The remains of a 21-year-old southwest Ohio woman found in Indiana 20 months after she disappeared are still being tested in an effort to determine how and where she died, police said Wednesday.
Indiana State Police said Katelyn Markham’s remains were returned recently to Ohio after nearly three months of examination by a forensic anthropologist. Sgt. Neal Houze said the Hamilton County coroner in Cincinnati will conduct more testing on the remains.

“I have theories. I have feelings. I have no proof or any hardcore facts,” Markham said.
It’s been almost two years and there are still no answers in Katelyn’s death. The 21-year-old Fairfield woman was last seen alive Aug. 13, 2011.

Bringing Katelyn Markham's killer to justice formidable task, but not impossible
The investigation into the disappearance and death of Katelyn Markham continues, despite authorities ruling the cause of death as undetermined.
If Markham’s cause of death is never determined, bringing a killer to justice will be a formidable task. But experts and investigators say it is far from impossible.

Fairfield police investigating new tip in Katelyn Markham homicide

Monday marked the one-year anniversary of police discovering the Fairfield woman’s skeletal remains in a dumping ground in Cedar Grove, Ind., about 30 miles outside of Butler County. Fairfield and Indiana State police officials say investigators continue to work the case but solid leads have been hard to come by.

But in the past 30 days, Fairfield police have received a new tip from a “validated source” that is worthy of follow up, the chief said.

“There’s good sourcing to it,” Dickey said of the new information. “We just don’t know yet if it will pan out.”

Still no leads one year after remains of Katelyn Markham found

The family of Katelyn Markham is still looking for answers as Monday marked one year since her remains were finally found after being missing for nearly two years.

A group of people searching for scrap metal along a creek near Cedar Grove, Ind. made the discovery last April.

She was reported missing in August 2011, and in August her death was ruled a homicide.

"I miss her," said Katelyn's tearful father, Dave Markham.

I so hope this new tip pans out. I think of Katelyn often.

Fairfield police seek DNA test on Katelyn Markham’s remains

Bones believed to be those of Fairfield’s Katelyn Markham found this past April in Indiana will be brought back to Ohio for further testing, according to police in both states.

Last week marked the third anniversary of the disappearance of the 22-year-old art student from her Dorshire Drive residence during the early morning hours of Aug. 14, 2011. Police and volunteers looked for months to find the young woman who vanished leaving behind her purse, keys and her dog.

The case gained national media attention as days turned into months with no news on Markham’s whereabouts.
