CA CA - Mark Wilson, 13, Quincy, 4 Nov 1967

You guys! You are so AWESOME! This case is near and dear to my heart and look at everything you have done!

:yourock:

Oh my gosh - thank you all so much for caring about Mark.

I can't tell the date on the article, but I hope it is recent and that Hagwood is planning the well evac this May/June. Oh my gosh!

Salem

PS - I'm getting caught up right now.

~Respectfully snipped ~
Salem, do you recall who you spoke with at PCSO concerning Wilson? Was is [modsnip] by the name of Bill Elliott? IF so, you've been lied to and strung along by a guy that honestly doesn't have the brainpower to remember his name. He's been telling conflicting lies (many of them concerning DNA) about the Keddie case for a looooong time.

No, it was not Mr. Elliott. Not to be coy, but I'm not going to put the detective's name here until I get his permission. At the time I talked with him, he was an active deputy, but he has since retired.

Thanks for this reminder!

I anticipate that there will be some updates soon with regards to the analysis of the remains found at that private property well. Everyone here at WS, we should watch for any new information.

http://www.plumasnews.com/index.php/12613-meadow-valley-forensic-dig-yet-to-begin

A forensic excavation in Meadow Valley will begin later and cost more money than originally expected. The project, spearheaded by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, entails digging up an old well to search for possible human remains.

The dig, originally planned to begin last month, was scheduled after three different cadaver dogs zeroed in on an abandoned well in the area last fall. The well is close to where a 13-year-old Meadow Valley boy went missing on November 4, 1967.

Sheriff Greg Hagwood said the dig will still take place, likely this summer. He said the delay is partly a matter of logistics. Experts are being assembled from around the country. The sheriff said many of the experts are being provided by the FBI, which has been reviewing the case. Two FBI specialists from Virginia were at the dig site June 25.

yeah!! cant wait to see if they find anything!

This is to update my original posts with new links.

The Keddie Murders forum thread concerning Mark ('Potentially Related Crimes') is now located here.

In my first post I mixed up directions, as usual. Meadow Valley is west of Quincy, not east, and the Town Hall Theatre is nearly on the western edge of downtown Quincy.

The Keddie Murders Map still works, showing where MV is in relation to Quincy and the theatre. The main difference now is that Google Street View is more complete, including the main road between Quincy and MV.

The original Photo Album still works, but there's also an updated one I built for the keddie28 site.

The link concerning sun angles and how early it gets dark in that area in November is now here. Also, the reason I mentioned my experience in London for judging how early the sun sets in November is that I believed both Quincy and London are roughly at the same latitude. In fact, London is almost a full ten degrees further north, so it would get dark far earlier in London (51.5° N) than Quincy (40° N).

Salem, with all due respect to PCSO (deservedly, I have very little), I hope it wasn't Gamberg or, even worse, Rod DeCrona! Ouch!

http://www.plumasnews.com/index.php...ion-to-spend-96-437-on-meadow-valley-well-dig

The sheriff’s plan to excavate an old Meadow Valley well to search for possible human remains has been put on hold. County supervisors said last week they were having a hard time justifying the cost of the operation – nearly $100,000 – while the county is facing a multi-million-dollar budget deficit. They decided to delay a decision on the sheriff’s funding request.

Sheriff Greg Hagwood said he wants to dig up the well to see if suspected human remains are those of a Meadow Valley teenager Mark Wilson who disappeared in 1967. Hagwood presented a detailed cost estimation to excavate the well during the supervisors’ August 5 meeting. “It’s not cheap,” Hagwood said about the proposed excavation. He said that a number of different requirements have revealed themselves, bringing the estimated tab to $96,474.37.

“The day when you got a buddy with a backhoe and a bunch of guys with shovels are long gone.” Hagwood said. He added that the excavation has to be done in an appropriate manner that complies with OSHA and other agency requirements.

Oh my goodness! How ridiculous!

Salem

Sadly,

It sounds like "budget concerns" are more important to the investigators than finally perhaps getting some closure for Mark's loved ones! This is a human life we are talking about here!

Trust me - it is NOT the investigators, but the County Board of Supervisors. The folks of Plumas County should attend a Supervisor meeting and let them know that they are making a bad call. Everyone wants to know what happened to Mark, especially his family.

This is just so sad.
