I am not sure what to make of this comment

Very interesting find and awesome sleuthing!

I don't get this statement:
This same person known as a victim associated with the above case.

Who's the friend?
A friend attending a group I attend said ,”I know him”

I thought the friend knew him..but here she states SHE went to school with him and describes him.
She states he is much older than the Doesnet estimates.
HE was raised in Maysville N C. She states she went to the same school. She states he walked with a limp because of what she thinks is a birth defect. He was a frequent customer at a store she worked. She says he was a small time drug dealer who always attended concerts. He was a hippy type.HE wore the rock shirts. She even stated that he talk with a nasal twang .He was known to hang out in the JACKSONVILLE NC area. She said he attended Whiteoak High School. in abt.1972.His hair was carrot top red, curly, and down to his shoulders, HE was really thin and average ht. He was possibly named Sullivan or Summerlin.SHE SAId THE NAME JASON DOES NOT JOG HER MEMORY. If she can locate her school annual.she will contact me.IF ANY OF YOU CAN CHECK OUT birth records for Jones Co. in Trenton NC. or have a WHITE OAK H S ANNUAL.

Even if she wasn't sure about the 1972 part, and was perhaps off by a couple of years, it would still put "Jason" ridiculously past the estimated age range. I could see him being born around 1972 (making him about 23 when he died) but I can't imagine a medical examiner/other specialists looking at the body of a 35-40 year old man and concluding he could be as young as 16, and not older than his early 20's.

But hell, crazy things happen. If our Doe looks so much like some guy that went to this high school, maybe it is a relative of his. Can't hurt to take a look.

I don't think the ME would make a mistake about his age. Also the poster states she thinks he had a birth defect that made him have a limp. That would have been found too at the autopsy, if a complete autopsy was done.

I am just going on past descriptions of UID's that state "may have walked with a limp"

Has myspace been checked out? As in the people that graduated from that HS on myspace been contacted? I just did a search and there are 38 people ages 50 and up..

Exactly. Especially when you consider that, given how soon his body was recovered after he was killed, that the medical examiner would have been looking at a "complete" body. We're not talking about skeletal remains or even remains that have been exposed to the elements for months -- in those cases, I can imagine that age estimates can be a little more difficult to narrow down. Severe injuries from the accident aside, I'm still sure that to trained medical professionals, it was obvious that they were looking at the body of a young man.

I'm not going to ridicule someone if they want to devote their time to pursuing this tip, but personally I see it as very implausible.

I am posting this comment page again.... The comment made on 7-24-09

"i showed this photo to a freind.she stated the photo was a customer at a store she worked in in jacksonville nc . she could not remember the name. i have not been able to locate any more info. has anyone else?"

Does anyone know if LE has been contacted about this information?!?!?!?

Did anyone ever think to look on Facebook to see if White Oak HS had a page? (I can't access facebook, I'm at work and it's blocked) - If they would, maybe a picture can be posted on the page to see if anyone recognizes him??

Does the ME automatically do a bone scan? If Jason was under 20 years old an X Ray would show growth plates.

I thought I had heard somewhere that Jason's parents wanted nothing to do with him and they knew about his death, but won't come forward to claim him.

That is one of the theories Marylandmissing had floated; I believe contact with an investigator or someting had indicated they received a call wondering what happened if someone came forward to ID a body as family, the sense was they either couldn't afford or be bothered with arrangements and were estranged.

I found this message on a Canadian missing person message board. It struck me not only because of the name and age but, the way it's worded. To me it sounds like the writer has not seen her brother since he was 13. I wonder who stated he hadn't been seen for months? (My mind is wandering now) Maybe he was presumed a runaway or perhaps his father thought he went back to his mother's...
I tried to register but for someone reason it's not working. I would just ask when was the last time she or her mother spoke to him. It may be a long shot, but...

That message was posted in Sept. 2007. The father had died in April 2007 and Jason had been missing "for months" at that time. Grateful Doe died in 1995. It's safe to say that this is not our Jason.

The high school is less than an hour from here.

If they do come up with a yearbook and you need someone to pick it up and scan it, let me know.

Most libraries carry local yearbooks for the highschools. Just a FYI
