Please continue the discussion here. The alleged perps have been arrested and indicted. The defense attorney has asked for a "swift" trial, so things should move along quickly.

REMEMBER:

Antonio's mom is a victim.
Name calling is NOT allowed, not even of the alleged perps.
This is NOT a race issue and we will not make it one.

May justice be swift for Antonio, poor baby :(

Certainly DL has apparantly rolled over on DE and provided LE with plenty of evidence. And I know DL's family/friends have said DL didnt know DE, but I just can't yet believe that. I would really like to believe that there is only one monster here, But I just can't figure out how/why DE would have randomly picked DL to assist in what was perhaps supposed to be just a robbery.

Thanks for the new thread Salem!

Police issue a plea to public for more information.

The slaying of Antonio was a tragedy but so is the fact that people know things that would help police but aren’t telling them, Doering said.

Doering also said that police are trying to find out how a 17-year-old came into possession of a gun.
“The mother was a convicted felon. You can’t possess a firearm as a convicted felon. I’ll leave it at that,’’ he said.

Its so hard to think about it.
If they can match the bullet to the gun recovered, that should just about seal the fate of DE.

Yes, and with fingerprints/DNA recovery on the gun (if they get those), maybe the mom wouldn't ever have to testify at trial. Seems a plea would be likely, no?

These people associated with DE are not the type that will help the police. The police are the enemy and these folks are raised on the "dont snitch" mentality. But the police are solving this crime despite the lack of cooperation. Hopefully, some out there will realize they might as well help.

So far, I am pretty impressed by this police department.

Me, too. I'm surprised that even the people that know wouldn't say something though given the $10k reward. (Under condition of anonymity.)

By the looks of this Dec. 20, 2012 article Brunswick has had an increase in violent crime to the point law enforcement recently created a Violent Crimes Task Force. In this article it states:

"The crimes aren’t confined to the city. A few weeks ago, Glynn County arrested three adults and a juvenile on six charges each, including aggravated assault and participating in criminal street gang activity, in the shooting of a man at a county park just outside the city."

Maybe the reason people will not talk to law enforcement now is because they are afraid of gang retaliation.

Here is the offical notice of the recent Violent Crimes Task Force. Note there was another murder on London St. On Dec. 19, 2012. This is not the shooting I quoted above.

Police find bullet believed to have killed little baby Antonio.

Guess it was a through and through. :(

This article says a bullet was found in his body:

Doering said Thursday investigators found one bullet in Santiago's body, it's now at the crime lab, along with the gun police believe was used in the crime.

I apologize if this video has been posted. Sister arrested.
It's a pretty good video.

What a GREAT point he made. "The criminals HAVE TO fear the community...more than the community has to fear the criminals."

Law enforcement is trying their best to get others who are aware of what happened to talk with them.

I hope with his strong statement the punishment will be LWOP or at least so many years that he will never get out.
