Investigation in Gacy case helps solve Chicago man's unrelated killing from 1978

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/04/2...-gacy-case-helps-solve-chicago-man-unrelated/

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled to announce Wednesday, April 23, 2014, they have identified the remains found in a forest preserve in 2008 as those of 22-year-old Edward Beaudion of Chicago. Beaudion was identified after his relatives came forward to submit DNA samples as part of the effort to identify several of Gacy’s 1970s victims. Authorities believe Missouri resident Jerry Jackson killed Beaudion in 1978. But without a body at the time, they never charged him. Jackson died last year at age 62.

Thank you for posting this JerseyGirl. I was unable to find a thread for the remains determined to be those of Edward Beaudion. I'm glad to see his family finally has answers.

Doe Network has updated 7 out of the 8 profiles, and linked it with its corresponding NamUs profile.

955UMIL is UP#10999
956UMIL is UP#11004
957UMIL is UP#10998
958UMIL is UP#10994
960UMIL and 962UMIL are both listed as UP#11000. Pretty sure that's an error.
And they're unsure about 954UMIL's NamUs profile.

The stats have been updated too.

Now Marino is asking a Cook County judge for permission to exhume another body said to be a Gacy victim — her son's friend, Kenneth Parker, who went missing at the same time. A hearing has been scheduled for Monday in Circuit Court.

While Marino is still holding out hope her son might be alive, her attorney, Steven Becker, said it is likely the decomposed bodies were misidentified when they were handed over to the families, or the remains were mixed together since they were found side-by-side.

Parker's relatives could not be reached for comment on whether they will oppose the exhumation. His remains were believed to be buried at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago.

On Wednesday, Judge Rita Novak gave her permission to exhume the body identified as Parker from Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago. DNA tests will determine whether the remains actually belong to Michael Marino.

“If not, I think Sherry will continue to search for him,” said her lawyer, Steve Becker.

Becker said he was unable to contact Parker’s family for a DNA sample he could use for a comparison.

This article about the UIDs of Gacy is incredibly interesting. Very long, but quite riveting. Detective Moran who is in charge of the investigation sounds very determined. After being criticized in 2013 for continuing to spend time & money on this case, he replied, "When does someone not deserve justice anymore?"

That is a great story. The unidentified Gacy victims were the first UID cases I had ever heard about, and they started my interest in the topic. It is so tragic that these young men remain unidentified, but the recent developments in the Caledonia Jane Doe and Grateful Doe give me hope that these seven remaining young men can be identified.

New to this site, hello all. I came across his case on The Doe Network and looking at Gacy's unidentified victims, I couldn't help but wonder about the similarities between the 2. Opinions anyone? Here is his Doe profile : http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/4640dmil.html
and here is the info on one of Gacy's unidentified victims, last case file at the bottom : http://murderpedia.org/male.G/g1/gacy-john-victims.htm

thank you all

Carl K brought up Craig Conner as a possible Gacy victim some time back, but I'm not sure if he submitted him. I imagine Craig must be on Cook County LE's radar, but it wouldn't hurt to submit him just in case.

I didn't submit Craig Conner. I am sure that Conner has crossed their mind as a possible Gacy victim.

I really think someone should send the info in, Im from Australia so not sure where to contact anyone involved in the case, googled Craigs name with Gacy and nothing comes up but this thread. I think he is very worthwhile looking into! I saw some articles about a detective Jason Moran who is trying to identify them, maybe we can contact him.

"The submission of DNA from the dozens of families of missing young men has also helped authorities identify the remains of young men found in Utah and New Jersey. In some cases, the missing loved ones have been found alive, including a man who ran away years ago and was found living in Oregon.

Though no remains found outside the state have been identified as Gacy victims, Dart has said that because the killer travelled extensively, there could be more victims than those found in a crawl space in his house and dumped in a river.

"This breakthrough illustrates that we should never give up on a cold case," Dart said in a news release

"Andre "Andy" Drath had disappeared after travelling from Chicago to San Francisco. Dental records, an "Andy" tattoo, and records that show he had travelled to San Francisco helped to confirm the identification.

Wertheimer was notified of the match this month.

Drath's body will be returned to Chicago for burial."

I read somewhere that JWG owned property in Florida. Does anyone know when and where that might have been?

Illinois sheriff IDs another victim of John Wayne Gacy

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said in a news release that the remains of a person whose body was found under the crawl space of Gacy's Chicago area home in 1978 were those of 16-year-old James "Jimmie" Byron Haakenson. The teenager had left his home in 1976 and was last heard from in August of that year when he called his mother and told her he was in Chicago.
