That is fantastic SieSie!

Thanks, KivaSupporter!

I joined thedead.net and posted the information there. I also edited my profile there to provide some of the details and links to the Doe Network. Will try to join some other forums soon.

Still no phone number? :banghead:

I did ask for you fmw63. I did not receive anything back on that angle though, sorry. Here is the original email from me requesting the info you asked for.

Dear Bridget, Here is the contact info for the Australian Federal Police. I have not heard anything back from them. I will also look for other contacts regarding the file of Daniel Nicholas Sheppard. In the meantime, I wonder if you have the telephone number that was found with your John Doe with the 914 prefix and any other info that might help us in the search for his identity.

thank you

I just thought of something...

Does anyone want me to contact the Raleigh News and Observer and the Durham Herald-Sun (which also has a Chapel Hill, NC paper in it's grouping)?

I have contacts at both and I don't mind, but someone would have to help me write it (I'm not good at writing )

I think contacting the newspapers is a GREAT IDEA. Lots of sleuthers are pretty good at the writing angle. Post what you want to say here and I am sure someone will help you with it or if you want, you can pm me.

Also look in the "read here first" thread. You might find some good ideas in there to help you get started. If not, let me know and I'll try to take another look around.

I'm going to be kinda scarce for the next couple of days so be patient with me :)

Salem

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone!

Still no phone number? :banghead:

Who is specifically working on tracking this down? Who exactly has been approached by us seeking this info?

I can't remember, but I am going to look and see if we have a thread specifically for the phone #..if not, I'm startin' one and we can keep discussion there.

ETA...phone prefix being discussed here. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69584 (I am putting a copy of this post there)

I have not been able to write to the papers yet. If anyone else wants to write something, I'll send it in.

We've had a lot of family problems, and as much as I hate to say this, it's not on the top of my list :(

But if anyone else wants to write it, please feel free to, and PM it to me, and I'll send it to the papers for you!

I actually had been working on this case for a few years on my own,no help.
I am starting to think that the only way to find out anything about him,is to find the two girls who at that time wrote the note to JASON
Jason must be the GDF's name.

re-read the DOE profile.
not a lot of clues....
only the note and ticket plus the one ticket stub in his possession are the real clues...
This case caught my interest since the one ticket stuf showed that he was in PITTSBURGH [my locality.]
I usually look on DOE for any Pittsburgh connection...then read the cases...
I do recall way back then that the GD fans would travel in GYPSY style caravans and camp out on major highways also parks.
I at first compared him to several missing SIMMONS males.
From my research and everything, they were not matches.
It is possible that he had run away as a much younger youth or perhaps
grew up with[ an adopted family] who were into the GD?
Many people[ fans] adopted each other and maintained a group making up a family]
So after looking at possible matches it does lead me to believe that perhaps the GDF was or has yet to be reported missing.
If you read more omline you will find that the Sheppard person has a twin.
Also I saw not one mention of SHEPPARD being interrested in The Grateful Dead group.
I would like to see that before persuing a possible match to GDF.
thanks
:waitasec:

Hmmm???
blonde hair DYED RED?
This is the first I have noticed that...?

So in conclusion, I will search the missing youth of that time period a few years before his death age...

The Pittsburgh connection is due to the fact that the scalper who sold the ticket was from PA. He (the scalper) took the tickets to D.C. and sold them outside of RFK stadium.

I think that contacting newspapers/the media is a really good idea. Especially if the story focuses on the note from the two Carolines.

It has been nearly fourteen years since "Jason" lost his life, and while it is possible that someone in the Grateful Dead fan community might have information to offer, I think as time passes this possibility becomes less and less likely. He might have met some people at the concerts and even traveled around with fellow fans for a bit, but think about it, how much do you remember about someone that you met briefly over a decade ago?

So, lobo34 or anyone else that wants to work on the media angle, let me know if you want some help. Maybe we can work on some letters and email them to various news agencies.
