Oscar Pistorius: South Africa gears up for its 'trial of the century'

(CNN) -- He was one of South Africa's favorite sons, an amputee track star who defied all the odds and sprinted into the hearts of millions during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. She was a staggering beauty with the brains to match, a law graduate and model whose star was on the rise.

Continue discussion here..

Is it true that OP will be a 'no-show' for court today because he is too emotionally upset? TIA.

Also, my previous question was never answered. For all you legal eagles on here, aren't clients usually instructed to stick with "yes" or "no" answers? TIA

Oscar really does have to come to grips with his situation. Everyone , absolutely everyone is discombobulated by being in the witness stand.. its common, its ordinary. Everyone feels fear and anxiety. Roux has to get his client upright or else declare him incompetent to give instructions..

And if Roux does that, its off to the psych ward, in a secure environment until he darn well does get his act together.

Roux would then have difficulty collecting his fee for a long time, in that case.

This howling vomiting wailing apparition cannot be a surprise to Roux.. if it is a surprise to him, then somewhere communication between him and his client has fractured irredeemably.

If it isn't a surprise to Roux , then its been rehearsed and rerehearsed and re rerehearsed until it's finetuned to the max.

Morning,

I'll try and clarify the purpose of kicking the door.

The door is shut and locked, however the door swinging inwards or outwards has no relevance to this.

The kick is made to the fourth panel to the right, and is aimed at the panel in an attempt to break it, the same way as the cricket bat would be used.
Panels do not have an interest or particular strength depending on which way the door opens. The strongest part of the door is the frame (outer section) and the weakest the panels (inner sections).

If you thought you could bust the door open you would the kick the frame of the door on the right, and yes, it would be very difficult to achieve as the door opens the opposite way.

I hope this helps to explain the reason why it would be perfectly logical to kick the door panel from the outside of the toilet.

Trooper, glad you finally showed. We've been missing your insightful posts. :D

I want to see OP try to kick the door and see how hard he would kick it as someone mentioned that his legs (not blades) might shatter and OP knows how brittle they are.

Let me get this straight, he was in the bathroom screaming for Reeva to call the police, he then stood there "For some time", and yet Reeva doesnt say a word and doesnt actually call the police despite having her phone with her in the toilet.

Welcome back Trooper, you are needed.

I am sat waiting in hospital for an operation. Gutted that I will be out for the count on what may be a very interesting day.

Can someone please tell me the significance of OP prosthetics being on or off at the time of breaking the door with cricket bat. TIA

Or Roux knows his client very well by now, is still somewhat surprised by OP's crying etc. in court, and no, did not rehearse this over and over. Or any number of other possibilities.

That's a good point. I'm not sure the bat guy would watch though, he's probably had enough of hitting doors for a while.

Do you have any idea where the mark could have occurred?

Will be thinking of you today and hope your surgery goes well, TrueDetective!

oh vast and endless possibilities. ...but only 2 solutions..

(1) spark up

(2) or be declared incompetent to issue instructions to ones attorney, and be carted off for diagnosis and long rehabilitation. In a secure environment. .
