Post Verdict -Working Out The Unresolved Questions #2

That's what I thought at first also, but in the articles I've read since, it's being stated that Hulsey's trial has been waiting longer than her retrial so his gets to go first, but then they knew that when they set her retrial date. Something seems to be going on but I can't see any logic in it.

I agree geevee - something wrong?!! They set JA's re-trial for March 17th, and this guy's for May... do they really think her's will go for 2 months?? I don't really believe that!!

Dr. Karp's name appears in recent filings (and other odd motions):

2/21/2014 SDO - Order to Seal Documents - Party (001) 2/28/2014
NOTE: SUPPLEMENTAL FILING IN SUPPORT OF NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL AS EXPERT WITNESS AND MOTION TO QUASH SUBPOENA; NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL AS EXPERT WITNESS AND MOTION TO QUASH SUBPOENA; NOTICE OF FILING

2/21/2014 SDO - Order to Seal Documents - Party (001) 2/28/2014
NOTE: MOTION TO CONTINUE DISCLOSURE DEADLINE; DEFENDANTS RESPONSE; OBJECTING TO CONDUCTING TRIAL (PENALTY PHASE) IN SECRET AND ALLOWING WITNESSES TO TESTIFY UNDER A PSEUDONYM; SENTENCING MEMORANDUM

2/19/2014 SDO - Order to Seal Documents - Party (001) 2/28/2014
NOTE: MOTION TO SEAL EXPERT WITNESS CHERYL KARPS BRIEF IN SUPPORT OF DEFENDANTS MOTION TO PRECLUDE PENALTY PHASE REBUTTAL EVIDENCE; EXPERT WITNESS CHERYL KARPS BRIEF IN SUPPORT OF DEFENDANTS MOTION TO PRECLUDE PENALTY PHASE REBUTTAL EVIDENCE

No minute entries to peruse as everything is being sealed, the last m.e. was due to a motion accidentally being posted to the Clerk of Court's docket website and was ordered pulled and made non-seeable. The second motion on the 21st is indeed odd, I would so love to see these motions argued but with the secrecy we'll be lucky if we ever know what's gone on before the sentence is finally handed down.

Hiya Niner! :) I'm wondering if the penalty retrial was vacated because JM was out on medical leave and couldn't properly prepare for the run-up to it. I do think they expected it to have been finished before Hulsey's trial started on May 12th as his was already scheduled (actually rescheduled from March to May) before JA's new date was set, the only thing that seems to have happened in the interim was JM having medical leave. There's been so much secrecy in her case lately it's really hard to know, but whatever medical issue JM had is the only thing I've seen connected.

Did the defense really want witnesses to testify using false names? Holy cow, is this thing rolling rapidly off the rails or what?

Again I imlore Mr. Montgomery to stop this lunacy, there is no point, she's going to die in prison no matter what. How can the waste of taxpayer dollars (not to mention the sanity of all individuals concerned) be justified?

Latest Arias sideshow involves pinwheel drawing.
Maria De La Rosa, the mitigation specialist was caught carrying the drawing in a packet of legal papers and has been banned from the jails.
A key member of the Jodi Arias defense team has been banned from the Maricopa County jails after being accused of trying to smuggle a colored-pencil drawing of a pinwheel out of one of the facilities.
Legal experts say this deprives JA from her constitutional rights to a fair trial.
They never stop do they.

Oh-so she think it is ok to smuggle her "artwork", but not ok to ban the smuggler? Can't have it both ways!

Even though the jury hung on the penalty portion I don't think her mitigation specialist did an especially good job for her, maybe it's time for a new one? She clearly wasn't acting in her client's best interest when she tried to break the law by smuggling anything out of the jail facility.

Oh! I think this is the same woman who would wear those giant cross necklaces as though they were fashion statements and openly laugh in court. The one who rolled her eyes at JM and his witnesses plenty of times. She would practically jump out of her chair to be around Arias during sidebars. :banghead:

Yes, that is the one. Her outfits were always comment worthy.

Yes, she and Arias would giggle and simper together every chance they got-like two little teen age besties. GAG.

Just came to talk about this, just read it. There's something off about this woman, I do not like her. She was caught smuggling things to Jodi's family before, wasn't she? And she was told not to. She would laugh at inappropriate times and was just...off. She says the drawing was for the mitigation phase but I don't buy it? Why smuggle it? I don't know...maybe much ado about nothing, but if she's not supposed to be sneaking the drawing out then she shouldn't have done it. Banned from all her prisoner clients for smuggling artwork...something's fishy. What is this hold Jodi has over people? I feel it's kind of unethical to behave the way she did during the trial.

I have actually read her' is estimated to go that long. It's too risky.

Guess who's back....?

Hi, all. Taking my new fresh look at the trial--again.

I'm trying to remember, but I'm sure it's posted in all the vastness of this forum's knowledge base, if Melendez had said how many deleted pictures were unrecoverable.

Hope everyone's doing well. If I get no reply, I'll assume I'm the last obsessor.

Hiya WM! You are def. not the last obsessor. lol I don't recall him saying any deleted pics were unrecoverable, guess I'll have to watch his testimony again - have you rewatched and gotten anything more?

A couple thoughts about the camera in the washer, if she were there for any length of time while that load was washing, she would have heard it banging around as the washer agitated, it was likely too heavy to float and even if it did, it would have bumped the sides/agitator, so she had to have known it was in there.

If she left right after starting the washing machine, it had to have finished before Enrique got home, didn't the roommates use the laundryroom entrance of the house? He'd have heard the machine going, esp. with something like a camera inside the tub, from anywhere in the vicinity. And since washers made recently take about an hour per load, and he said he returned no later than 6:30, she needed to have been out of the house near 5:30, but the final camera picture is time-stamped at 5:33:32...something is amiss with this picture, no?

I have doubts she would have wanted a gentle cycle, as her intent was to remove DNA, not make sure the camera didn't get hurt. lol She did use bleach, but I don't see her taking the time to work out, or know, which cycle would be faster to be done before a roommate turned up, as she didn't know Enrique's schedule. But we do know he returned home between sometime between 6:00 and 6:30.

Scenario of why one might not hear a camera banging around, and no,she would not have set either of those cycles intentionally, lol,no way, just luck.

All the pics of the washer I've seen have the top open so you can't see what it's set on, on my older one you had to set the cycle for each load, on the new one there's just a button to press to start the cycle it's already set on. His looks like an older model from what I can tell, sure would like to get a look at the panel though.
