagine these court days involve a lot of pm's coming in fast and furious so I missed many of them.

If I never replied to you and you sent me a pm, it's likely that it got deleted without getting read first.

I'm sorry...and please send again!

:seeya:

I just wanted to comment on your stalker story--I can't count how many times I've lived through similar freakshows. The worst time for me was college--there were so many predatory men who assumed that I was a pushover, or that I had no idea that they were totally innapropriate.

My rule was--"whatever it takes" to get the guy to cease and desist. I ask nicely ONCE. Then I had no problem whatsoever involving the police. I also had a married stalker, and I'll never forget the cop who came to my apartment to take the report calling him at work and telling him that unless he wanted to get arrested at work and his wife filled in on his activities, then he'd better leave me alone.

I've had experience with trauma in childhood--which makes my reaction to intrusive predators very strong. I hate that sinking feeling you get when you see them or for instance, come home to your apt. and there's a dozen roses with a card saying "I have Liebchenmutti Withdrawals" *UGH* from a stalker-weirdo.

I had another encounter with a peeping tom. I had just gotten out of the shower, got dressed & then stepped outside with my dog when my neighbors told me a man had been looking in my bedroom window, seeing everything. I spotted him and started screaming at him, I demanded his wallet, took his driver's license, and he was scared! That was pretty humourous--cops say that not all peepers are rapists/murderers, but all rapist/murderers ARE peepers, so maybe I cured him.

Please stay safe, keep up the non-response to him & I would DEFINITELY get the RO. He needs to know that he is violating your space.

I bet he's just going to leave the implication, which is pretty clear. He never asked if she wrote them probably because he knows she'll lie. The way he handled it, it's clear that she wrote them.

When Juan asked her what those numbers were at the bottom of the page, she responded "those are page numbers", to which Juan replied "no, what numbers are they?"

This indicates that she new what the numbers refered to, therefore she wrote them. IMO

I'd like to see a picture of Matt's penis. (that didn't sound right :blushing: )

I bet thats a pic of Matt that was sexted to JA.

Lol - But I will bet you are absolutely right! It is obvious to me from the original set of pictures we saw, where Travis is laying in bed, that he does not match the members in those more recent pictures. And I am curious about JM really laying down the point of JA staying with Matt McCartney on her fatal trip down to Mesa in which she would have had her external hard drive (marked with Deanna Reid's name as passwords and such), and JM making a point of asking JA what monogamy is to her, where she chooses to blur her lines, etc., and in particular tying that in with her relationship with (again) Matt McCartney.

I am a gazillion pages behind & literally just jumped in, so apologies if this has been said again & again.

I am a bit confused. Why would anyone admit they would lie for the defendant. Do they do that in order to not be called to testify?

Maybe. I don't think the prosecutors ever actually got to interview Matt. My guess is that after the coded messages were discovered, he plead the 5th and refused to answer questions. Obviously he is not going to testify for the prosecution that he was lying for Jodi or that he was complicit in her plan to offer false testimony or evidence (forged letters).

Maybe Jodi has something on Matt, like knows some illegal activity he was involved in. In a situation like that, he'd easily do this, trying to stay on her good side. We all know what a tattle-tell she is once you get on her bad side.

You pick good friends with better character!

Ohhhh good catch! I recall that.. Yes....
